June 27, 201015 yr Hey guys,As part of my longing to keep with FS9 although I must admit to using FSX, one thing I will keep FS9 for is the opportunity of using the great retro era's currently available for FS9. So my question is. I have a great set up for the 1970's, 1980's but would like to ask the following, ai, airports, RFP B747, DM B111, Captain sim B707 etc. :( 1. Best DC10 payware. I have Aerosim classics V2 but is the CLS DC10 better than the included DC10 in Aerosim?2. I bought Dreamflight B727 as it was cheap but is the CaptainSim better?I want realism , the more realistic inside the cockpit the better. The flight dynamics also. I can live with a slightly downgraded outside model as I only fly from within the cockpits and can accept that there is a poor VC.Any opinions???? :( CheersMiles
June 27, 201015 yr 1) I actually hate the CLD DC-10 and I don't see what's good about it. many people think it's good, but in my opinion, the Aerosim is more accurately modeled. The VC is far better, although that may be surprising. System simulation is about the same between the two of them, however. The Aerosim does come with a pretyy well-modeled INS and the A/P does its job fine. The CLS doesn't do a lot more than that too, so I'd suggest sticking with the Aerosim model.2) No, the CS is not better. It's probably nicer in terms of visuals, but regarding systems I'd say the DF is a lot better and a more accurate. Plus, it comes with a useful manual, and the CS does not. Not really, anyway...So, by the sound of it, I’d say you should stay with what you have. For FS9 these are the best around, although I admit the lack of repaints for the Aerosim DC-10 is disappointing, as it's much better than the CLS one, in my opinion. Heard somewhere that it does not support the CIVA 150 but 140, which worries me. I am flying the old steam way with charts but would be nice to have that Civa 150 support and will try today. The CLS I just wanted to check but yes few repaints I am after a BCAL DC10-30C but cannot find one.CheersMiles
June 27, 201015 yr Hi With regard to DC-10 I only have Aerosim Vol.2 - I have no CLS products so I cannot compare. As for 727, stay with DF727, except fisuals don;t bother with any thing else. Sam. Waiting for the 64-bit PSION Flightsim for ZX-Spectrum ////
June 27, 201015 yr In FS9 I always felt that the three best jetliners that I had purchased were the DF727, PMDG 747, and the Level-D 767. After I purchased my new computer, the only big jet that I am currently flying is the DF727. The other two will be loaded shortly, but for the money and the complexity of the flight model the DF727 is outstanding. That said, have you looked at the PMDG MD-11? I may eventually dig down deep in my pockets and buy it, but I'm a little put off by their asking price. I pulled down their AOM and it is huge, detailed and complex. It looks like a great simulation model and I may have to bit the bullet and dig out the credi card.Tom
June 27, 201015 yr I don't have any DC10 models as I've never seen one that looked real enough to pull me into it. But can agree with the recommendation on the 727. I did the original AVSIM review of the CS 727 back in FS2002 days and it was really cutting edge then but it shows its age now. I still fly it occasionally and enjoy it, but the DF727 is a far more realistic and immersive product.

In its day the CS was great, but the DF is by far the better product. Seeing that I have more 'real' hours in a 727 than I care to remember, the DF is in a whole nother league for realism. Also, being on the beta team of the DF 727, I can tell you they tried to leave no stone unturned in its conception.Best to allClay
June 27, 201015 yr Not to side track the thread, but does anyone know if the DF727 run on a win 7 64 bit system??? Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.
June 27, 201015 yr I like the cls Dc-10 remember it has the following models. I do have to agree that from the shots I saw of the aerosim Dc-10 it is really nicely modeled and cool thing you get the L1011. as far as which one the best I really couldn't say as I only on the cls model but they both seem too have there strength and weakness.DC10-10 DC10-10FDC10-15DC10-30DC10-30FDC10-40DC10-40FKC10AKDC10 Cesar Martinez AMD 7800X3D RTX5080 NZXT N7 B650E | G.Skill 32GB DDR5 Samsung 980 Pro 2TB | Crucial MX500 (2×) | Crucial P3 Plus Monitor: Philips Evnia 34M2C6500 QD-OLED
June 27, 201015 yr To answer two questions in the above posts, I am running the Dreamfleet 727 on Windows 7 64 bit with the CIVA INS 1.51 installed. Everything works exactly as it did in XP, except the framerates are a lot better, especially in heavy weather.Peter Peter Schluter

June 28, 201015 yr Gerry,The DF727 runs great under my W7 64Bit OS. I had a small problem with the configuration manager but the solution to my problem was posted under another topic. Here is the link to the "patch/update" that fixed my CM issue.http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=20345 Tom
