July 31, 201015 yr Is there an airport ILS information utility or program available that provides ILS freqs for runways. After being given landing runway from ATC, I want to be able to set my ILS frequency for runway capture without leaving 3d configuration.ThanksWilbert Wilbert
July 31, 201015 yr The default GPS is ideal for this. Hit the outer ring on the G500 to select the Waypoints page. Hit the cursor button and enter your airport code, then hit the inner ring to turn to the airport facility page. If it's a big airport then you'll have to hit the cursor button again and scroll down to where the runway info is. When you find the runway you're looking for hit the Enter key and the frequency will be transferred to NAV1 on the radio stack.Perfect! If you get lost then check out the Learning Centre. ONE of the features is that you'll get an ACARS device in the cockpit, with navaids and weather infos for the destination.RV See U in the cloud(s) Galleries @FlyEM Flying Ideas
July 31, 201015 yr Highmike is right that you can use the default GPS to get this information. I've found that sometimes this is a problem in itself. In areas of relatively high aiport density, you can't get the destination airport to show on the "nearest airport" list until you are 20 miles or less from the airport. If you're flying a heavy or fairly fast, it can make you get busy quickly to get the info entered. If this happens, pause the sim, get the info, adjust your radios and set for ILS.To counter this, I usually go on AirNav prior to the flight and get the ILS info for the dest airport and jot it down on a note. Ancient technology, I agree, but it works. There was a gauge available in FS9 that did what you are asking but I'm not sure it will work in FSX. Thank you. July 31, 201015 yr You could also go to digital - Terminal Procedures Publication (d -TPP)/ Airport Diagrams and download and print out the relevant plates and airport diagrams that give you the frequencies and such of navaids and the airport, at least for the US. In areas of relatively high aiport density, you can't get the destination airport to show on the "nearest airport" list until you are 20 miles or less from the airport. You can get the facilities info ahead of time; I usually dial in my destination airport before I leave so I can put the ATIS frequency in the COM1 standby holder.I already outlined to procedure above except to say that when you enter your destination code on the Waypoints page you hit the cursor to make the field active, then hit the inner ring to select input mode, then type your code in on your keyboard. It's a lot easier than using the rings to enter the code! Mike Beckwith
August 1, 201015 yr To counter this, I usually go on AirNav prior to the flight and get the ILS info for the dest airport and jot it down on a note. Ancient technology, I agree, but it works.I think that this is the easiest way and it is what I do. You can also use AirNav to get all your sid and star information along with your ILS approach information.
August 1, 201015 yr Author Thanks for all the suggestions. I was hoping that there was a simple program that could provide this for me without leaving my 3d mode. I ususally go to Airnav also before I start but I have to copy all runways because I do not know which runway ATC will give me. I tried the GPS gauge however like someone mentioned earlier, most times I am too close when I can get the info from that source. I decided to print out all the airport diagrams that I frequent and write the ILS freqs on the printouts. Thanks,Wilbert Wilbert

For airports in mountainous regions, the approach plates even show the mountains in relief or topographical display. They also have SID and STAR plates and it is all free for use from the FAA and are updated approximately every 28 days. Supporter GhostRecon.net | AGgReSsion WhiteKnight77's Place Mike Shannon
