July 16, 201015 yr I second this...I haven't had the chance to try Nandan's merge yet, but my VC is working. Sort of. I don't remember the origin of the merge, I downloaded instructions from the web but have made extensive modifications later. July 16, 201015 yr I did for the 772 and it works well, see PSS forum. Thanks, but could you redirect me to the thread you mention? I tried to locate it but couldn't...As for others, thanks, seems like many people seemed to got it all working. Could somebody post screenshots of both night and day VC, and can it be guaranteed that AP functions are good? I find LNAV and VNAv to be vital, with A/T, LOC and G/S also being very inmportant. basically, within the confines of the PSS777, I want to have a merge that still gives me the ability to do a fully automated flight if I so wish.By the way, I have to ask: there is no way to save panel states on the PSS 777, so what do you do when in the middle of a long haul flight with this plane? You can't just save and stop, because then you lose everything. Only doing short hops isn't exactly what I had in mind, though. Any suggestions?EDIT: By the way, what happened to the old layout of the POSKY website... I find I'm unable to find anything now. Where have all the great repaints for the 777 gone?! July 17, 201015 yr Author The 777-200 takes alot of time to get to cruise, ok, due to the thrust rating. Keep that in mind folks.Oh yea, you must have the PSS SP2 to get the merge to work.
July 17, 201015 yr Author Just did a flight with the 777-200 merge. Doesn't seem it can cruise at mach .84, but I was a bit heavy. It guzzled alot of fuel. 62000lbs > 25000lbs from KDEN > KSFO. But I did a few turn etc and a hold etc so the fuel flow is pretty good I suppose. But yea, it is working fine for now. Was N775UA engines PW4074s or PW4077s? PW4074s aye...Cheers
July 17, 201015 yr Sigh. Why am I even bothering. I won't buy the PSS in a million years anyway... Not because I think it's bad, but because I need plane that can save my panel states. How on earth am I gonna do a flight that lasts five, heck, even two hours with this plane without stopping half way because I need to go somewhere? Or use the "pause at top of descent" feature.
July 18, 201015 yr I don't have the time, and there's no way escaping from that fact. Before I get in the air, I usually spend 45 minutes doing preflight and cockpit preparation. Then there is the flight itself. So, I usually have a minimum of three hours per flight. On normal days I have to use my laptop, which is my FS computer, for work so I can not start a flight and then leave it. My days at university usually are from 9 to 5, and when I get home, I have stuff to do. It's only the evenings I have free, and such evenings only last 1,5 hours. My hands are tied. The only moment I could use non-panel saving planes, is in the holiday, but I do not want to fly the 777 only in the holidays. I want to fly it whenever I feel like, like I'm doing now with my panel saving planes. So thanks for the suggestions, but I'll have to wait for somebody releasing a good panel saving 777 for FS9, or simply switch to FSX and use the PMDG one when it is released. In three months I hope to have a new computer, so who knows... July 18, 201015 yr Author Yea ok, fair enough.Anyone know the thrust rating on the UAL 777-200(not ER). Is it PW4074 engines with 74000lbs or PW4077 with 77000lbs or PW4084 with 84000lbs? Anyone know which is used on UALs 777-200s(not ERs)?Much appreciated, it's for the merge aircraft.cfg thrust setting. Or I might just crank it up to 84000lbs, since it's finding it hard to cruise at above mach .8 yet alone above lets say mach .77-.78.Cheers
July 19, 201015 yr I finally came around to doing an autoland and can attest that also works wonderfully. Great work Nandan!Matt
July 20, 201015 yr Author Haha, thx, actually got help from someone on it. I think you just had to adjust the weights and thrust, maybe this is why the ILS works huh. Anyone use Fspax with it? It's hard for this merge to climb if you load lots of cargo and pax. I tried it. Not sure thrust on UALs 777-222s (not ERs). If it's 84000lbs thrust just change it in the turbine engine data. Just change thrust and fuel for different variants for the 777-200/200ER and weights I guess or you might be underpowered as I found out. It might help you climb if you're using fspax weights. If not, i think I remembered doing a LAX > SFO flight, and it's works quite well (cruise at good mach speed). I was having 74000lbs thrust with putting the max takeoff weights for 777-200 (not good combo for fspax) Just keep that in mind.Hey Matt, was the fuel consumption also good? Good too hear from users :(
July 21, 201015 yr Author Found a site that has airlines and 777 engine info. Check it out. Good for static thrust in turbine engine data for specific planes and airlines I guess. Here it is:http://www.triple7-world.info/777prod.htm
July 21, 201015 yr Hi Nandan,Please be aware that B772 and B772ER has differences in:- Maximum Take Off Weight (MTOW)- Fuel Capacity- Engine thrust--> you can easily find the 777 specifications from wikipedia.orgAnd to make 777-200 merge works, you should also modify the .air file on the Thrust section. Because if not, the plane will have a difficulty to climb...This is caused by the original .air file from PSS is designed for 772LR and has different climb performance. If you merge 772LR or 773ER with PSS, it will be easier because the .air file is already there.PS. please also be aware that the fuel flow of 777 when cruising are about 6000 to 7000 kg/hour (both engines combined) those are my 2 cents. :)Regards.
