no, deleting the cfg is not the solution...let it repair with the disc.... I don't have oddities with the repair...

Try exploriing your recycle bin and see if you can restore them.

O.k, thankyou, did repairing from disc have any conflicts with addon scenery or aircraft? will i need to re-install sp1 opr sp2.Regards,Chris

You can uninstall SP1 and SP2, then repair and reinstall SP1 and SP2normally, Addons and Screnery should not be affected...but, to go from beginning:how have you lost your standard planes? Are the folders still there? Are maybe "just" the aircraft.cfgs deleted?Maybe we could solve this without repairing...but a little more infos abut that, please!

Well, i was toying around with WOAI and then bought my traffic x and so manually deleted the woai folders along with the default plane folders, i had then emptied the recycle bin and lost the lot, its not major but its annoying as i get an error message at startup and well, its something that is not normal. Thanks for your help on thisChris

It's simple: You will have to re-install FSX completely. Otherwise, you will have to download the default plane from someone who has repainted the same aircraft, but has included the entire model.

No, you do not need to re-install FSX complete. A repair install will replace anything missing, like the default aircraft.

Unfortunately, the repair install won't work if you have any of the software files missing, such as the "crack" files that came with the DVD when you first installed FSX. Mine was completely corrupted once, and I had to install the whole thing from scratch. Suprisingly, the add-on aircraft remained1 Dave

Really??? I've used the repair dvd a couple of times, with complete success - all missing/corrupt files being replaced without any issue. There must have been something else going on with your system, Dave: what's the point of a repair disc that won't replace missing files?

Agreed, I've seen many folks repair lost files in this way. I think the point here is, you try the repair install first prior to contemplating a full re-install.Yes, there may be times when your particular situation requires that, but first things first. It is not helpful to tell someone they simply must do a complete re-install. That is not good advice. Now, if that has to be done, then I suggest you do what I did (if you have the hard drive space), do a complete re-install, then zip-up and copy that complete new directory for safe keeping. I have done this and it is easy for me to go to that 'virgin' install and copy/paste the files I need from the originals if necessary.

If you've deleted simobjectspath from .cfg, then deleting fsx.cfg and letting it rebuild will fix the problem, but if you deleted the aircraft folders, then only thing you can do is repair.

Well, this one won't. It keeps on showing error messages that the crack files were missing. Dave.

Um.. what do you mean by "crack" files?

To clarify, this directs to the "Crack" folder located on both installation disks. Greg.
