long haul: Favourite Routes

Featured Replies

just want to know everyones favourite medium-Long haul routes:At the minute mine goes like this:EGNT/EGCC-OMDB. Around 6 hours, some nice scenery along the route, suitable for both the 747 and the MD11, and the decent into Dubai is quite nice.EHAM-TNCM-TNCA-TNCC- very nice flight. Around 7 1/2 to 8 hours to TNCM, then a further 55 minutes to 1 hour to TNCA, then 10/15 minutes to TNCC. I like this routing because of the suitability for any long haul plane, the 3 Landings, the flight time, and the flying over the ocean before seeing a small island which your about to disturb with your big &@($* plane! Scenery used is fly tampa complete, and afcad files from flightsim.com for the last 2 to improve the scenery. Hope to get Aerosoft Schiphol X soon when available. Finally a very long flight, usually flown over a period of 3 days, EGLL-PHNL, always using BA747-400.

EDDM/EDDF - KSFO (flown as on pilotseye.tv but with LH747)EHAM - TNCM - TNCC (KLM 747-400 or MD11) or LFPG - TNCM - TFFF (Air France 747)Max

Budapest (LHBP) - Beijing (ZBAA)Duration around 9 hours 30 minutesI usally fly a Boeing 767, and this is my favourite route at the moment, still within FS2004.Budapest (LHBP) - Almaty (UAAA)Duration around 6 hours 10 minutesI usually fly a Boeing 757 but as soon as I finally upgrade to FSX (I am gonna buy a new PC in a few weeks, hopefully) I will fly the above routes using the PMDG MD-11 - but I wil purchase it only when my new computer is ready. I don't want frame rate issues...Budapest (LHBP) - Dubai (OMDB)Duration around 5 hours 30 minutesandBudapest (LHBP) - Jeddah (OEJN)Duration around 4 hours and 30 minutesI usually fly the PMDG 737NG for these routes, sometimes a 757. And I am looking forward to flying the route with the new PMDG NGX!!!And my planned flight - also after buying the new PC - the famous Amsterdam to St Maarten to Curacao. This is a kind of a fave for everyone, it seems:-) I am planning to fly this using the PMDG MD-11 as well. I prefer flights between 4 to 8 hours in duration, so I have enought for everything. I never use time acceleration, and I often do overnights (not the above medium haul routes, of course, but longer ones) when I also have a nice sleep between top of climb and top of descent, and even have a nice breakfast before landing. Once my alarm didn't wake me up and my plane crashed after running out of fuel... But this really seldom happens:-)

i'm the same. i think time aceleration ruins the flight. also my favourite routes are the 4-8 hours ones. but at the min i am loving doing 10hour plus flights

TNCC and TNCA are very well done by Tropical Sim, available at simmarket.Right now I'm flying TNCC-ELLX, Cargolux flight 761I love every Cargolux route. Such an interesting variety of places to visit, and most have addon scenery available. When Imaginesim releases WSSS I can't wait to fly ELLX-WSSS!

I quite like WSSS - EGLL (Singapore Changi - London Heathrow). You get to fly over a vast number of countries, for example: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran/Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Germany, Holland and finally the UK. The mountains in Afghanistan require special procedures in the event of a decompression, so one needs to be on their toes as some of the terrain is above 10,000ft. Some of the BA/QF flights fly through the night - you never see the sun until touchdown (or never at all if it's winter in Europe). It's fairly long - about 13:30 - 14:00. Climbing out of Singapore at MTOW trying to meet the altitude restrictions is fun. VNAV will keep you climbing too slowly once you start flap retraction, so you may need to use V/S.Cheers,Rudy

I'm personally a fan of flights down to the Caribbean and South America from NY or Europe. They usually clock at around 10 hours, and calculating TO performance in a 767 at MTOW is always fun.

I recently did CYVR-VHHH on a PMDG 744X following the exact real flightplan of that day
