Automated Tweaking and Tuning tool for FSX

Firstly, the line "Setting TextureMaxLoad to 30 for faster texture loading". No matter how many times I upload the same text file, this value keeps changing. I am keeping ALL other variables the same. Sometimes this reccommendation does not even appear.
I'm unable to replicate this problem. When set to unlimited the tool will ALWAYS set the value to 30, when running limited it will set the value according to your CPU/GPU speed.
Secondly, "Your TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT is being COMPLETELY ignored under your actual configuration". I have narrowed this down to one thing. IF I set the UpperFrameLimit=0 (unlimited) to 38 (which is what I would usually lock to within FSX, before I discovered the external FPS limiter), this red line disappears. However, if set to 0 (unlimited), I got congratulated on using unlimited FPS... But the "Your TEXTURE_BANDIWDTH_MULT is being COMPLETELY ignored..." re-appears.
Correct, TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT is ignored under 'certain' situations, for example *IF* your locked frame rate is greater that the actual TBM value.
What does this mean, and how can I do it?
Please, use the forum search function, I can't recall how many times I've explained this already.
Regarding the FPS limiter too... (The RAR file one). I usually start FSX by firing up the REX2 GUI interface, then booting FSX internally from there. I want to keep it this way. Is there any way I can use the RAR limiter to do this? Or do I have to double click the standard FSX icon?
See the recent post about the 'alternate' frame rate limiter.

Thanks very much Bojote. If the TBM is ignored, is this a bad thing? I want to use unlimited FPS but that red line puts me off.I will resarch the alternate FPS locker now.I will set the other value to 30 then, like you say. However, what is this d3d9.dll file that you have created? The new FPS limiter seems to be a little unstable according to the posts. Thanks very much,Jack

Hope I have placed this in the right place, I appologise if not.Hi wonder if you can help. I have been using the tweaking tool and now my flight sim has improved with scenery from Orbix and I can load Normal Autogen with good results, but my VFR scenery of the UK has blurring problems and stuttering issues which it did not have before. I have replaced my original CFG file but this seems to now not be working quite right as it was before the changes were made. I have had to resort to doing a restore point return on my pc to see if that helps. Still blurring issues and stuttering. The blurring may vary. With the autogen off in VFR scenery there are still slight stutters when panning around. I use the TrackTR . I have always run with vertical sync on as I don’t like the tearing and have had good results with other tweeks, Pools etc.I have tried to make a default CFG file but this made things worse. I have tried putting the changes made/recommended from your Tweeks tool to my original CFG manually but still stuttering and blurring. You recommend the controlling of frames from within FSX I am trying to get the program to run the WinRa file. Once this is applied how easy is it to remove if it does not work? Bit cautious with my Pc as I have spent a lot of time and money on various bits/scenery etc.Any suggestions – I have tried what I think are changes to the pools, texture band etc Regards Stewart

Stewart, If you already reverted to your original fsx.cfg file and/or had fsx rebuild a new one, then you need to realize the stutters you are experiencing are not tweak related. Try to remember 'what' tools/utilities you installed during the time you used the tweak tool (the tool does not change anything in your computer btw, it simply changes the file you upload and then offers you the option to download it back with the changes)Any frame rate limiters by any chance? check your main FSX root folder, is there a d3d9.dll file? there are so many things causing your problem that the LAST thing I would do is worry about the fsx.cfg file. What kind of hardware you have?

Thanks for the reply.Since my last posting I have gone back to an older cfg from a few months ago. (I keep backups of cfg’s if I make changes) and it made a big difference and brought back the sharpness with smooth performance as per usual in the V cockpit. However when I then go outside the stuttering is very bad. This is with certain aircraft and not all. Recent pay ware from Warbird sim and some of Carenado’s aircraft – the more resent ones. The VFR UK scenery with trees from Earth simulation is smooth when at 30FPS set using the sim limiter (No external program running as am concerned it may cause issues- can you switch it off/disable if it does not work?) I have varied the frames to unlimited and the stuttering gets worse when in the outside view. When I use the Orbx scenery it would stutter very badly from outside the cockpit and inside. Irrespective of the FPS set. I usually find limiting to 30 FPS works reasonably. I then took this new cfg and put it through your Tweek tool and now the outside is less stuttery and moor usable as is the inside. With Orbix the Autogen is set to Sparse as if I increase it to normal the stutters get worse. When I go back to VFR UK, the scenery seems less sharp with slight stuttering when panning around, unlike before the cfg was tweeked. The tweeking has certainly helped the outside view now but still slight stutters. Are there any slight changes I can make to the cfg now that may help? I have spent many hours/days trying different things in the past with the cfg as per various forums – however my knowledge is limited and I always have backed them up before tweeking. My system is: FSX GoldMSI X58 PRO-E Intel i7 920 Quad Core 2.66 Ghz Samsung 1TB 32 Mb CacheNVidia 285 GTX 2Gb DDR3 Corsair 12Gb Tri Channel 1600MhzWin XP Professional 64 Bit Yes I did find the d3d9.dll file. (I don’t know what it does though) Once again thanks for your time. Stewart

Yes I did find the d3d9.dll file. (I don’t know what it does though)
It can be the Frame rate limiter or ENBSeries mod... try renaming it to d3d9.dll.OLD so it gets disabled from the sim and try again.

any advice on which tweaks one should use for the (ati) now amd 6970 card ? the auto tuning doesnt seem to recognize it .

Hi *******,Allow me a question. I will have this coming week a new computer - W7 64 bit with the new i7 2600k CPU, an EVGA GTX580, etc. - dedicated mostly to FSX.Could you please advise me whether there are any tweaks I should consider in spite this is (currently!) a powerful PC? Thanks!RegardsEdmundo

Edmundo, A stock clocked i7 is no different from my old Pentium Duo ;) you NEED to get that thing @ 4.0Ghz and the hardware forum is your best place to ask. Look for Stephen guides/articles/posts

Thanks, *******. Yes, as I got the 2600X, OC is on the way - possible to close to 5.0 GHz. But my question was about all the tweaks you have suggested, such as bufferpools, HIGHMEMFIX, etc.. Is there any particular I should add into the fsx.cfg? Thanks!Edmundo

no love for the fastest ati/amd card then ?

Please, read the instructions you see on the tool. There is no 'specific' ATI tweaks, the cards you see there are for 'reference', the tool does not 'detect' what card you have.

Edmundo, thats what the tool is for. Simply upload your fsx.cfg and it will automatically apply the needed tweaks... and I mention the 'overclocking' because HARDWARE is and always WILL BE the best tweak for FSX.

The options tells you to choose either the card listed 'or' the equivalent. A GTX 280 is equivalent to a 5670.
