April 24, 201115 yr Commercial Member Hi Harry,1/ F1 for help2/ All there is for the time being: http://www.flightsimulatornetwork.com/group/idealflightforfsx3/ All planned :-)Flight not completed: Once the flight has started avoid moving the plane so it leaves or touches the ground since this signals take off & landed. Even if you select another plane that can happen. If you want to do that then you go into FSX with the "FS Menu" 'X' button, get your plan, plane, and location sorted then choose "Restart IF Monitor" to be sure the starting point of the flight is set.If you want to go around FSX menus after the flight, maybe look at the records etc. then first pull down the menu and choose "Exit Flight: Flight Completed", or Alt Tab to IF and choose "Exit Flight" from the left arrow or popup menu.it's all about ensuring IF senses a logical starting and ending point for a flight. During the flight don't forget you can "Save Fight" and "Goto Next WP/TOD" to save time en-route.Regards;Steve Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
April 24, 201115 yr Hi, Steve: I just downloaded and installed the latest version. The program launches with no problem, but when I try to create a plan, I get a pop-up window that says. "Read beyond end of file."Any suggestions? Wilson

April 24, 201115 yr you need to re-index first - popup menu startup page - Maintain IndexIt always reindeses automatically for me when I update?
April 24, 201115 yr Commercial Member Thanks. Well I guess each to his own it would be a boring world if we all used FSX in the same way but I prefer to choose my own destination and with GA plan a flight to pass points of scenic interest which is very easy to do with G-Plan and Google maps. Then, with the heavy iron, I like to fly using the routes the airlines fly (eg North Atlantic Tracks, the southern polar route between Sydney and Buenos Aires) and a dedicated flight planner such as FSC is pretty essential for that so I don't quite see how IF adds anything. I also like to add custom waypoints to flightplans that mimic GPS approaches Further more, as noted in my previous post, some high end aircraft require you to start FSX with a "Safe Flight" but IF (as far as I can see) doesn't allow this.BruceBrucebHi Bruce,You can now make your plans in your fave tool such as PlanG and drop them on IF. You get a new plan with TOC&TOD added + briefing +inflight menu and so on. IF launches aircraft from a .FLT which saves you loading a "Safe Flight".SteveIt always reindeses automatically for me when I update? Can you rename your parked.dat, or copy profile away and try a fresh install, i think it's maybe parked.dat. The format has changed slightly.Steve Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

May 12, 201115 yr Commercial Member Ideal Flight version [ra] has been doing very well with no reports of any problems. If you close FSX in windowed mode in the sim view, then next time you run FSX it will start up with the default flight. This behaviour is not caused by IF.I’ve found a few things to smooth over, but there’s no point uploading any improvements just yet. I still have a wish list to consider, but for the time being I’ve been improving the IF web pages http://idealflight.com/.If you have IF it will be worth checking out the new blurb because there may still be things you don’t know about IF worth reading about. Anyone not up to speed on IF should take a look too, because it’s a vast product and has always needed better explanation. To everyone that sent best wishes and suggestions, it’s been great getting IF to do the stuff you wanted it to, and it’s been a real blast burning the candle at both ends to get it all done.Best regards to all;Steve Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
May 12, 201115 yr Hi Steve,Using the latest version I'm having an issue with the drag and drop of .pln files. Lately I'm flying the LVLD 767 which uses .rte flight plans. I generate these in FSBuild then drag and drop the .pln ( I export from FSBuild in .rte and .pln format) file onto IF and it creates the plan in IF but there is only the DEPT and DEST airport, nothing inbetween and the flight level is way off. How do I get IF to accept the parameters in the .pln flight plan without them being modified by the aircraft parameters. If the flight plan calls for 35,000ft, IF is 35,000 ft.? I really don't want to have to go into the aircraft parameters everytime to adjust for different flight levels. So IF has to use the aircraft parameters you set for the plane. The flight level is computed from the parameters too. If the route is short, for example, then the aircraft would not have time to reach full altitude, so IF has to use your setup. None the less the waypoints in your route should still be in there. How about sending me the .PLN? I’ll check it out. I’ve not found one that does not work properly, perhaps you have something? Thanks;Steve Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

I really don't want to have to go into the aircraft parameters everytime to adjust for different flight levels. Thanks for your time.GlenRegarding the setting of altitude:1/ You go up, you go along, you come down. At the moment IF uses 50% of the route distance for the cruise altitude. You can change that to say 25% and get a higher altitude assigned for the plan, having more of the route to ascend/descend; in profiles/setting.ini.[FlightPlans]FlatPartPercent=50Then please remember that IF makes an Ideal Flight that follows the rules:The cruise altitude 1000's will be odd/even depending on which way you travel (odd=east), and 1000/500ft depending on IFR/VFR.Thanks for the .PLN Glen, I'm just going to have a look into that now, but you are right, it seems something in there confuses the planner.Oh yes, once you have your aircraft params set up properly, you will rarely need to change them :-)Steve Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
May 13, 201115 yr Commercial Member Hi Glen,You found a good one there! Your route goes along at 90+ degree angles. None the less it should not matter. The auto planner restricts the outcome of auto generated routes to avoid sharp angles. This was the bug as it should not affect dropped plans, that situation is now corrected and plans can go all over the place. I won’t release an update for it just yet as there’s not enough done to [rb] that makes a big difference. Can you drop less crooked plans for the time being? I could send you a special if it’s a big problem. Thanks a lot;Steve Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

Bringing something new to the table; complex winds, pushed around through 360, rather than just horizontally, with any weather engine, jet streams, plans to fly them, and drop your own route? :-) Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
