February 4, 201115 yr Hi All,I started my FSX simming with the PMDG 747, then I moved to the Captain Sim 767, but I recently bought Aerosoft's Airbus X and haven't really had a chance to fly it, but I'll have a fair bit of time to fly it this weekend to do so, but I did give it a quick whirl yesterday and it was VERY alien to the 747 and 767 I couldn't operate it, I was very confused. Are there any tutorials out there to fly this aircraft? I couldn't find any on youtube. Thanks
February 4, 201115 yr Me to. I can't seem to get the auto pilot controls. :( The Boeing A/P is easy to use.Ihope someone can fill help.Paul :( :(
February 4, 201115 yr You dont fly a Scarebus, you monitor the computers and are just along for the ride Jay
February 4, 201115 yr Author If it aint Boeing it aint going! This is true for me at least, until I can learn the Airbus controls. :(
February 4, 201115 yr Maybe my checklists will make it a bit more simple:http://www.forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?showtopic=38744&stIt's also available as a download from your Aerosoft acount page.
February 4, 201115 yr Author Thanks J van E.Would anyone know why I get CTD whenever I end flight when flying the Airbus X? Strange..
February 4, 201115 yr Due to a bug or poor programming, you will get a CTD unless you start at the airport using the FSX default Cessna 172. Just load up and start at the airport with the 172, then change to the Airbus. When you are done with the flight, it should not CTD. Thanks J van E.Would anyone know why I get CTD whenever I end flight when flying the Airbus X? Strange..
February 4, 201115 yr Author Thanks!Strange how a bug as trivial as that can get past the programmers.... :/
February 4, 201115 yr Moderator Due to a bug or poor programming, you will get a CTD unless you start at the airport using the FSX default Cessna 172.Neither of the above are valid causes. The simple fact is that the "default flight" saves up to twenty-eight additional parameters than normal saved flights. The net effect on the sim is that those otherwise missing parameters are reset whenever the default flight is loaded first......thus providing the sim with a stable baseline from which to proceed, and......which is yet another reason why no other aircraft should be designated as the "default flight." February 4, 201115 yr oh this is not good, because the default flight for me is kfhr in the trike!what can I do to fix it?just load up the default 172 and then set it as default? Ciao!
February 5, 201115 yr Author Okay, I'm starting to get the hang of this aircraft with much help from J van E's checklists (Thanks again buddy)I do have a few questions to pose:1. How do you load your flight plan into the FMC? I couldn't figure out how. I couldn't even type it in manually.2. The altitude selector on the autopilot panel doesn't let me change altitudes. How can I rotate the dial?Thank you,

How can I rotate the dial?Thank you,It's been a while since I flew the Airbus (after learning how things worked and making those checklist, I hardly flew the plane anymore :( ) but let me give it a try...1. You should simply load the plan using the FSX flight planner. As soon as you load the plan using the ingame FSX planner, the flight will be in the 'FMC' (MCDU). I seem to remember having to load the plan when the flight had loaded: loading the plan on the main menu, while setting up the flight, often resulted in no plan in the MCDU.2. Er... with the mousewheel...? If I remember well you also have to pull the knob (right click), depending on the current status of er... everything. Man, I really have to take this plane out for a ride once again. It's been too long ago. :( BTW That was one of the main reasons for making those checklists: I knew I would lose interest in the plane after some time and that it would be very hard getting into it again because it's all so different and complicated (at first): so those checklist will help myself too, I am sure! I think I will be flying again in no time thanks to er... myself. :(

Nice flight btw.Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
February 6, 201115 yr You could always fly the tutorial flight that comes with it. It seems to tell you what to push or pull to make it go. Nice flight btw.RayI made my checklist because in the tutorial some things are missing or different than what you actually see (or actually should do) and it contains way too many things you don't need at all, which makes missing steps accidently almost unavoidable (which obviously lets you crash the plane at one time or another... B) ). My checklists are based on the tutorial (I didn't make it all up myself, of course :( ) but ONLY shows you what you REALLY need to do or check: the rest has been left off. So it may not be the most realistic list, but I think it's a lot easier to grasp for Airbus X newbies. :( I guess that's why Aerosoft chose to add it to their download section.EDITBTW Thanks for bringing the subject up, Hirgab: I just finished a short flight with the Airbus X after not using it for a few months. It was great and everything went perfectly fine. Thanks to my own checklists. :( I am going to fly it more often the coming days!
February 6, 201115 yr 2. Er... with the mousewheel...?P.S. Just use the mousewheel: you can set the alt with the mousewheeel no matter if you have pulled (right click, manual mode) or pushed (left click, managed mode) the button. In order to change the speed and heading manually, you have to pull those buttons in order to change the numbers (if you are in managed mode, that is), but that's not the case with the alt. You can change the number anytime you want to and then press or pull (depending on the mode you want to fly in). When you are flying in managed mode and want to go to another alt, you have to set the alt and then push the button to activate it. And just to be complete: when you are cruising and want to fly lower before the TOD (top of descent) you will have to press EXPED in order to actually descent.
