Problem with engine start / Apu Bleed

Featured Replies

Henk,Packs are not required for engine start. The APU valve is not opening from the screen shot. The only way thus far that I can achieve Alberto's screen shot of the APU switch showing 'ON' and 'VALVE' is by simulating a valve failure, otherwise 'VALVE' shows only momentarily as it operates. I'm using FSX also.
Thanks for the answer. In those pictures, engines are not running. As I wrote in a previous post, in this stage, you can ask the FO (FS2Crew is running), to start the engines (4 and 3). Then the FO switches pack 2 and pack 3 to off and performs the flow to start the engines. So you're right, and in fact the packs should be at off, prior to start the engines. The FO does the job. As soon as all 4 engines run and stabilize, you can ask to switch the APU off. The the FO also switches the packs to normal again.Everything works fine.BTW, Alberto tells that he has this valve problem only as soon as he activates the FS2Crew gauge. I checked that out. I did not get any differences, i.e. pictures are identical if I don't activate FS2Crew.Henk

Alberto,Going out on a big guess here...Try re-installing FSUIPC.Also, make sure you're not running any LUA scripts. Also, I believe there are some 3rd party apps out there that are hacking into the PMDG 747 (in violation of PMDG's license terms). I won't name them, but make sure you're running absolute nothing (no LUA scripts, no nothing) that attempt to interface with the PMDG 747. Cheers,

And, if it does not solve the problem: uninstall FS2Crew for the 747, uninstall PMDG 747, check your FSX/PMDG directory and delete the 747 stuff. Then reinstall PMDG747+ update, and FS2Crew.Anyway, the two programs work fine together. So, something is wrong in your system.

Hi allI bought the FS2Crew for the 747 yesterday and found the same problem with the APU to start engines. For more than pressing the button to connect it does not open the valve and it is impossible to turn on the engines. Followed step by step checklist on the 747 and could not be started. If i unninstal the fs2crew i can start the engines without problemsI attached two screenshots. One is how is the panel with the image of the circuit is APU and the key down and the valve closed. The other is something that caught my attention .. looking at the circuit panel apu see that every second or so those numbers displayed in purple and green phrase EXT AIR but I never connected the external air or similar. That comes and goes every second or sometimes less or more time.Someone is currently the same problem?I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the PMDG 747 and FS2Crew no results.I apologize for my English.Best regardsNico Alexander

Hi Bryan,Same problem here. When I set the PMDG Pax Model Panel CFGs to FS2Crew, I'm unable to turn on the packs, even before I start FS2Crew inside the sim.I load the aircraft, select Cold and Dark panel state from the PMDG menu, turn on battery, select external power and the packs already refuse to turn on. Also doesn't help to start the APU and the APU bleed valve does not open as well, with duct pressure reading zero. By restoring the original PMDG panel everything is back to norma, onlly FS2Crew not working obviously. I've been flying the PMDG 747 with the non-voice FS2Crew for a long time without any similar problems. Any advice?

Just an update after some further research...This appear to affect only FS9.The temporary solution if it happens to you is to open the FS2Crew Main panel "after" you have started the APU and turned on the APU bleed.Best,

I have a similar problem with FS2Crew pmdg 747, FSX. It will start all engines except engine nr.4 i just get the message "recall". i can start it myself. I just had a reinstall of FSX and in the beggining it would start engine 4 with some hickup (the mini oh panel did come up twice on engine 4) But now it's the same again have to do the starting of 4 myself???
Hi,What are you doing differently between the time Engine 4 started properly and now? Please double check the manual and make sure everything is setup right. Are the pneumatics setup right? Is sufficient air getting to Engine 4 for the start? Also double check the auto-start procedures; that can mess some people up as it's a bit different from what they may be used to.
  • Commercial Member
The engine 4 was not started like the other 3, it had to pull the starter cap twice and then it would light up and start the engine. Now it's doing the same except the light don't come on and no engine start. The setup is just the same as it has allways been.
Hard to say. Have you asked PMDG?I'm not sure why only #4 won't start.
  • Commercial Member
No i haven't asked PMDG. It's not a big deal anyway, i am not that lazy so i can pull the starter cap myself. Everything else works great so a very nice addon that i enjoy to use.
Razor,I just read this:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/338825-do-i-need-fsuipc/page__pid__2010468#entry2010468Please tell me your not using a pirated copy of FS2Crew or the PMDG.

Hi,I just bought FS2Crew for the PMDG 747 voice after I had the button version and have the same problem.I have FS 9.1registered FSUIPC 3.999 10th February 2012PMDG 747-FASv6.5I hope you can find the problem. If I can assist in any way, just let me know.RegardsMarkus

Hi Bryan, fast as always :-)I tried the workaround and it works. In general there is nothing wrong with that work around, as in other versions of FS2Crew one is not in a cold and dark cockpit either. I just thought that there is a solution to the problem that I didn't find in the forum.Cheers,Markus
