Am I the only one missing some kind of 'career' mode, with a persistent aircraft mainteinance?. I would like to be able to create a pilot, 'buy' an airplane, and fly for $$$ or points, experience or whatever. The aircraft systems would worn out and fail consecuently with the flights accumulated. And the Pilot would advance in experience with the flight hours. This could be coupled with the checkrides, so my pilot would have to get a VFR license first, and after some flight time could take the IFR checkride, etc. Also agree with many of the ideas posted here, especially declaring emergencies, weather delays, operating runway lightning... I would prefer improvements on the realism of the simulation over the eye candy (of course this is personal preferences).

Here is some stuff I sent to MS regarding Mulitplayer/Career mode/ Log books etc.Multiplayer: The idea would be to have on the Microsoft server where

hey guys, nice suggestions. how about some performance improvements to go along with these visual goodies? for example...1. make Much better use of the 3d Graphics power we have today 2. Full Hyper-Threading support - Dual Processors as well3. take the max. load possible off of the CPU happy flyin, fm

pro flight 2000 ATC ;) it has almost everything..REAL heavy jets panels and FMC and apu SID And STARS , A REAL flight Planner the default sucks.. fuel prediction and again proflight2000 ATC ( best addon ever) Carlos

Most of my suggestions have already been mentioned. I'll just focus on the need to provide better support for modern hardware capabilites:-GraphicsUtilize bump-mapping for rendering terrain. Ideally the bump-map could be derived from mesh data. For example you could display 30 meter data on geometry that's actually only 75 meter. A simpler approach would be to simply apply bump maps to the base textures. It won't be as accurate as the latter but we will still see the texture transform as the sun moves across the sky. Vertex and Pixel Shaders! All upcoming games now utilize these features one way or the other. While they're mostly used to improve the appearance of water, these shaders can do so much more. In one game I've already seen them create heat blurring effects. In another they create distorton at the edges of a lens.-SoundsFinally support more than 2 speakers. And no, setting "Channels=4" in the CFG does not provide you with true 3D positional sound. I want the Lear's engines to roar from behind as I ramp up the throttle, and wind sound to blast from the front and sides as airspeed increases. The ability to attach sounds to every operating switch, knob, button, handle, etc. in the panels of every default aircraft (like Fly!) Since we can't feel them, we might as well be able to hear them.A warble effect for external aircraft sounds. Anyone who has heard a distant aircraft in flight can attest to the fact that the steady, stoic sounds of FS are far from realistic. In reality the pitch and tone changes randomly every so often due to the varying atmospheric conditions the sound has to pass through before reaching your ear. This effect might be possible using EAX's filtering capabilities.-ControlsBetter Force Feedback support. Currently it seems as if this was only an afterthought. If they can emulate the smoothness and the range of responses FF has in IL-2 I'll be happy.Mouselook for the VC. A large section of the center of the screen would be a "dead zone" where you can operate the cursor/pointer. When the cursor reaches an edge of this zone however, the screen will pan in that direction and the pan speed will depend on how close the cursor gets to the edges of the monitor. For those of us without 19" monitors, an option should be added to automatically zoom unto and increase the update rate of the instrument you are operating.

Wow some very orginal and usefully ideas. Great job and I will second those ideas!NP

Now are you sending this to Microsoft or do you work for Microsoft???

From time to time I submit ideas that I feel would improve FS. In this version I saw many items that I know I at least submitted as things to improve or add. I try not and flood or even mildly over do the emails. I think I've sent 5 emails total regarding ideas for the next version. Instead I like to submit the ideas in this fourm since MS does read it these fourms and hope that as ideas are posted other simmers provide feedback as to what they are thinking allowing for MS to get an idea as to what the buyers are looking for. The more feedback they have to base there development on the better chance we can help design the sim that will sell and be used by the masses. As far as work for MS no. I dont think the MSFS team is allowed to post or reply to threads in forums as a rule. So keep the ideas coming and if you read something you like dont be shy to reply and say so. Just because something might of been mentioned doesnt mean one shouldn't agree or mention it again as a way to show that that idea is very welcomed for future releases.NP

Totally agree Geof,More ground scenery/eye candy. My current around the world flight is mostly at 7000' and below and I love to see the scenery thats available.Cheers,Chris Porter:-outtaPerthWestern AustraliaIntel Pentium IV 3.0GHz (800FSB) Socket 478 pins CPU w/Hyper-Thread Technology MSI 875P NEO FIS2R, AGP 8X, i875P ICH5R Chipset with Gigiabit LanKingmax 512MB PC3200 Double Data Rate (DDR) RAM CAS-2.5- 400MHz Rated x 2BUILT By ATI (Original) Radeon 9800PRO w/TV Out & DVI 128Meg DDRTEAC DV-W50E, 4x DVD-R/ 2x RW, 16xCD-R, 8xCD-RW, 16xDVD, 32x CD-ROM Internal Drive Only Western Digital Raptor 36.0GB HDD IDE, 8MB Cache, 5.2ms, 10,000rpm , S-ATA, w/DataLifeguard WD 40Gig HD for dataATX 470W Pentium IV Power Supply CESkyhawk Jupiter Aluminum CaseHyundai -ImageQuest P910 , 19" Multi-Scan Digital MonitorHercules Game Theater XP, 6.1 speakers Dolby

I agree with someone else that the tone when talking over someone to ATC should be removed, it's most unrealistic. What would be better is to have ATC reply to the other a/c calling, which is the real world clue that you weren't heard by ATC. Also, some random pauses before ATC replies. This doesn't happen much in busy areas but often in more rural areas. Also we now have "position and hold" ATC instructions. To further minimize departure delays, we could get a t/o clearance once the preceding a/c has left the ground and is past the departure end of the runway. Also, as in real IFR departures, sometimes a vector from Tower on the t/o clearance prior to contacting Departures.I'd love to have the arrival issues solved, where a faster a/c just "runs over" a slower one. Maybe some holds on arrival, or time-to-fix instructions. Thanks, good thread,Bruce.

A little off in left field (relatively little to do with the program directly) but....Work with a group of people in the know, both to improve on old and bring it to a whole new market. For example, get with the AOPA and work with them, their members and the huge stack of informational resources they have. Get feedback from pilots and maybe done right, gain a whole slew of new customers for the sim based on AOPAs endorsement of it.That sort of partnership can only lead to good things in the end.I hope I am not offending the group here on this board, however you already own it and know the guts of it, the majority of pilots have no idea....Back to reading my new copy of Flight Training magazine :)-Jonathan

I have two wishes.1.That Microsoft will create a proper interface to the flight sim.Not just a gauge/panel interface but an interface that can hook into and control every variable and setting of the sim without us having to hack things to work. This will make life a lot easier for guys who write custom interfacing like FSUIPC, FDS Connection, etc.At the moment it requires a lot of hacking to get things to work.2.A proper SDK! Not just a document that shows you how to use their sample code but a proper spec of the interfacing mechanism.I do not enjoy wading through 5000 lines of C macros to figure out what the interface actually looks like.Paul
