December 25, 201015 yr I can relate to your addiction problems Benjamin! I suffer from them too..... :( Just think of the fun we are having.I am sure having fun! Did KIAD-KATL-KIAD-KORD-KIAD stretched out over the last three days. Used the Wilco A320 in United livery. The nicest part about the flights were that the aircraft actually flew correctly. No crazy climb rates, no faulty flight plan following. Amazingly, the Wilco A320 worked brilliantly for the first time. Now, however, I'm off to learn the Leonardo Maddog. I have had this plane for at least a year but never understood how to fly it. Gonna try and do that this week. Fly KLAS-KLAX-KLAS with a few times to practice (By the way, I really have to comment on Cloud9's KLAX: it truly looks beautiful! Glad you guys convinced me to get it)Wish me luck! December 26, 201015 yr I have the DA Fokker 70/100 and the F1 ATR on my "learn to fly list" since some time last year so do not feel bad Benjamin.Part of being a sim addict, taking on way more than we can handle.I admire your devotion and time spent sim flying. I was I could get off my arse and do it more often. I find I am getting way to anal about my flight preperation and so on. Maybe some G/A action should be in my cards?Good luck and make sure to catch a show and play some black jack while in Sin City :( Al Stiff
December 26, 201015 yr Cloud 9 KLAX still looks good in FS9 and worth the price today. It was developed by the same guys at FSDreamteam, just represents their earlier stuff...not bad stuff. I just flew through KLAX real world...Cloud 9 is still a good choice for this airport. The new FSDreamteam KLAX is going to be for FSX only...I would add my agreement - Cloud 9 KLAX is still an excellent choice despite it's age, with a level of detail and realism that is approaching some of the best FS9 payware scenery and it fits in nicely with MegaScenery Southern California if you use that. It is one of the airports I particularly enjoy visiting in FS9!Bill
December 26, 201015 yr I'm indeed going broke -.- I have never bought so much in one month as this december, mostly because I have found great interest in flying in America all of a sudden. And so I have started buying all kinds of addon scenery during all the great sales we had (and still have) this christmas. Anyway, you are right: Cloud 9's KLAX isn't bad at all. The problem for me is that it doesn't have AES support. It has spoiled me and I rarely fly to airports that don't have it... So that would be my reason to purchase FSDT's new KLAX if they make it for FS9.I wonder if you have the intentions to consider an upgrade to FSX if FSDT'S KLAX will be for FSX only? BTW, I'm broke too - spent my time so much at the JF site, for the Battle of Britain package, that I've actually forgotten to look at the remaining balance on the C-card! Dave. December 26, 201015 yr Late to the thread as usual, but just wanted to agree that Cloud 9's LAX and DCA are still excellent sceneries despite their age. Of course, if FSDT make a new version of LAX for FS9, I'll certainly upgrade! Also confirm that there just aren't enough hours in the day for all the flightsimming tasks I want to tackle, as I've got several world class airliners sitting uninstalled (Maddog 08, DA Fokker, PSS 777) as I'm trying to concentrate on the Level-D 763 and iFly NG at the moment. Maybe I'll cut back to 5 hours sleep a night....:( John G.
December 27, 201015 yr I wonder if you have the intentions to consider an upgrade to FSX if FSDT'S KLAX will be for FSX only? BTW, I'm broke too - spent my time so much at the JF site, for the Battle of Britain package, that I've actually forgotten to look at the remaining balance on the C-card! Dave.I already use FSX, so I can't really upgrade ;-) However, I only use it for flying GA around Orbx's PNW and NRM scenery. There is for me no use whatsoever in using FSX with these big hubs. In order to make it run good, I'd have to set all settings on medium, meaning I won't see half of FSDT's scenery. So where's the fun in that? At least with Orbx's PNW and NRM I can max out all FSX settings and, using the Flight1 BN2 Islander at least, still get 30FPS (I can really recommend that, OrbX PNW + F1 BN2 has become a winner combination for me. Best money I ever spent on FSX!).Anyway, if I would have only used FS9, I would have not considered upgrading to FSX just for KLAX. With so many other addons for FS9, both scenery and aircraft, there are ample other (AES supported) destinations to fly to and from. No need to go to FSX just for a newer, AES supported KLAX. Certainly with KSAN and KSFO coming soon for FS9, I cna simply fly to other west coast destinations that are as beautiful.Aaand, I did KLAS-KLAX-KLAS with the Leonardo Maddog. To be honest, I'm not sure what to think of this plane. On the one hand it's great to fly it. It's handling is very nice, and I like the type, but I dislike the systems. I'm actually surprised - I thought it would be more automated than it is! That's not a real problem for me since after these tow flights I think I have a pretty good idea of how the plane works, but I think I am much more of a Boeing person. Of all aicraft I flew in FS (Most Boeing jetliners, most Airbus jetliners, MD-11, MD-80), I like the workflow of the Boeing 767 and 777 best. They appeal to me most. I personally think the 777 is a dream to fly. With that plane, everything seems easy. Anyway, I think I'm gonna do one more flight with the MD-80, a flight I have done before: KATL-KIAD-KATL with a Delta MD-80. I'll see how that turns out. After that, I think I'll go on and study the iFly 737, though.altstiff: I should only make sure that my devotion doesn't end up in addiction ;-) To be honest, though, I rarely fly as much as I do now. At the moment, though, I have vacation and many new sceneries. I suspect that in the new year, when I'll have to start with a project about snake embryology, my flying hours will go down drastically. But, at least I'll know how to handle the MD-80!pitts: The LDS767 is an excellent choice. I can also really recommend merging the PSS777 with the POSKY 777 exterior. You'll be in for a huge treat! To tell you the truth, the PSS/POSKY 777 merge has quickly become my favorite airplane, together with the LDS767.
