September 8, 201015 yr HIGetting back into FS after 2 years away....I thought I would post here as I use FS9. Which is the best AI to use these days?I do have Ultimate Traffic, however have misplaced my CD so will need to re-purchase it again if I go the UT route.I have read widely and many people swear by Project AI.What's the consensus between the two or do you recommend another AI program.I'm not a dire-hard AI fan, but do want some aircraft on regular schedules flying to the airports that I use. Thanks, Iain WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
September 8, 201015 yr Hi, Iain!If you do a short search in the forum, you will see a lot wriiten about it. Advice will vary like everywhere.I guess you will notice people have recommended WOAI (World of AI) for quite a long time.Have a look at http://www.world-of-ai.com/ and see if you like it.They have most world airlines done and there are updates to many of them. The truth is some flightplans are not very current and some airlines are missing but the installation is automatic and you don't have to care much.Additionally, if you know how to use TTools (easy) you can always add on your own something they don't have.As for models, WOAI uses many different models: PAI, EvolveAI, DJC, The Fruit Stand, Malcontent, etc. A perfect mixture.

Yes, I did do search but did not come up with WOAI. I will look at it now.Yes your right in that I would like something automated or semi automated. I like flying and not tweaking with everything. I know how to use TT so adding/subtracting something is pretty easy (I'm sure I'll remember how to do it when I start to play). Thanks, Iain WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
September 8, 201015 yr Hi IainI can also vouch for WOAI. Free, great quality and easy to install/manage.
September 8, 201015 yr Hands down WOAI, you will not be disappointed. :( Onur K. Visit my FS blog: Clear Right...
September 8, 201015 yr Author Hands down WOAI, you will not be disappointed. :(WOW WOW - so many airlines......Quick question: If you install say 20 packages (airlines) does this affect your FS9 speed and performance??With regard to the installer, do you also install FSP Saab 340 Update??I have to say - thank you. Iain WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
September 8, 201015 yr Yup, a big thanks should go especially to the WOAI team. You're right, plenty of airlines to choose from depending on your favorite flight areas. They regularly add new packages too. No tweaking necessary, just load the packages and watch them around the ramp.I have around 140 packages installed on my mid-end laptop, the best part of WOAI is that the models are extremely FPS friendly. You would notice a slight drop at big hubs like EDDF, KJFK, KDFW, EGLL, etc... due to a high number of AI doing their stuff but that as you can imagine can be expected anyway.I only have the standard installer and haven't installed the Saab 340 update but I haven't noticed any irregularities. You won't probably need it as WOAI is very solid but Tom from the WOAI team as well as other members will chime in here in case you run into any problems.Happy landings! September 8, 201015 yr This sounds very interesting... I currently use the payware Traffic2005, but it is quite outdated and not very easy to update. One question though: Are there any "multi-packs" available for download and installation? Or is it required to download and install every airline one at a time?/Johan /Johan Windh
September 8, 201015 yr I agree!I beleve World Of Ai is better then other traffic programms! You have to install every package alone! There is no whole package which is including all airline packages! But I realy can tell you: Its so easy to install ;)
September 8, 201015 yr You have to install every package alone! There is no whole package which is including all airline packages! But I realy can tell you: Its so easy to install ;)Yes that is one thing that would make life much easier for first time installers. I think you just have to download each one. You can however select multiple files in the installer wizard, so after downloading you can just select them all and hit install, rather than installing each one individually. Takes a while but worth it.Remember to get the patches too, I think there are 3 of them.
September 8, 201015 yr WOW WOW - so many airlines......Quick question: If you install say 20 packages (airlines) does this affect your FS9 speed and performance??With regard to the installer, do you also install FSP Saab 340 Update??I have to say - thank you. IainHave nearly all available WOAI ones installed (over 400) with no real problems and even at the busy airports only a fraction of the airlines will be present at any one time. No question about it - WOAI is the best!BillWindows XP Pro SP2; Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0Ghz CPU; Arctic Cool 7Pro; ASUS P5N-E-SLI Motherboard; 4GB Corsair 800Mhz DDR2 RAM; 768MB nVidia GeForce 8800GTX Dual VGA Graphics card; 2x 500GB SATA 7200RPM Hard Drive; 650W (2 x 12V) PSU; 2 x 1000GB Western Digital External Hard Drive; 150GB Western Digital External Hard Drive; CH Pro Yoke and PedalsAll powering 274GB of fs9!
September 8, 201015 yr OK, sounds good. Probably worth the time then.. Has anyone here also used Traffic2005 to compare? One problem with the Traffic2005-AI is that on takeoff they seem to be climbing normally to a specific altitude, say 500ft AGL, then they level out a bit, and then continues it´s normal climb. This happens to every AI (jet and turboprop) about three-four times upon takeoff. Are all AI, regardless of addon product, acting like this?/J /Johan Windh
September 8, 201015 yr Are all AI, regardless of addon product, acting like this?Yes I think so. It might be my imagination but it doesn't seem as pronounced as it did when I was still using Traffic2005.Most AI jets also stop too quickly. Such is life.
September 8, 201015 yr I use a mix of three freeware AI sites:-WoAI is absolutely the biggest chunk. Easy-to-use installers and usually very high quality liveries and models and it is free. Can't beat WoAI!-PAI. Not all WoAI packages were there some time ago, so I went to PAI and got the packages I missed from them.-RATS. Getting Russian AI is very difficult. WoAI and PAI hardly have any of them, and so you are mostly left without any nice Russian airlines. So for those, I went to RATS. However, installing these files is tricky. Often you only get a AI timetable and nothing more. Sometimes there are texture files too, but these may be incomplete. So to use RATS, you have to know what you are doing. Once you figure out what textures to use and have everything downloaded (along with the AI models), you can compile them yourself.I thus have a package I am very happy with that gives me loads of traffic wherever I go. Even when arriving at Moscow, I see Tupolevs and Ilyushins everywhere. Believe, do not go for the payware packages. In FS2004, it's far more rewarding to make your own. Why? Because you'll often get higher resolution and higher quality models and liveries. September 8, 201015 yr Im not sure where people get the thing about installing packages separately. I have all my WOAI packages in one folder, and when you go to load a package to install, you just select all you want and off you go.
