Best AI to use for FS9

Thanx guys. I´ve checked the AFCADs and the Traffic2005 folder was empty after uninstallation..These "charter-airports" are not completely empty, but only too few aircraft for my likings..Another strange thing.. When I open WOAI installer and go into "Expert mode" I only get up six airlines! (All of them I installed one by one...)I don´t really get it.. When I installed all 400+ airlines it compiled for quite some time (30 min+) and when it was all listed, I just got to the "finished" message, without ever having to hit "Install" button... However airports are quite crowded, so the installation did happen, but it felt wierd. Afterwards I installed a few airlines one-by-one (I wasn´t sure they had been installed) and they are the only ones to pop up in the "Expert mode-list" now....... :(

You probably should report that on the WOAI forum (requires a free and quick registration to see all of their forums and to be able to post). The installer "should" have written data to the file named WOAIDATA or for FSX, WOAIDATAX - no extension in either case - as that is what the expert mode consults to see what you have installed. If you installed a great many packages at one time, I suppose the proper data writing could have been compromised. I try to limited multiple package installs to not more than five at a time. But I am prone to error on the side of caution.

A very interesting subject. I find these threads about AI traffic immersive and very interesting because it shows the difference between what simmers want out of add-on traffic and also shows how much more to Flightsim there is than just flying. For me building up AI traffic is a hobby within its own right. I started using Ultimate Traffic because I liked the idea of having traffic that was fundamentally based around real schedules and their forums were helpful which brought a degree of loyalty on my part. With the emergence of WOAI, I eventually decided to give up on UT and used WOAI as the nucleus for my traffic. I then taught myself how to write Flightplans which although daunting is actually quite easy when you know how. Believe me if I can do it, anyone can. If I would find myself flying to an airport regularly, say Helsinki (EFHK) for example, I would go into Airliners.Net and trawl through all the photos of aircraft taken at that airport over the last year or so and then spend a couple of weeks creating or downloading flight plans based on everything I saw. I would repeat this procedure at every airport I flew to and before long I would have airports overflowing with traffic. It is very addictive and also very satisfying seeing traffic you have created yourself !! Being of Polish extraction myself (forget the Polish beer what about some 'Batory Vodka')my eyes were always looking east of The Elbe I was determined to break the back of Russian and East European traffic. Finding aircraft is not that hard if you are prepared to search. Here is a photo showing traffic at Koltsovo(USSS) on my system. All the aircraft I found are either on AVSIM or AVSIM.RU. Most of the FlightPlans I wrote myself but again there are plenty out there if you are prepared to hunt around.

Great snaps speedbird and Rafal - immersing. I'm going to have to increase my flight time, AI and airports in eastern Europe....The US becomes tiresome after a while. Iain

What are the benefits of WOAI over UT?I have had UT since forever, but would switch if there is a good reason. Thanks!

Well, it is all about preference. As I said in my first post I gave up on Ultimate Traffic because I felt that WOAI would give me a good ‘core’ of flights to begin with and from there I would build my own AI traffic either by using flightplans obtained from AVSIM, other sites and also my own. My personal view is, and I think this has been mentioned by other contributors, that the models on UT perhaps are not up to the quality found at WOAI. However, as a package UT will give you far more flights than what is on WOAI at present. Significantly more in fact. Also, as I mentioned previously, I have always found their Support Forum very helpful which to me means a lot. In all fairness WOAI have some very helpful chaps to assist you too. When I had Ultimate Traffic, I was a bit put off with their ‘none’ aircraft. If you own UT you will know what I mean. My argument would be that if you have to hunt around for a texture to fill in a blank looking aircraft, flying for an unknown/obscure airline you might as well find a decent aircraft model, a good texture and an up to date flightplan for that same airline. I suppose to sum it up, if you are up for superb looking aircraft and up to date packages and are also prepared to, if you think it necessary, add on additional flights yourself go down the WOAI route.

Thanks for the info, Speedbird. I went ahead and uinstalled UT in favor of giving WOAI a go. I have actually used WOAI in the past, but never really did more than just install the packages. Perhaps creating my own AI flightplans and whatnot would be a interesting (and fun) project to try out. :(
