Kind Regards

This is an ideal opportunity for the "Microsoft sucks" fraternity to get in on the act and give us a version of FS that is absolutely perfect in every way and will work on every combination of whatever you can think of.For their first assignment I would like live scenery via a satelite link that will enable me to fly into my favourite airport using weather, traffic and ATC as it is right now without any glitches or download problems.Oh, and BTW, it will need to run on a 1.0 Ghz processor with 128 Meg of RAM and a 16 Mb video card of doubtful origin.Any takers?David

Maybe instead of the old days of one year compulsory military service, everyone should be forced to do one year of game development. I can't think of a better way to silence the whingers. It would be a monumental eye-opener for some.

Or even one year's compulsory time on version 1 of MSFS before being allowed anywhere near the latest stuff :-lolDavid

Thanks for the heads up Chris! for the whinners, it looks like FS10 may be done from the grounf up in some areas:"Your role will be to improve the quality and performance of terrain, scenery, and aircraft rendering technology"!!

Lets hope that they dont employ a yes man with plenty of aviation experience but has never sat down to fly flightsim in their life into that management position. Someone who actually uses flightsim on a regular basis, knows its strong points and knows where it can improve would be the best person for everyone allround.Keeping fingers crossed.Gaz

Looks like a couple of people have got fired or quit including the project manager. I have sent my Resume' to Renton for the later position. Thanks Chris!

Hope your link gets some folks interested Chris...Since I'm already a PM, I had considered at least applying for the PM position.....but.....can't see myself moving to Washington. Several years ago I moved my mother to Arizona to have her close by, and I can't imagine her moving again. Add to that the low cost of living here--I priced homes comparable to ours (which is not a palace by any means) in the Seattle/Tacoma market and found them right around the half million price tag. Finally, much as it sounds like a fantasy job, in my current role I often see that sometimes personal preference has to be sidelined in favor of decisions that make business sense. So my advice (and the reason for my post):anyone applying who loves the hobby as much as I do needs to take into account whether they can live with decisions that favor the business they work for vs. their own personal passions. -John

How about a petition to get Geoffa to be the FS Product Manager.

I for one nominate Chris Willis for everything weather/cloud, etc.. and Chris Arrington for scenery/textures. Both should fly out immediatley to Renton and go straight to the HR office with a CD-ROM showing there work.

Same here! I have many years PM experience here at Boeing, but in SoCal. I once made the move up there (for Boeing Commercial in '92), I took a big pay cut on promises that it was cheaper living up there. BS. Homes were close to here, and most utilities and consumer items cost more due to the smaller market up there compared to here. Was glad when layoffs came and I returned to my family (our home had not sold in the 11 months I was there...so I worked two jobs to keep up each place!)You have to look real close at such big life changes. It is tempting, I already know some that work there. Oh well....

This is of course the first indication that there WILL be a next version (something I'd doubted).Looks like they're also bringing new blood on board to fill positions falling open due to internal promotions or people leaving the company. That's always good news, new people bring new insights.Let's hope they make FS10 as good as or better than FS9 and it will be a killer.

I think this is excellent news. As well done as some of the new changes are, it still leaves a lot to be desired. Flying a sim is a very visual thing. With bugs such as the bridge problem, no ice in Northern and extreme Southern locals, and others, maybe some fresh eyes and more interactiveness with simmers and pilots will develope the next generation sim into the best sim ever. Though many gripped about the "whinners", it is the "whinners" who bring about the need for change. I am glad MS has heard us all on both sides, and is willing to make such a large change to improve a 20+ year project. At least it shows MS wants us to be more satisfied with the next one, than with the present one. Just my thoughts.Don
