November 13, 201015 yr Hello everyone.I managed to have a go in a 738 Level D sim today at CTC training centre in Nursling, Southampton. It was my first experience in a simulator of this fidelity and it was the most intense experience of my life so far. I have taken a few pics to share with you, but i'm sorry about the blurryness, they were taken on a phone as we did not have a proper camera with us (didnt think they would allow pictures!). I also flew an A320 sim which was pretty awesome too, it was really amazing to actually feel how fly by wire responds and jeez is that sidestick sensitive!I am submitting my application to CTC this month so with a bit of hope I may be starting my training towards my dream job next year!Hope you enjoy the pics. November 13, 201015 yr Hey Sam, never thought there's a simulator near my place (well not that near, but still in SO16 area). Is it open to public?Muzammil Frank M
November 13, 201015 yr Author Hi Muzammil, no its not unfortunately, you have to give them atleast 8k for a typerating first However, you should check out this site http://www.virtualaviation.co.uk who offer time in full motion sims and I believe they might have one at Southampton airport! November 13, 201015 yr I flew the 777-200 full motion sim back in 2000 with virtual aviation was an amazing experience. Then last November a friend of mine invited me to go on 747-400 sim. He paid for an hour, but we ended up almost having 3 as it wasn't booked for a while after. That was done through www.ebaft.com and for a lot less too :) Alaister Kay
November 14, 201015 yr Cool thanks for sharing the the pics with us Sam. I've always wanted to have a go in a full motion sim but i can't really afford it right now!! Mike McLaughlin

November 14, 201015 yr Hey, thanks for the report. I believe originally I should've done training on that very device... didn't work out unfortunately so I did somewhere else. Still great to see what it would've been like to be there, everything looks very clean and shiny. Nice! :(

Still great to see, everything looks very clean and shiny. Nice! :( No problem! Yeah the 738 was very pristine, but the A320 was definately a lot more run down, but that is expected since 90% of CTC cadets are trained on the A319/A320!
