This is awesome ******* (donation on the way...=).The difference in dense autogen / AI environments now is phenominal...!The only thing now is I need to get the textures to sharpen faster to avoid seeing the blurries. Are there any suggestions you can make based on my cfg file?http://www.venetubo..../fsx_backup.cfgAlso apologies if I missed it, but do you have a listing of your recommended in-game graphics settings? Many thanks,Dylan

Hi Bill,In the past I would read 'any' fsx.cfg file sent. Now I check the file is strictly ANSI (meaning it contains ONLY ascii codes) so, check that there are no foreign characters on your fsx.cfg. Also, try to open the file and save it again and make sure when you do so it saves as 'ANSI' (you can check the ANSI type when you are about to save the file)Hi Hey-sus,That was my problem. I don't know which add-on wrote what to the FSX.cfg. But I started with a new FSX.cfg file and it works now.Thank you (donation sent via paypal),Bill

I know, that`s not the right Topic here, but i onlywant to let you know, that the Shader mod doesn`twork again for me.The color of water changed again like before.Where it was dark blue it is now dark green, alsothe wave animations are different.I run REX overdrive Build 2.5.2010.1027.Any ideas before i revert back to my old shaders?Thank youMichael

Any ideas before i revert back to my old shaders?Thank youMichael
HI Michael, thanks for the report. I have no idea what the problem might be. Is it possible that before reverting you take some screenshots? I would like to test myself. What slider settings are you using for Water? can you try other settings and see if it makes a difference? Thanks!

I´m still testing several locations and meanwhilei find, that it looks more and more interesting.I don`t know anything about screenshots and also don`t want to waist your time. The old eyes must first realize the new look.I use 2xlow for water and no ENB,but the look is different than before, but not so bad.Michael

It would be interesting to test the Shader Mod with the Water 2.0 High setting, the other water settings are not Shader 3.0! that is probably the reason the colors look different! just give it a try before you remove it so at least you know this was the reason (if in fact it was of course)
Maybe there really isn't anything to counteract the occasional stuttering in Windowed mode - or is there? The Fullscreen performance is so satisfying!
Hi Dave,Personally, I've never tested windowed mode because it has been my personal experience that full screen is always much smoother, the only setting I would suggest for better perf in windowed mode is to simply disable vsync, somehow it seem to affect FPS much more than full screen, no idea why this is.

Hi Dylan, you can add FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.50 under the [MAIN] section to allow more CPU time to load textures.

I max every single in-game slider, except the 'car traffic and AI' (which I don't use) the cloud distance (I limit it at 70 miles) and mesh resolution is to 10m. All the other settings are maxed and work pretty good with my setup.

Bojote, You are absolutely correct about FullScreen mode being faster and having different rules about it regarding the fps and an integer downcount of the monitor refresh.(eg 60,30,20,15) I read on one forum a possible explanation: in full screen mode, FSX uses a vsync solution akin to triple-buffering that does not lock the framerate to integer quotient values the way it will in windowed mode. The biggest pain for those of us who HAVE to run windowed - multiple monitors with independent views (not TH2Go widescreen) or possibly certain third party add-ons, moving-maps, etc - is that with Vsync=1 in order to prevent tearing, it is a big downstep from 60fps to 30fps (required when you can't run at or faster than 60 in unlimited) and the fluidity is not nearly as good for vehicles that do a lot of maneuvering - especially those with high yaw rates. I'm not saying that you must include windowed mode in your testing when you investigate tweaks, just that there is a large group of us who want to optimize windowed mode because we can't run in FullScreen. Usually your tweaks are still very helpful but we have to consider a different final environment where the optimal answer might be different. I like the idea of using very high reprate monitors (>100Hz) so as to potentially remove the requirement to set Vsync=1 but I have one system that has a projector in it for the center screen and it doesn't have a reprate > 60 Hz.Thanks for all the time you have spent on helping us out!Dave

The FFTF setting worked perfectly - thanks *******! :( This has gotten me to 30 fps with super-sharp textures (even with my test through Seattle with AI and PNW).I run 16-20% AI and traffic, clouds at high (because of REX), and 8xSQ AA though Nvidia Inspector, so I need to drop my sliders and run very dense AG and water at 2.x low (all others are maxed)...

Hello Bojote,I used your tweaking tool the other day with no problems. I got a few reccommendations so I applied them.Again, the tool ran relatively well with no problems... However, I got a few weird problems which I will explain here...Firstly, this is the result...///////////////////////////////Congratulations! you have an optimal AffinityMask value!Congratulations! Your have an optimal RejectThreshold value!Congratulations! you already have HIGHMEMFIX set!You are running with frame rates set to unlimited, great! but MAKE SURE you use the 'external' frame rate limiter set to 'exactly' 30 FPS for optimal results. You can download it hereCongratulations! You already have an optimal SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT value.Your have an optimal SmallPartRejectRadius value!Setting TextureMaxLoad to 30 for faster texture loading.Your TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT is being COMPLETELY ignored under your actual configuration, you can very well forget about it.You are using a non standard Texture Size! we'll skip this option and leave it unchanged.MAKE SURE to disable Transparency Anti-aliasing for improved smoothness with your NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 card./////////////////////////////Now I shall explain my problem...Firstly, the line "Setting TextureMaxLoad to 30 for faster texture loading". No matter how many times I upload the same text file, this value keeps changing. I am keeping ALL other variables the same. Sometimes this reccommendation does not even appear.Secondly, "Your TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT is being COMPLETELY ignored under your actual configuration". I have narrowed this down to one thing. IF I set the UpperFrameLimit=0 (unlimited) to 38 (which is what I would usually lock to within FSX, before I discovered the external FPS limiter), this red line disappears. However, if set to 0 (unlimited), I got congratulated on using unlimited FPS... But the "Your TEXTURE_BANDIWDTH_MULT is being COMPLETELY ignored..." re-appears.Finally, "MAKE SURE to disable Transparency Anti-aliasing for improved smoothness with your NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 card". What does this mean, and how can I do it?Regarding the FPS limiter too... (The RAR file one). I usually start FSX by firing up the REX2 GUI interface, then booting FSX internally from there. I want to keep it this way. Is there any way I can use the RAR limiter to do this? Or do I have to double click the standard FSX icon? Many, many thanks for your time,Regards,Jack

I've been running an auto-tweaked cfg for weeks now and am noticing a huge FPS hit when I have water in view. Water never affected my FPS before. Any ideas?I usually use FSX's internal FPS lock and I have REX2 water textures. The slider is set to Low 2.x. GTX 280 and Q9550 @ 3.6 if that matters.I am flying into Darwin right now and I don't know if I can land because the FPS is so low.Other than this water issue, the tweaks work wonderfully. I am able to fly over large cities in FTX and maintain 30 fps or more.

Do you have the Shader Mod installed? if so, what version? can you make sure you have the one linked from my signature?

The new ones work like a charm. Thanks again for all your hard work and dedication! :Peace:What gave me 8 fps last night is now giving me 35 locked.
