Hi,Well, I finally got everything setup the way I want with two EVGA 480 video boards. I have one MAJOR problem, If I sit at FSDreamTeam's KDFW, my system reboots in a matter of a minute. No BSOD, it just reboots.I checked the temps, max I've seen via Nvidia Inspector is 64C. My P/S is an Enermax 1000Watt with two 8 pin and two six pin connectors made for two video boards such as this.If I am unable to get this worked out within the next day or two, these video boards are being returned to J&R.Anyone have any ideas?.

Hi,Well, I've been giving this some thought and maybe my power supply just can't handle everything. Right now I have an Enermax Galaxy 1000 watt P/S installed in the system.Maybe it's unable run the overclock, 2 DVD drives, 4 hard drives, numerous fans and 2 480's.Well, I just purchased an ENERMAX Galaxy EVO EGX1250EWT 1250Watt power supply. Guess I'll try that, if that don't work, then its got to be the video boards.NewEgg ships fast, hopefully I'll have it in a couple of days. I have 14 days to return the two video boards, so I think I have some time.

Beat me to it as I was just about to give suspect to your PSU.found this doing a search on the web:•Now this GTX 480 is a true pig when it comes to power requirements Nvidia says minumum of 600 watt with one 6 pin PCI Express connector and one 8 pin connector with. In my opinion I wouldnt put anything less than a 650 watt PSU with this card this will allow for overclocking head room. In SLI you gonna need dam near every bit of a 1000 watt power supply. •Recomended is 50 Amps on the 12 volt rail and 71 Amps for SLI. Nvidia seems to be recommending to use a power supply with a single 12 volt rail to power this card but Antec claims their multiple rail PSU's will run it fine I am not to sure on who to believe yet I will update more on this when I see more research on this until I find more info I would suggest getting a PSU with a single 12 volt rail

As jwenham said, you are likely having a PSU overload situation.2 x Fermi 480 + OC'd i7-950 =2 x 250W + 1.5 x 130W = about 700WMust add motherboard, RAM, HDDs, Fans, USB non-powered devicesinto the remaining 1000 - 700 = 300W, that could be a tight fit!Cheers,- jahman.

Hi Everyone,Well, the new power supply shipped today. I should have it by Wednesday the latest.

Mike, get a couple of factory OC 460's.  Really, they are sweet cards and ergonomic. (quiet and cool.).  Current draw is way less that the 480's pretty sure.  Use the $ you will save to go out on the town.  These use the 104 version of FERMI.  BTW I prefer the GigaByte OC dual fan model.  You got to hold it in your hands to appreciate how COOL it is.  2 of these in SLI will clean a single 480's clock.Good Luck. - I know how frustrating builds can be.jja

Hey Mike I was having the same issue with my gtx 480 when I first got it, found my problem was using the BP=0 in combination with increasing my LOD above the 4.5 value ie I used 6.5, anyways my system would either reboot or fsx would just shut down, anyways still using the BP=0 but the LOD stays at 4.5, just thought I would throw that out there, good luck.

Mike,I'm using a 1000w Corsair without any issues.Have you tried removing a card. Try a single card and see if that works. Then swap cards just to do a test of each card individually. If the cards are ok, and I think they should be, the only thing that I know may cause this issue is the PSU.Corsair makes excellent PSUs.

If you've got a utility that will report system voltages, I'd watch the 12v rail(s) with a 3D program running and see if the voltage is dropping way off. If so, then the power supply isn't keeping up. If the 12v rail(s) hold voltage at 12.0v (+/- 0.2), then I would start looking elsewhere. The FSDT Dallas scenery is a new breed that uses shaders in new ways in FSX, so it could well be that something like that plus BP=0 and a massive display resolution is causing problems with video buffer overruns. Whether that would result in a reboot...don't know. RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO

DJJose--I'm curious why you're running an SLI config. As far as FSDT's Dallas scenery...in FSX my 480 runs at 65-70 deg C sitting on the ground there in the PMDG MD-11. At FSDT's KJFK it's more like 52 deg C, so the DFW scenery is definitely loading up the GPU much more.RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO

Bob,When I first discovered the BP=0 tweak, I was blown away by it's simplicity. I knew that the right card and BP=0 would help FSX perform better than ever.I liked the gtx 480 so much that I bought a second one hoping to see even more of an improvement and to prepare me for a 3 monitor setup.I'm well on my way and very happy with my SLI setup so far.

How are you cooling your CPU, and what are your usual core temps? Have you bumped up your IOH or ICH/IOH voltages at all? Are you following the discussion in the other thread? Mike blew up his CPU when he went to 2x 480 SLI, and you're the only guy I know with a similar configuration. I wonder if a comparative anatomy on your two systems might shed some light on where the limits might be.CheersBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO

I haven't had any problems with my setup (just got my second 480 today) so far, although I haven't done extensive testing yet. I've got to run a very high vcore to keep up my OC, but still no signs of bad things to come (fires and explosions... always bad).

Bob,My EVGA gtx 480cards are set up in SLI with stock SC settings. My CPU has the multiplyer set to 30. That's all I've set. The highest temp I've noticed was 60.Most of the time my cpu temp is about 42c. That's using an Ultra ChillTec cooler.http://www.ultraproducts.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4387079&csid=_21Not problems running FSX with an unlimited setting and BP=0.
