Bill,I finally found some time to apply my mind to this one.I experimentally removed my Flight Simulator 9/scenery/asia directory and contents and replaced it with a fresh copy from a "clean" version that I keep for testing etc. Bingo - the coastlines show correctly. The worry with doing this is, of course, that other addons (with nothing to do with this issue) have changed some of these files for a reason and putting the originals back could cause problems elsewhere.Close comparisons between old and new show the following files as being different:AB955180.bglAB955190.bglAB973300.bglAB974300.bglAB974310.bglAB974320.bglAB975310.bglAB975320.bglAB975330.bglAB976320.bglAB976330.bglAB976340.bglAB977340.bglAB978340.bglAP965180.BGLAP969210.BGLAP969210.BGLAP969210.BGLAP970110.BGLAP970120.BGLAP970210.BGLAP970220.BGLAP971220.BGLAP976340.BGLAP978230.BGLAP978300.BGLAP981160.BGLFL955180.bglFL955190.bglHL955180.bglHL955170.bgl **HL955180.bglHP955170.bgl **HP955180.bglHP957190.bglHP957200.bglnv9ASIA0.BGLRD955170.bgl **ST955170.bgl **All of those have been changed by one addon or another. In particular, I know that those marked ** relate to Istanbul sceneries and those prefixed AP apply to airports and not coastlines so these are not going to be the culprits. So it is going to be one or more of the others. JohnPS - I don't think it is the AB files either . . .

Thank you Dave and Joe, I was sort-of hoping somebody would chip in and give a list. That reduces the suspects to a nice small number.nv9ASIA0.BGL is definitely a default file.John

Thanks John (and also Dave and Joe for the additional information). I have tried to identify all the HL and HP files in the asia section which have been changed (mainly the ones you listed above) and have restored them one at a time to bgl files and then run fs9 each time but the problem persists! Does anyone know what 'numbers' (eg 955180) pertain to the Singapore area?Bill

This is rather easy to determine.Read my post in this thread, particularly the info about LWMViewer- http://forum.avsim.net/topic/294048-lost-fs-2004-default-scenery/page__view__findpost__p__1816837regards,Joe
Hi JoeI determined that 975310 is the area associated with WSSS, but restoring the original HL975310 and HP975310 files has not resolved the problem. Will have to think a bit more about this and play around with the LWMViewer that you recommend, to see if some other file is responsible!RegardsBill

I was having the same problem after D/L singapore Changi from AVSIM RU site. There were 7 files in the D/L and one was in acrylic and i didn,t recognize the type of files it contained so i ignored that one.One file was called scenery and contained 2 folders ASIA and WORLD.Now in the Asia folder there were a lot of those AP/AB/HL etc files and it said to place them in the SCENERY/ASIA/SCENERY folder overwriting the ones already there. That is when my scenery problem started, the 2 most noticable buildings in the water were a football stadium and one square type building next to it.So i got the same files that i had overwritten from the MSFS disc 4 and overwrote the ones i had previously overwritten. This cured the problem and now the 2 buildings are back on dry land.StanPS. Another problem with the scenery was an "wsssDELETE AF2" file in one of the other airport files which deleted the ramp and runways at Changi.Once i removed that file the ramp and runways re-appeared.

Hello again,I hesitate to suggest this because it's going to take you some time...Disable all your addon sceneries in FS9's library.Take a look to see if the problem persists. If it's still there, make a copy of the default scenery folder. Don't delete it, there may be stuff in there that you'll need to keep. A lot of addon developers indulge in the bad practice of replacing default files instead of putting a replacement in the addon scenery folder and disabling the default by renaming. Reinstall the asia scenery files from the relevant FS9 disc. Sorry (again) I can't remember which disc and can't remember which *.cab file to look in. With fresh default asia scenery and all addons disabled the problem almost certainly will have cleared up.If the problem cleared up when you disabled all your addons (and you didn't need to reinstall the default asis scenery), start putting them back. One at a time is sloooooow if you have a lot. Quicker is to do half of them in the first pass, half of what's left on the second pass, then half of the remainder on the third pass et c... 87% eliminated in three restarts. Even if you have a full 1000 scenery layers, after 5 restarts you'll have narrowed it down to 31 layers. Just remember to note which layers you reactivate each time. That way you'll be able to identify which addon package contains the rogue file. I think we're agreed it's a LWM file but whether or not the addon developer adhered to Microsoft's naming standard is questionable (another bad practice). When you've identified the package you will only have a couple of folders to look through and I guess the rogue file will be a *.bgl and probably in a ..\scenery rather than a ..\texture sub-folder.The order in which you have your scenery layers installed won't make a difference to LWM. Anything not explicitly defined as water becomes land by default. Any extra LWM files for the same area will simply take further bites out of the coast where the 'undefined default terrain' land once stood and the result is the same regardless. Two LWM 'files' in the pic below. Red on top or green on top makes no difference- you get the minimum of land either way.I hope that helps a little...Regards,Dave

Hi StanSounds like a very similar problem to mine. What was the actual filename of that Singapore Changi download? I just wonder whether I might have installed that scenery at some stage in the past and forgotten it!Bill

The file was "18842_Singapur" and it is on avsim ru.If you have got that "Wallahula mine" scenery list there is a link which takes you straight to the D/L.

Thanks - found the link on Walhalla and downloaded the file. The strange thing is that, although I can never recall downloading or installing this file before (and it is not on the external hard drive where I store my downloads), I have checked the relevant files in SCENERY/ASIA/SCENERY and they have been overwritten, it seems, by the same files from 18842_Singapur!! I have replaced the HL, HP and UT975310 files with the original ones from MSFS Disc 4 but the problem persists! Maybe I also need to replace the other files (AP/AB etc) for the 975310 area and see if that makes a difference. Am reluctant to replace the modified files from other scenery areas however in case that affects other places! Bill
