Externalities and the NGX

Recommended Posts

Guest sssspecialista

Well, betting to myself I do not expect the NGX until end March, begin of April. If it's later, no problem, if it's sooner, happiness for everyone. I have a lot of things to do in my life than being here complaining about something I can't control. Moreover I am now studing por my PPL license and my time is full of stuff. I do not understand people's hurry. :(

Don't say coming 2010 if it's not coming 2011. Also don't say coming soon because we all know PMDG's definition of COMING SOON means forever. This post will be removed but I have to say PMDG treats this plane like it is for free, let me remind you WE ARE PAYING CLOSE TO HUNDRED DOLLARS AT LEAST WHEN THIS PLANE COMES OUT. I can say if this was a freeware take your good old time, but I think we the customers deserve to know what is going on, how hard cn it be to put a post on just to tell us what is happening? How hard can that be? I appretiate that they are giving this plane a lot of thought, but why ###### of the people (yes many people will agree with this post and others will try to act like PMDG as say the plane will come out when it does). Like I think they forget that WE PAY for the product (and yes I will still buy the plane when it comes out regardless of the price), but please why keep your customers in the dark???
As stated by another user, you are not a customer before you actually have bought the simulation. Secondly, you are not kept in the dark. There have been several posts with information and screenshots about this product, so I can´t see what the problem is...You are mentioning that your post will be removed. You have every right to state yout opinion but I think your post will be removed because you are not signing it with your name as per the forum rules. Just a little hint :(

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who has been working so hard on the NGX lately; keep up the good work!:Applause:Secondly, I'd like to say something to all the pricks who've been extremely immature by nagging about the tiniest things: GET A LIFE!If you can't sleep because of emergecy exit lights, then you seriously need to find somewhere for your life to go to.....Once again, PMDG, I've got faith in you that you are doing the best you can to make the best product possible in the shortest amount of time possible... LOL, comparing our airplane to a different aircraft, that isn't real. Thanks for this. We'll get right on it :(

Christian, while I do not doubt that you want to help, I wonder if you've read through this whole thread, or if you've read the other threads on the PMDG 737 NGX? I can rephrase it for you here so that you can perhaps save most of your comparison shots and flaw finding until after release. PMDG have made it clear that, by establishing a strategic partnership with Boeing, they (PMDG) have been granted access to engineer's drawings on the aircraft in question (the B737-600 through B737-900ER). As such, the 3D modelers at PMDG have exact measurements at their disposal (something most of us would kill to get our hands on). Now, accepting that performance dictates that one must curtail polygon count in an FSX model, there may be some discrepancies, but none too fundamental. As Ryan pointed out, there are some windows variations, but these seem to be on account of historical changes within the line. So, it would seem that our NGX will come from the product line as it exists in recent history.I think many of us understand you, but we also understand that PMDG, with years of expertise in the market, and with direct access to authoritative engineering drawings, are probably and truly making something that is going to be "as real as it gets" for FSX.It is understandable then, when Vin doesn't see the point of comparing another developer's product to theirs, that perhaps PMDG has the best data available. However, I do see your point to an extent. Different angles in different photographs always give a slightly skewed (and perhaps even distorted) impression of the plane. The 737 inherits the 707/727 nose and it does look odd sometimes. On some angles, it looks narrow and on some others not. We'll have to trust and believe that:Engineer's Drawings + PMDG expertise = As good as we could hope for

Vin, while you are at it correcting those deficiencies, can you please ensure that these paint chips on the pogo stick are correctly modeled?9-4-08supermanbummer.jpg

I can see that you are concerned about your position as a customer for a product that isn't available to purchase yet. I can also see that, from your perspective, your purchase of the product entitles you, like a shareholder, to some say. I appreciate that your theoretical purchasing power is not bringing you the tangible RIGHTS YOU DESERVE now. I sympathize. However, the gist of your position holds that, as a past, present, and future customer, you HAVE A SAY. And, furthermore, that say is based on your willingness to transact with PMDG in the sale of entertainment software to you.P.S. Don't get me wrong, I want it yesterday, like everybody else. However, just as "are we there yet?" never got the family car there any quicker, so goes our own rants into the abyss...On this basis, I'd like to vie for the right to not hear about the entitlements owed to you for a promissory purchase. Put differently, I'd like to propose that we, those of us who disagree with your premise, be allowed to pre-refund you, at %120 above retail, to NOT RANT AND RAVE about your entitlements. I'm willing to kick in the first $1.00, are there others?Stripped of your rights as customer, the logic in your argument becomes moot and there is one less fly in the ointment. Whaddya say? Sounds pretty win/win to me. :Big Grin:P.S. Don't get me wrong, I want it "yesterday" like everybody else. However, our rants and quibbles into the abyss bring about release day about as quick as "are we there yet dad?" did to the family car.

I really thought you were kidding, but I realise you're dead serious. I don't think you can see all that with a naked eye. Perception, and all that.....(Even a paint scheme can change the looks of windows) But you sure do give meaning to the ' freak' in your name. biggrin.gifJerry Esajas

I agree that it does kinda look like those eyebrow windows are modelled slightly closer to the windshield than what they are on the real plane. Maybe its a visual artifact or maybe its modelled slightly inaccurately.I have heard similar stories about having the blueprints available for modelling in various games, for example for the racing simulator GTR Simbin claimed that they had used GPS data when they modelled the Spa-Francorchamps track. It was obvious that the track was inaccurate, especially in the pit exit part (it was dangerous in the game, way too dangerous for the FIA to allow any race to take part there). We have to remember that humans are doing the modelling and that there will always be a chance of error. Personally I dont really care if the eyebrow windows are 10cm too close to the windshield in the NGX, but I can see that it would matter to somebody who values graphical accuracy.
