And? Personally I enjoy giving my money to people who have worked hard on software that gives me enjoyment.
..... OK ??? What in the world does you comment have to do with the OP question/poll? The guys at open clouds have worked very hard on their freeware and I have even offered to make a donation but they just wanted to give this to the sim community.

FEX all the way - displayed best with GEX. Not only are the weather textures improved, but the changes are far more dramatic than the ones you would see with REX2. Dave.

FEX is not a weather generator, it only supplies the textures.

I have ASE and I do agree it is a wonderful weather generator but there are still issues with it in my mind. With SP2 it can now communicate properly with RC4 using DWC if you happen to use that addon but if your not running a supercomputer it will lag the report so your turning onto final past the localizer (Yes I've updated FSUIPC and added the line in the INI). Then you could go with the Standard Depiction but once again without a supercomputer it will stutter and white flashs in the sky while updating through sim connect. I went back to pre SP2 to build 614 and the issue there is the destination weather never matches what it actually is until your wheels touch the ground so usually you land with a significant tailwind (they did fix this in SP2 though with Standard Depiction). There is a workaround by turning off weather control to FSUIPC though as you turn onto final. I've used ASE for a year now, bought it when it first came out and have many hours using it findings workarounds for the various issues; overall it is a superb product but for now I've gone back unfortunately to using FSX weather since no other weather engines are out there. For FS9 I use the old reliable AS65 the best weather engine ever made if you ask me. Too bad they couldn't reproduce that for FSX but I think FSX's simconnect hurts things there. These are just my opinions and you may not have any of these issues and like I said it is a superb product if it works like you want it to.Sean Green

REX textures and the REX weather engine work perfectly together for me. I have yet to see one unrealistic looking cloud formation or weather situation (using 1024 textures). With Cumulus 3, Cirrus 21 and 'Reality' sky i found a perfect all-round setting. Try it :(

FEX with Open Clouds, very happy with it and no performace hit, and I use 4096 clouds

Of course, that is - if you add ASE with it. Personally, the default weather displays weather changes realistically - at the wrong times within each flight. Dave.

No performance loss at all and no reason to worry updating.
Hi,I updated to SP2 but now the weather depiction is totally wrong :( Lousy weather in metar and clear skies in FS :( I've asked for help in the HIFI forum.I never noticed that before...It may be my fault but I am puzzled
