Clickspots have gone - Intermittent issue
Thanks for the quick response Ryan. I think that could explain it, because before this issue occured, I was moving/panning around the cockpit. It could very likely be that I moved into a position where the invisible plyogon was preventing me from clicking anything. I do hope it was that! Awais

Clickspots have gone - Intermittent issue
Dear PMDG, Firstly I want to say that this is an amazing product. I have waited so long for this to release and what you have developed is truely ground-breaking. Now the not so good stuff: I remember a few days ago you mentioning an issue that held up release where clickspots disspaear preventing the user from clicking on anything. I can confirm that I have just experienced this issue. Currently I do not know how to reproduce it, it appears to have happened 'randomly'. And only once so far. I am using an iMac (Bootcamp, Windows 7, DX11) with an ATI graphics card. Please let me know if you would like any further information. Many thanks. Awais

Quick question about new imac
For work related reasons, I need to buy an imac, but I still want to keep using FSX and the 737NGX. The model I plan to buy is: 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 1920 x 1080 resolution 4GB (two 2GB) memory 1TB hard drive AMD Radeon HD 6770M with 512MB Does anyone have experience of the 737NGX on the system above? Would anyone be able to provide me with some benchmarks. I've seen this topic mentioned a few times in the forum and asked a few times myself but I haven't really found a definitive answer. Thanks for reading.

Building a new PC
Hello Ryan,Thank you very much for your reply. It has been very informative.Sorry for the mix up about your role at PMDG! Basically I need an imac for work related reasons, but I want something that will be able to handle FSX well. There is no way I can give up FS.The points you have made about not being able to overclock are very valid, plus consdering the fact, that you have an ultra high resolution display (2560 x 1440), and a mobile graphics card (2gb though, which I am sure will help), means you will not be able to achieve performance in fsx at its fullest. However, would it still be sufficent enough to run something like the PMDG 737NGX, with no scenery addons, at a fairly steady frame rate (30 fps +/-).I am in such a dilemma right now! on one hand I really need a mac, but on the other hand I really want to continue enjoying FS and the soon to be released 737 and future PMDG products.

Building a new PC
Hi Guys,Apple has just released new iMacs.I am interested in the following model:27 inch display (2560x1440 resolution)3.4ghz i7 2600k8gb RamATI HD 6970M 2GB (equivalent to Desktop HD 6850)I think these are pretty goods specs, but my concern is the resolution. 2560 x 1440 is a very high resolution, and I think (not sure) that such a high resolution can have quite an impact on the framerate. (I don't want to use anything less than the default resolution as the image quality looks poor).I will not be using this computer for mainstream gaming. The only game it will run will be FSX, with the PMDG 737NGX (no scenery addons).I would be very interested in hearing what Ryan (tabs) has to say as he seems to know alot about computer hardware and is also a beta tester of the 737NGX.

A question for iMac users
Out of curiousty how would FSX and a PMDG aircraft run on a 27 inch iMac:The latest specification of one is:2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 16GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAMATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB GDDR5 SDRAM1TB Serial ATA DriveThis is quite a good configuration, but I wonder how will the screen resolution of 2560-by-1440 pixels effect the performance. These are a lot more pixels than your average display

A question for iMac users
Thanks for the information guys.As more and more of my development involves using a mac, and the fact that I just love using OS X, it is an obvious choice for me to purchase an iMac as my next system. At the moment the highest spec iMac has an i7 CPU with an ATI 5870, which in my opinion is quite a good specification.

A question for iMac users
Are there are any iMac users here, that run FSX + PMDG aircraft (747 or MD-11 in particular).I am curious to know what your frame rates are like with these aircraft. A lot of my development work is done on macs, and I am in the position of buying an iMac (i5 3.6ghz, Radeon HD 5750, 4GB) quite soon.FSX is probably the only reason why I am still holding back, otherwise I would have made the switch. It would be informative to know what kind of performance users are getting before I make the purchase.Kind Regards,Awais M.

How to become a BETA tester?
I am currently working as a functionality games tester for one of the most recognised publishers in the world. Would that be of interest to anyone here?

Help with decision in
In anticipation of the 737NGX, I have decided to give my PC a slight upgrade.I currently have a NVIDIA GTX 285 graphics card fitted in my system, and planning to upgrade that to a GTX 480. But I am a little unsure as I keep hearing that FSX is more CPU bound, and upgrading the graphics card will not make that much of a difference. My CPU currently is an Intel i7 920 @ 2.67Ghz, and too be honest I am quite satisfied with it.

I've finally switched to using VC mode
For now what I've done is assigned the pan mode function to a button on my joystick, this way I can keep my hand on the joystick at all times and use my other hand to operate around the cockpit with the mouse. This seems to be a good enough solution for now, but I think I may end up purchasing TrackIR, as that is probably the most 'realistic' solution.

I've finally switched to using VC mode
Speaking of which, is there an easier solution for panning around? When I am hand flying it is problematic for me to let go of the joystick, hold space and then use my mouse. I don't like the idea of pressing shift-o each time either.Ideally I would like to enable/disable pan mode with a mouse click instead of using the keyboard, is that possible?

I've finally switched to using VC mode
In preparation for the upcoming 737NGX, after viewing those beautiful VC previews, I thought perhaps it is finally time to make the change. We are at a level now where the quality of the VC is as good or perhaps even better than any static 2D image.I've always been a big fan of 2D panels, but from now on I will use the VC. I done a few test flights in the 747 and MD-11, and I have to say, it is definitely a much more immersive experience. So yay another VC user :-)

Time To Start Talking T7
The 777 will defenitly be my most used airplane too. I really hope PMDG give the 777 the same kind of love and attention to detail as they have with the 737NGX.

MS Flight Improvement Wish List
My wish list is:Good performance.Use of high quality satellite imagery, I am bored of looking at auto-generated / tiled land textures.A more realistic weather engine; please fix those annoying unrealistic sudden wind/pressure shifts.Better ATC system, that has the ability to handle SID/STAR and Holding procedures. Also, I hate the way ATC keep making you 'step climb' during departure, in the real world its much smoother and altitude clearances are given before the aircraft starts to level off.A central navigation/waypoints database that can be updated. Please still allow developers to implement 2D cockpits, they are still needed for precision flying.Improved flight dynamics. This is something that has never really been improved much over the years. Give developers greater control of playing around with the flight dynamics.

Some Dirt on the PMDG 737 NGX
Ah yes, I think we are all anxiously waiting for a new update.

2D Cockpit Landings
I personally still prefer a 2D cockpit when flying airliners. Also, I tried changing the WideView settings to true, as I have a widescreen too, but the view in the 2D cockpit looked far too stretched for my liking. I assume this setting works best for VC users.Regards,Awais M.

Some Dirt on the PMDG 737 NGX
I hope the 777 will get the same kind of care and attention to detail from the developers just as the 737NG is getting. Regards,Awais M.

State of aircraft when entering the flight deck
When the pilot enters an aircraft that has recently flown in, and is ready for its next flight, what is usually the state of the flight deck? I am assuming it won't be a 'cold and dark' cockpit, and all power will be up and running. Will air conditioning be running as well if the aircraft is in a hot climate?Regards,Awais M.

New Microsoft Flight Simulator announced!
Like I said in another post, I feel the new name gives the franchise a new and fresh feel. Flight Simulator 11 would have sounded pretty boring.Kind Regards,Awais M.
