December 1, 201015 yr First off, let me say that I'm amazed by the wonderful works going on on the NGX. This is reproduction par excellence!!! I've seen those who were in a hurry to make quick money and produced the only 787 on the market today, and that aircraft, not only is it nowhere close to the 787 real life design, it''s an insult (I stand to be corrected) to boeing in my opinion! But since after buying the 744 and then the 8i/F extension. It even has much better Framerates than the F1 Mustang. I have looked at no other aircraft in FSX. I was tempted by the Airbus X, but from the reviews I gather it's all eye candy and minimum real life (if you understand what I mean). I haven't posted all this while because I always get carried away by the screenies in the "heads up" post.Nevertheless, I have made this observation:The HUGS glass thickness does not show any form of refraction when looking through it (the HUGS), and so gives the feeling of looking through an empty frame. I was wondering if that could be fixed (I don't even know if that is possible with the FSX engine, so I'm not trying to fault PMDG here. I'd be the worst sinner to do so :D) Also, I haven't seen the real thing, but from videos and pictures, It appears to have a magenta tint (like a slight anti-reflex coating on a pair of glasses or like a dichroic filter that reflects green and has a magenta tint) I don't know how else to describe it. Take a look at the link below: Or maybe that is caused from the angle the camera is looking from (not head-on)?Wipers:I know they will be animated, but will they actually wipe the water on the windshield (is that even possible)? I'm just curious that's all. Whether or not, I'm already sold on this masterpiece. I can't wait. One more thing...I'm one of those who like to fly an aircraft that's straight from the assembly line (Cockpit still in pristine condition) is it possible to 'delete' the minor wear and tear here and there in the cockpit and offer the 'clean cockpit as an option?Keep up the good work and take all the time you need.Chidiebere Anyahara Chidiebere Anyahara
December 1, 201015 yr Commercial Member The pinkish tint has already been pointed out by one of our tech team members - we'll see what we can do on that, should be doable.Refraction is something we'd have to be able to change the graphics engine to do - not likely. The same tech team member said that it's only apparent to the side of the combiner, which isn't an angle you'd ever actually use it at.Wipers removing water from the windshield - seriously doubt it. You can't do animated textures in FSX the way you could in earlier versions, so it'd all have to be done with (a lot of) geometry - the VC already bests the poly count of any other VC in existence by a very wide margin and we're probably not going to add more to it unnecessarily.Clean cockpit - probably not, the cockpit photos that are the basis for the textures are from a specific line aircraft that was well-worn. We actually cleaned it up somewhat from how it really was, but it'd take a lot of extra time we don't have to fully "clean" all those photos by hand. December 1, 201015 yr I have a question. Was it the video and the refresh rate or was the MCP readings blinking? Is that a real 737 feature, if so, why??Taylor Oldham
December 1, 201015 yr I have a question. Was it the video and the refresh rate or was the MCP readings blinking? Is that a real 737 feature, if so, why??Taylor OldhamYeah, just a side effect of filming them. The clocks will do the same. You don't see that in real life.Cam Jones
December 1, 201015 yr The HUGS glass thickness does not show any form of refraction when looking through it (the HUGS), and so gives the feeling of looking through an empty frame. Because none exist in real life when viewed at normal angles while flying approaches, any such refraction would be highly undesirable for pilots, there are special coatings to prevent any such refraction. There was a discussion on this very topic before. Michael J.
December 1, 201015 yr Author Because none exist in real life when viewed at normal angles while flying approaches, any such refraction would be highly undesirable for pilots, there are special coatings to prevent any such refraction. There was a discussion on this very topic before. When I talk of refraction, I mean hugs combiner looking just a tad thinner than it actually is (when looked at from an angle, that is), which is common with every transparent object. But Ryan already gave a perfect response to all my questions. Thank you for clearing that, Ryan. Even if those aren't possible, PMDG still rules! All Hail!!!Edit: I just reread your post and realized you were talking of 'viewing at normal angles'. That is correct. Chidiebere Anyahara

Seriously, I would pay extra cash to have the option to not sit in all the virtual filth some of those earlier pics showed. I mean just look at how much effort was put into this baby! Erik L.
December 1, 201015 yr I mean just look at how much effort was put into this baby! Which is why I am more than willing to pay them to make another one that is nice and clean.Regardless of that, it still is going to be the best VC on the market, no doubt. And I do appreciate where PMDG is coming from with making it look like it is in line service. Just that if I were in charge, I would have gone for the fresh off the line look. December 1, 201015 yr You can actually do a pseudo effect with the wipers in FSX, but it is more a case of flipping the window grime texture alpha channel for one that shows the wiped bit whilst the wipers are going. A few aircraft for FSX have that, including JF's new DC-3, and it looks okay, but it's not really going to be wiping the rain off the windshield.I suspect a refraction effect is beyond the capabilities of what FSX can easily do though. Doubtless someone could prove me wrong if they were prepared to spend a lot of time and resources figuring out a way to get it done, i.e. you could try something like placing a new FS window with a slightly different zoom level into an semi-transparent alpha channel shape for the HUD frame for example, so that it looks slightly distorted in comparison to the plain window view when viewed from the side, but it probably wouldn't look great and seems like an awful lot of work for an effect we could easily live without.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
December 1, 201015 yr Too bad about the animation of water, I always loved that, really added to the atmosphere. The sound of the wipers, the water flying on the windshield, hearing the drops and the streaking of the wiper blades. Loved it. PRobably the best to do it was the Dreamfleet 727

December 1, 201015 yr Commercial Member We got the redish tint in on the HGS today - we'll probably post a pic of it in the main thread a bit later. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
December 2, 201015 yr We got the redish tint in on the HGS today - we'll probably post a pic of it in the main thread a bit later.Fantastic! Thank you for taking input from the community, pretty awesome. Erik L.
December 2, 201015 yr Any chance of that pseudo effect with the wipers in FSX that Chock was talking about? Sam Rgds - Sam Harridann
