I need some help

Featured Replies

Hello, I purchased the j41 today and after several hours I cannot figure out why the airplane will not power on. The default flight(trike) is set per the manual in the free flight menu. I then select the J41 and push free flight. The engines are running but no electricity to the airplane. I also tried to load the j41 tutorial flight, still have no power to the airplane. The battery voltage reads zero. I know it is something I am doing wrong but I give up and need a little help here. Thanks.Win xp ProAMD PHenom II 555 oc'd to 3.7 Radeon 9800 GT Jeff Linvillebtw, this is on a fresh install of FSX sp.2

Jeff,Begin with the tutorial flight. Have you selected the GPU from the electrical panel of the JS41? Is the GPU connected via the SHFT+2 menu?Jeffrey Whitaker

Jeff,Thanks for the reply. Yes the GPU is connected and I tried starting with the tutorial flight. No dice.Jeff Linville

Try starting the flight using the trike then loading the J41 tutorial from there. Loading the J41 from free flight doesn't always work properly - it's an fsxism.John Ellison

Thanks for the reply, yeah I tried that still no electricity. I just did a full removal of FSX and clean re-install. Still nothing. This is getting ridiculous. I am sure its something I am doing though. All my other 3rd party add-ons work fine.Jeff Linville

Interesting. If the GPU is on and the batteries are on you should be able to get power to the FMS. And, if you turn on the avionics that should work too. Other than following the checklists, not sure what's up.

I'm thinking that when I reinstalled the J41 I never got the screen to input my serial key so none of the systems work. I tried another reinstall and still no screen to activate the J41. I opened a support ticket and still have not had any luck with staff contacting me. Oh well, guess I will just have to forget this airplane for the time being.

That might happen if You have disabled "licensing control process", do You use any "shutting down services" tweaks? You can also try disabling Your antivir for time of installation and activation. It was first thing that came to my mind, but it's not polite to ask if You have licensed software, so I said nothing wink.gif

Thanks for your reply, yeah I have a licensed version. I use gamebooster to shut down services when I use FSX. I will try and remove that then reinstall again.

Jeff, Gamebooster doesn't do very much except provide a link to software the company sells. It might provide a little bit <50Mb of free RAM on an unoptimized PC.So you got your double VC/black windscreen issue sorted then did you?

I did get the black screen sorted, since I reinstalled FSx I forgot to install Sp2, that fixed that. Now if I could just figure out how to activate the aircraft.

Here is a good vid

Don't forget the stop latches, feathering and to set your condition levers to flight and you should be ok

Jeff,With Gameboost selected it might not be a bad idea to check that FLEXnet Licensing Service has not been disabled. From the start menue (Vista) search for msconfig. Select the Services tab. Ensure FLEXnet Licensing Services is enabled.Jeffrey L. Whitaker

Robert I appreciate the video link, problem is I dont have any power, no matter what I do. I just did a full reinstall, reformatted the partition FSX resides, reinstalled FSX with all the service packs then reinstalled the j41 and still no power. The throttle doesnt even move. I removed Gamebooster and checked the Flexnet was stopped and it was. So now, how do I reinstall the J41 so the serial number screen comes back? I am using Win xp pro.

Ok tried a reinstall with flexnet enabled still no problem. I have to got to say that this is bull___t, I have spent the last two days trying to get this thing to run. No answer from PMDG. Nothing. I have redownloaded a new installer 5 times, reinstalled FSX 4 times now on a clean partition. What a waste of a weekend and thanks for your help PMDG. I'm out and will call my credit card company for a dispute..................BTW, thank you to those who did try to help. Greatly appreciated!!
