September 30, 201015 yr Is there any good source for various gauge bezel and screw bitmaps? I am leaning to make simple gauges for my own use but can't draw the bezels or screws. Thanks, Bob.
September 30, 201015 yr Commercial Member There isn't a one-stop source, unfortunately. It means trawling the various aviation-related photo sites and hoping you get lucky with a close-up or a large picture. Alternatively, take a camera to your local flying club, explain and ask. It does work... years ago I got into an SD3-60 that way.-Dai

Thanks, Bob.Bob, I've found the online catalog from http://www.GCA.aero to be a terrific resource for hi-res photos of modern instrument bezels, etc. Fr. October 1, 201015 yr Commercial Member Actually, now I come to remember it, eBay's pretty good for the closeups too. Some of those pictures can be used almost as-is for creating gauges.-Dai

October 1, 201015 yr Moderator If you know the "name" of a specific instrument (or the model number), using the "Image" search of google.com is also an excellent resource......especially since google has revamped their "Image" search function and display. All found images are shown as fairly good sized images, hovering the mouse over any image will popup a zoomed view, and right-clicking allows you to copy/paste directly to your paint program! :( Fr. October 4, 201015 yr Hi Bob,I think a little knowledge in using a photoshop tool or GIMP would be very helpfull in order to modify fotos in size, color, shadows etc. etc. I know, that the art work takes some times much more time than programming. However, the use of a graphic tool is in my mind in most of the cases always required.Best regards Dietmar
