A little concerning the "Simulator" part has been dropped. Some sourceshttp://www.microsoft.com/Presspass/press/2010/aug10/08-16MSGamescomPCPR.mspxhttp://i.joystiq.com/2010/08/17/microsoft-flight-announced-minus-the-simulator/http://www.thebitbag.com/2010/08/16/microsoft-returns-to-its-roots-in-pc-gaming-with-2-new-titles/EDITThanks to wims who found a working MS webpage with teaser videohttp://www.microsoft.com/games/en-us/community/pages/gamescom.aspxAlso, official dedicated website works nowhttp://www.microsoft.com/games/flight/ Jay Vorkapic
August 17, 201015 yr The last link you have there "thebitbag" seems a good read. The others seem based on the article quoted above, it's from Aug. 17, 2009, weird. The user comments were fresh though. This looks like possibly some great news, let's hope it happens :Big Grin:I still have my doubts though since allot of links in this article don't work. The one that says to look at for a taste/tease is inop also:http://www.microsoft.com/games/flight.As is http://www.ageofempiresonline.com./Here's a good link (not many of them out yet):The interesting article is:"Microsoft is also working on Microsoft Flight, a new Windows exclusive game that is being developed internally. Microsoft launched its Flight Simulator game for the first time 28 years ago. Lots of fans worried that the company had shuttered the franchise after a bunch of layoffs. But now the company has evidently revived the game franchise. No other details were available on it." i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
August 17, 201015 yr Author wims in my original thread posted a working link with video teaserhttp://www.microsoft.com/games/en-us/community/pages/gamescom.aspx Jay Vorkapic
August 17, 201015 yr Hmm, It also looks like it may be a spin off from Simulation to more of a game type thing."Now Microsoft Flight brings a new perspective to the long-standing genre, welcoming new pilots and long-time fans to experience the magic of flight!"Don't get me wrong haha, I hope its a new FS, I just see all the Windows Live thing and cringe at what it may be instead :wink:Either way it's GREAT news, since at least they are returning to PC gaming! Now give those poor ole Aces chaps back their jobs! i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
August 17, 201015 yr Author The 2009 part is some error.Maybe your right it might be a more casual spin off the simulator series, hopefully we find out more when Gamescom actually starts. As for old Aces stuff I am pretty sure you would have trouble getting them back, they're probably enjoying themselves too much working on their own projects. :) Jay Vorkapic
August 17, 201015 yr If this is not a simulator I most likely won't buy it. If its just some "game" then its not worth my time.
August 17, 201015 yr Author If this is not a simulator I most likely won't buy it. If its just some "game" then its not worth my time.I do agree but I feel MS might have dropped the Simulator part in a attempt to attract people that normally scared off by sims. Hopefully it stays PC exclusive too wasn't made to find it's way to Xbox.I am curious though, now it has been announced were any of the top end payware developers (like PMDG) notified about this earlier? IIRC before Aces was dropped they were working with payware developers were they not?EDITOfficial dedicated webpage works now and has been added to first posthttp://www.microsoft.com/games/flight/ Jay Vorkapic
August 17, 201015 yr Like I said in another post, I feel the new name gives the franchise a new and fresh feel. Flight Simulator 11 would have sounded pretty boring.Kind Regards,Awais M. Regards, Awais Muzaffar
August 17, 201015 yr It is interesting how Microsoft just took the word "simulator" out of the name. The fact that "Flight" will support (i.e. mandate) the use of GFWL is also a bit disconcerting.Reading between the lines of the announcement you can only wonder if "Flight" will become a casual game with social networking integration, archievements and cross-platform gameplay. Although "Flight" was announced as "Windows Exclusive", I would take that with a grain of salt. Several, once "Windows Exlcusive" titles were eventually released for the XBOX360, "Alan Wake" comes to mind. The Amelia Earhart rip-off indicates a more story driven gameplay. If I am not mistaken the aircraft visible in the trailer is a Boeing Stearman. So this might be one of the flyable aircraft.Let us hope "Flight" will retain some resemblance to the old Flight Simulator and be open to third party developers like PMDG. With the recent development in the games industry in mind, I think Microsoft could try to introduce DLC to the simulator market. There is a lot of potential for both excellence and failure with this reboot. August 17, 201015 yr I too hope it will be a simulator and not a game. Also hoping that it will be possible for PMDG to patch their planes for MS FLIGHT if it turns out to be any good (performance wise). My 2 cents. Sander Rutte
August 17, 201015 yr The movie they posted is obviously not the actual "Microsoft Flight." However, I do not think that the new msflight will have a simulator aspect to it, but rather only a game aspect. It's going to be all about missions and things like that with a pretty background. August 17, 201015 yr Mod- Can we lock this thread so as to keep all the MS Flt confined to the main one in the hangar forum? Eric
August 17, 201015 yr Commercial Member i thinks its really important that they missed"simulator"i bet its some cheap arcadey thing Alex Ridge Join Fswakevortex here! YOUTUBE and FACEBOOK
August 17, 201015 yr i will definitely not purchase this as my pmdg aircraft wont work for this and besides whats the difference between lets say fsx and fs9 not much and besides the only 2 aircraft i will be purchasing are the ngx and 777 and they're for fsx so im covered
August 17, 201015 yr So now we'll have FS9 vs FSX vs FSFlight wars? Oh gods... I'm more interested in some 10GB patch for FSX, but if they will put good physics and possibility to add mods then PMDG will change it into excellent simulation
