Have a fancy wireless mouse? Ditch it!

I guess the culprit might be the installed mouse software rather than the mouse itself.I remember having some lags, stutters and lower FPS of unknown origin.I read somewhere to uinstall the Logitech software and use my mouse based on Window's default setup. After that my problems disappeared.

Hey, WingZ: You have AT&T, don't you? Me too! --the buzzing speakers are from CDMA phones -- and that's exactly what everybody told us would happen if they were ever approved for use. I hate it when "They're" right!
Hi.Forgive me for hijacking but this is just a one-off question. I get the dick-di-dick, dick-di-dick coming through my PC speakers when my phone is closer than a couple of feet. I never paid much attention to it other than to text when I can rather than have the phone next to my brain...!What is CDMA?Regards,D

I can't believe that anyone would suggest that MS's software isn't the best in the world and that it could possibly upset FPS. Big%20Grin.gif :(( I, too, have used Logitech mice for years without any apparent drawbacks.)Colin B

Well I guess it's a combination of this particular mouse and hardware or something. I tried plugging the MS mouse into another machine this evening and experienced the fps drop. Unplugged it and fps back to normal. My MS mouse is clearly evil.

Come on people...without offense, but what is next...electric cables, that "eat" fps... :(
You came up with that ridiculous idea all by yourself.
Yeah, when I first saw the topic heading, I was immediately skeptical of the results.
Fine. Fact remains, my MS mouse costs 10 fps on both my machines.I'm merely sharing my own experience in the hope that it may help someone else too. If your mouse works fine then that's just lovely. Move on. I for one am very happy about this discovery and I've learnt a few more things thanks to the useful posts from others, thanks.

After reading this thread it hit me that my mom uses an MS wireless mouse on her laptop.I was amazed that it eats around 20% CPU time just moving the mouse cursor around! As soon as I let the mouse rest CPU usage goes back to 0% or slightly above. She's not a big flightsimmer, so I can't verify how it impacts fps, but 20% CPU usage hasto have a negative effect.
