October 17, 201015 yr Is anybody else getting an e-mail that reads the following? Dear Members,Due to phenomenal reception of our free AFTS 2.7 client we are caught in a situation where we need to plead with the flight simulation community for funding since we are currently running over our expected capacity. This is a plea to anyone that can afford to spare a few pounds/euros/dollars or anything we really need to pay for upgrades. We are aiming for a fairly modest amount to build a new Co-Located x 2 Server (which we will obtain at trade prices) to allow us to continue to offer the great service, our current server setup does not allow us any further expandability and as such we are in a real situation and need to act fast. This is an honest and genuine appeal from one of the world's best known flight simulation websites. You do not have to choose a package from the shop we will be automatically issuing vouchers to anyone who makes a PayPal payment to [email protected] if the amounts do not conform to what you can afford. You can also visit our Voucher Shop viaby visiting http://www.simfly.eu/shop.phpAs a thank you to anyone that contributes and uses our AFTS system we are giving 1 Million worth of SF€ to each contribution, if you are not an AFTS user you can give away your voucher code as you please (voucher codes are issued automatically via email upon paypal payment). Many ThanksSimFly.EU Teamhttp://www.simfly.euThis mail list was sent out in accordance with the privacy policy and terms and conditions shown on http://www.simfly.eu. October 17, 201015 yr This is the same guy who had full access to the Avsim servers just before they, er... crashed? Phil, I believe his name is. And people install his software onto their computer without even thinking about it. Give it full access through their firewall, without even thinking about it. Then wonder why they get spam email sent to an email address that shouldn't be getting FS related stuff.Or am I being too paranoid about Phil and SimFly.eu? He's really a good guy just doing all this hard work for the "community"?One thing I'm sure of, never, ever will I install any software that's in anyway related to Phil or SimFly.eu. :(
October 17, 201015 yr Author Well, one thing's for certain. I haven't installed any of his software ever. Not once, not ever. Captain Kevin Air Kevin 124 heavy, wind calm, runway 4 left, cleared for take-off. Live streams of my flights here.
October 17, 201015 yr So I'm not the only one. I have never had anything to do with them either. And got this mail again. Asking for support.
October 17, 201015 yr Nope not a thing from them. Even checked my spam. Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
October 17, 201015 yr After five different attempts over several months their unsubscribe link eventually worked when I tried it when I got the previous spam from them, so fortunately I didn't get this message. It is hilarious how they suddenly need money, I'm betting they are actually desperate for an defense attorney and are tricking the public with a sob story about the server to get money, remember this is the same group that maliciously harvested emails from the AVSIM system.
October 17, 201015 yr I added them to my "blocked senders" list over a year ago - never heard from them again. One should never respond to such queries asking to be removed from their "list" - all that does is verify that your e-mail address is valid.
October 17, 201015 yr I have been getting the junk. It's really annoying, given the history. I have never done any business with them. They should not have my e-mail address but they do. Lose not thine airspeed, lest the ground rise up and smite thee.
October 18, 201015 yr I have been getting this email as well. In the last week I gotten about 5. I have not actually took the time to realy read what he is saying. I have like 5 accounts which I forward to one email address. I have a hotmail whic I use to sign up for something that I know is going to generate spam. I have a personal email that I only give to real people. I will put a block this email. Thanks for the heads up! Mike Keigley

I received my regular spam from them again (two emails in fact). Against better judgment I did use the unsubscribe eons ago when the person who admitted he was the source of the spam claimed it would go away if only we followed his rules. I did so and documented what happened (it did not work and their site responded with some type of "error"). I still feel very, very sad that some stranger who might be good to his family and friends had to go out and make the decision he did. I don't care how he did it, point here is many members here received and are still receiving his spam no matter what they try. What a sad case.Regards.John
