Ifly vs PMDG 737

Featured Replies

Hi guysJust want to ask how does the Ifly 737 compares to PMDG old NG in FS9. I planning to buy it just want to see if it is worth it.. Or better get the new videocard and wait for the PMDG NGX.

The iFly FS9 737 NG is an improvement on the old FS9 PMDG NG in almost every respect, although to give PMDG the credit they deserve, most of that is probably because the PMDG one exists, as it was the FS add-on which showed the way forward.Even with PMDG's new FSX NG on the way, you won't be sorry if you get the iFly FS9 one, it's well worth the money and apparently their FSX version is going to be discounted to buyers who have the FS9 version, so the FSX iFly 737NG will most likely be an inexpensive addition for those who bought the FS9 version. It's probably going to be the case that iFly's FSX 737 will have a hard time matching PMDG's FSX effort as far as system fidelity goes, given the amount of time PMDG have been working on theirs, but I'm personally of the opinion that PMDG's new NG, whilst clearly a 'must have' for airliner fans, will not necessarily render other FSX 737s completely redundant, since it may well be heavier on system requirements than other ones given that level of fidelity they are quite evidently going for, and when flying with things such as REX, ASE, FSFK, Radar Contact, Vatsim, MCE Vox ATC etc, there will clearly be some merit in an add-on aircraft with a low system overhead when other stuff is eating up processing power as well.Of course until we have all these things in our hands, it's a bit of speculation as to how they all will perform, but in the meantime you certainly won't be disappointed with the iFly FS9 737, it's one of the best attempts at an airliner ever made for FS9, with a very nice VC which gets really high FPS, and it's good value too considering you get pretty much all the NG range included (apart from some ER variants). Definitely worth buying.Al

Took a plunge and bought the iFly737 (with SP):1) impressive2) easy on frames3) great VC4) exterior model is excellent5) support forum is great and developers have 'can do' attitude, quite refreshingThis is my first 737 (aside from the default MS version) so a little getting used to after all the hours on LDS767, PMDG747, or MD11. System-wise, it's well made and the developers definitly know what they're doing. Seems there are around 3.2k 'registered users' so probaly fair to say this FS9 product grossed about $176K. Don't know if this is good or bad, but probably higher than some in the business expected.All-in-all, this 737NG product is a must have.Pat

Yes it is worth buying, it is honestly one of the best addons for fs9 i have and there support is fab, like Al said the fsx version will be discounted for fs9 owners and with the fs9 version, they really have pushed fs9 to its max and done a fantastic job. If you didnt like it for any reason you can use the flight1 30 day refund policy but im sure you will love it

HelloThe best release of 2010 without any doubt and a lesson in how to manage a project of this complexity. And the best bit is they are not even finished yet, they are now working on the Hardware drivers and the Feature Pack along with the FSX version.

Hi everyone,I bought the PMDG 737 a few years ago and I'm very satisfied of the product, but I'm trying to get it real as is get. So had question about the realism of the PMDG 737 and the Ifly 737. Witch one of both aircraft has the best realism like fly characteristic and systems?Kind regards,Cedo

The IFLY's systems are AMAZING!!!!Having both PMDG and IFLY I would take the IFLY's bird any day over the PMDGGranted the PMDG Is a lot older so no disrespect to PMDG.But honestly, The Ifly is simply amazing and so realistic, In fact when they came out with it, it was my aircraft of choice and built a home cockpit pit (and still in the process) all because of this aircraft.

You can't compare PMDG 737NG for FS9 with iFly's. PMDG 737NG was way released before (back in 2003 i think). PMDG 737NG was a milestone in FS addon history back then, but the bar has been raised numerous times, especially after their 747-400 QOTS and MD-11 release, which IMO has one of the most complex system simulations out there. Thus the iFly, benefiting from the developments, is quite superior to the original PMDG 737NG in many aspects. For example, it has working IRS simulation.Clearly iFly is the best 737NG out there for FS9 and great value too. For US$55 (at Flight1) you got every 737NG out there (including 3 BBJ models) except 737-700ER and 737-900ER (which IIRC, will be added in future SP to the owners soon enough for free). Well that's fantastic, isn't it? Besides, their models and variants (MCP new/old style, eyebrows, winglets, displays) are quite abundant. This is one of the best FS9 payware products IMO. From what I heard, Arianne's 737NG says that iFly's 737NG is good as well and quite as complex, and more importantly, far less expensive. In addition, you got nice team of people answering and catering to your rants and some of your demands on their support forums.

Thanks for the information about both products.Happy new year to everyone! Kind regards,

The fact that you areneven comparing an 8 year old product to a new one is a compliment to PMDG.

You really cant though.Nothing against PMDG but there in a totally seperate class.(the 737)

Heck then this thread shouldn't even exist!

The OP asked how they compare, and they really dont, Again, PMDG Make fantastic aircraft, but the 737 is showing its age, BIG time.I cant stress enough that I have nothing against PMDG, but their 737 is ancient. But we will be able to most definetly compare the PMDG 737 and the IFLY 737 for fsx when they are both released, as they would be in the same class.

I have read (and maybe incorrectly that you have to man. enter flightplans into the fmc, that you cannot just import them like in pmdg. Is that correct? FsBuild2 has a format for Ifly747 but not 737, and if it won't read fs2004 flight plans then it can't be used with say Radar Contact. Maybe I'm miss informed and this has been corrected.
