FS9 ATC

Featured Replies

Hello. i've been kicking this idea around in my head for quite some time now, and i decided this would be the best place to express this idea. So, i like to play FS9, it's pretty fun. But i'm just getting sort of tired of flying. I mean it's such a cool environment with all the addons available, but I wanted something new. So while i was flying, i was thinking, why not try vatsim ATC? So i tried. But i just find it to be a bit...childish. I really don't know, but i just can't get into it. It's not that frequent. In terms of the amount of fliers. So here's the idea: FS9 single player ATC. Now obviously, this is a pretty big thing. I understand. But is it at all possible? Even if it's payware, i would pay some SERIOUS $$ for a payware fs single player ATC! :( Big%20Grin.gif But what i was thinking is like a tower view, and you could control the aircraft. I mean there are AI separators and programs that put more aircraft in holding patterns, and i know that's some simple coding for those programs. But just simple "left/right X degrees, maintain x altitude, cleared to land take off for FS. I mean i know logistically it's complicated, but i mean oh my gosh, i would absolutely die if this became reality. Like you can actually view the aircraft, and good graphics, add on airlines. Please, please leave some responses. Thanks all

Vatsim childish? Wow,thats far from the truth imho.Best of luck to you, with your version of ATC. I can't wait to see what you come up with to replace current ATC options.

Childish was a bad choice of words. I just mean...bland. Just imho.

It's bland in some way's due to the fact it is so sporadic (not always people flying and controlling in the same areas). What is fun is when they hold the fly ins like they do with full control and a slew of flight simmers coming and going.

yeah, that's what i meant by the frequency. But any ideas on the logistics?

I'm sure a hard core single player ATC program can be made. I think it would be better if it was made a stand alone program from scratch.

Get yourself a copy of ATC Simulator 2 and have fun. It's the most realistic product there is. If you want pretty graphics, you can try out Aerosofts ATC sim, but it's not on par.

yeah. I'm not very good at programing. But do you think someone like aerosoft or flight one or wilco or some brand name fs company would possibly do it?

In the FS9 program, what is the ATC .cfg file? Like when a plane is 10 miles out, what clears it for ILS? Is there a way to manipulate that file so you can tell them when to come in and what heading to turn?

As said above, I would say go get yourself atc sim2, It is one of the most realisitic atc sims out there, although it is not related to fs9 at all. Or just hang tight for now cause i beleive there is a atc sim 3 on the way, and it is suppose to be a tower edition (here's to hoping it is still being worked on). If you are not too interested in realism but more for looks go check out "I am an air traffic controller 3" For me it is a horrible sim, but it looks alright. I also beleive wilco has a tower sim, but hear really bad things about it.Again I dont think there is a fs9 related atc sim for single player use, But I do really like the idea.

I know about pfe, but I dont think you can actually do some controlling with this program, or i could be wrong. When i mentioned a single player atc sim i meant to "be" the air traffic controller within fs9.I think that is what the OP was asking, or maybe I have the meaning of this thread totally misunderstood :(

As far as i know there are no programmes that allow you to be the ATC within fs9. There are of course plenty of ATC programmes but none in the way you wish. If you wish to fly and be controlled by ATC within fs9 then PFE is frankly as good as you'll get.vololiberista

Yeah, i know there;s none out there. But man oh man i wish someone would step up and make one. It would buy OVER 9000!!! copies. but do you guys thing wilco or aerosoft or some developers would be willing to manipulate the ATC.cfg file? (I doubt that's a real file) but the file that controls the ATC.

Frankly, I think you would have to promise to buy a lot more than 9000 copies to be in with even a remote chance that a developer would have a shot at doing something as complex as that for a program that is now seven years old. Bit of a bummer of course, but that's the way it goes. Your best bet is, as some have suggested, the few ATC programs that are already out there.Al
