best regards from EDDM munich the better airport in germany :(
... soon to be surpassed by the new EDDB :(
Why would anyone want to disengage the A/T before 100-50 ft? It's against all major airline SOPs...
I fly for American Airlines and there is no requirement to have the auto throttles on here but on approach you have to add speed for wind and gusts if they are off. Half the steady state wind plus all the gusts but no more than 20 knots. I personally turn them off when I turn the auto pilot off. In fact I am at recurrent training right now and am doing my LOFT scenario in a few hours. One of the things we already know about the scenario is that the auto throttles will be MEL'd. The Captain I am with and I discussed it and we are going to have me fly the leg because I am used to flying with the throttles off. I've had a few times on the line with the auto throttles MEL'd too. You lose your skills when you let the automation do it all the time.

Nice!!
Ryan, can you please hint on whats happening at the moment, I'm dying checking these forums, hourly, and once I saw your name as last replied, I freaked out in excitement, I'm not asking for photos, videos, or even a release date, just whats happening, you don't even have to go into detail, just a heads up of whats going on, or expected eta, or there was a delay of some-sort. If you can Thanks a Million.

Maybe the lack of updates means it will soon be released?

I'm beginning to think I should just get the MD-11.

That was harsh Raised%20Eyebrow.gif
I don't think it was harsh, rather, just a statement of fact. My comment also has everything to do with what each individuals idea of "soon" means. I am doing some speculating here but I suspect that PMDG intended to release in 2010 and have run into issues. We are now 16 days into January. If beta were to happen in the next week then I would say that an optimistic month for beta would be realistic. That puts us in late February If that is soon for some than so be it. Now if PMDG has really done their work and the beta lasts 1 to 2 weeks then I will gladly be proved wrong. This is not critical of PMDG. I have always been an ardent supporter and will continue to be. Better yet maybe PMDG have a secret beta and it will be released before the end of January! wink.gif

Ryan has stated numerous times that there will be no 'secret beta'. He said that everyone will know when it hits beta. Not to be a party pooper, but I just want to stop a rumor before it starts.
