I'll take a detailed PMDG model/VC in FS9/FSX with options to fly all detailed mega airport destinations the world over versus something like this (put that on top of a utility like TrackIR and the discussion is over). Now if this is something being created to fill a future void left by Microsoft what I'm about to say needs to be disregarded so here goes:I never understood these sub par FAA approved options over the more robust Flight Simulator alternative. All the major bells and whistles Elite may have can easily be incorporated into a serious FS add-on. That's why the most logical move for commercial trainers was to incorporate FSX's visual engine until Microsoft pulled the plug. The FSX engine makes since over options like these other dated simulators for the simple fact to whole world is covered in reasonable detail. Some may disagree but my real world flying experience plus the knowledge I've gained about aircraft the world over can't be understated and it's due to years of using Flight Simulator. Many try to downplay FS even in this community but we all here have a greater understanding of the 744, 767, and ERJ to name of few that otherwise wouldn't be possible without actually working for an airline or paying considerable money renting a level-d simulator. It'll be interesting to see what he charges for this one.If you're a hard-core 747 systems guy who really likes the extreme nitty gritty detail, then you'll probably like what Hardy is creating.It's said to be due out next year. It seems that he (Hardy Heinlein) has discovered OpenGL and has resumed the ultimate study flightsim: Precision Simulator.To your other point, I think Lockheed Martin did license ESP for just the purpose you propose (http://www.lockheedmartin.com/news/press_releases/2009/MicrosoftAgreement11301009.html).On your points regarding the value of MSFS, I can't agree more. This is why I don't think MS will ever give up the Intellectual Property rights of the "franchise." Instead, they'll find a way to control it through the cloud or sit on it until technology takes a quantum leap forward.
