Overtake at Short Final

Featured Replies

Hi there, I was approaching at short final, 200ft AGL in Cessna Citation, when pirate in B737 overtake me. I was flipped upside down through his wake turbulence and crashed in the trees. I knew he was close, but ATC told him 'follow the Citation', which he ignored. Is there a way of keeping the separation during approach? I use UT2 and do not want to stop the traffic when focused on kissing the runway.I've read something on other forums regarding AIsmooth, but this posts were old enough. This could be free, this could be expensive, but has to be efficient.

That was probably me as I was flying a 737 at the time and a Citation in front of me was coming in really, really slow. I was wondering what happened to you as I screamed by. Flipped upside down and crashed into the trees huh? :( AI Smooth is the only method other than turning your AI slider way, way down and that's not a fun thing. AI Smooth works with my Windows 7, 64 bit. The program does a good job. Best regards,Jim
Press ctrl+shift+p and UT2 will clear the approach.
In UT2 #2.07 the default for clearing AI aircraft from apporach is "ctrl + shift + a" you must have changed the default?

I bought UT2 a few months ago, my conclusion is that AI traffic does nothing but p#@!# me off, so I just do most my flights on VATSIM, sure it can be a lonely place sometimes, but when you see another aircraft at least its a real person in control, not to say something like that won't happen to ya online :( But until there is an ATC program that will grab the AI by the balls and tell it to behave Im done with it.

My UT2 traffic shows up on VATSIM using FSInn.

I think I just posted the wrong command.

Jim,Any chance you could post your AISmooth config? I've been meaning to try it for a while to see if I can reduce the stacking and go-arounds with UT2...

The problem of aircraft coming up behind you on finals can easily be solved by simply flying the A2A B-17G and ensuring the tail gunner has a good supply of extra-lengthy ammunition belts.Al

:(With UT2 you could assign Control + Shift + A to your your stick trigger!

Ryan: I have not adjusted the default settings and it works well for me (so far). I do not use UT2 but have MyTrafficX Pro 5.3. I use to have almost a 100% chance of a go-around with FSX AI settings around 70% and now I don't as the program puts the AI into a holding pattern until I land. Or, like at KSFO, I see AI landing on the parallel runway, 28R while I'm landing on 28L. I wish it could be incorporated into all AI programs. Hope this helps!Best regards,Jim

Thanks everybody for involving.I take the AIsmooth. It was good enough, near ZGHS - the approach took me ~20 minutes, and only one holding. Will tweak the settings more and share with You

I have been using AISmooth for ages. It works. I was still getting the odd aircraft cut me off on finals and I asked on another forum (Flightsim.com) if anyone had some recommended settings. JSkorna replied and advised the following settings:Change Heading Range to "360"Change Minimum Separation Time to "120"Remember to click on the OK button to save.JSkorna said there still may be a "cutter" aircraft that occasionally gets through, but it should be rare.I was occassionally getting the odd aircraft cut me off, but, to date, with these suggested settings, I have not been cut off once.

Regards,

Freddy
