February 15, 201115 yr Even though I've reisnatalled Windows and FSX numerous times since purchasing the J41, I still have the same issue coming up over & over again...Until very recently, my system was FSX-SP2 and Win7x64. UAC and Defender are always disabled upon Windows installation as a matter of priority. They are NEVER active.Sometimes it takes 3 or attempts to 'successfully' activate the J41 after the initial install. Even then, I may go a few weeks without flying it and, when I try to, again I get the activation error message saying it's not activated and 'it may not work correctly'. Then the ONLY way to reactive it, is by uninstalling, removing all traces of previous installation, then reinstalling. Even then, it sometimes doesn't activate.I now have another brand new Windows7 & FSX installation, only now with Acceleration, not SP2, and the JS41 will not even get as far as the activation screen without crashing FSX :( I can only assume there may be some kind of 'personality clash' :( between my hardware and the J41.If anyone has any ideas, I'm open to anything :( Thanks Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
February 15, 201115 yr Phil,Is your FSX installation the default path? If it is that may be an issue even though UAC etc is off. From what I've read Win 7 is very protective of files and folders in the "program files" or "program files(x86)" paths and that can cause issues. Mine is installed on a separate disk as E:/FSX.Is your copy a download or CD? If a download, might be worth re-downloading it in case its become corrupted somehow. I know how frustrating a problem like this can be to troubleshoot. Hope this helps you get up and running.Steve Mckenna

Also, I've probably redownloaded my exe file several times, so it's not that either. I've seen that recommended when downloading stuff like this as it can cause download corruption problems. I take it all your other stuff works as intended? Not really a lot of help, but if I think of anything more I'll let you know.CheersSteve Mckenna
February 15, 201115 yr Commercial Member If it's a separate drive, perhaps try the Flight1 Registry Repair tool. This might also help your other issue with the key commands. I can't guarantee it, but it could work. Kyle Rodgers

February 15, 201115 yr Phil, do you use any application that is supposed to boost your system by disabling certain services? If you do, then uninstall it. It would be also good idea to contact PMDG support directly via support ticket.
February 15, 201115 yr Hi Phil,Just reading your problem, not sure i can really help much. One thing i happen to have read here once, was the fact that you have to install the FSX service updates correctly. Install fsx then fly the default aircraft, then install update 1, fly again, then install update 2, fly again. Each time you fly the default aircraft it allows fsx to set up it's settings internally. Then try reinstalling you J41.Might just help.Good luckDave Phillips. Happy Flying, Dave Phillips.
February 16, 201115 yr What he said, but with a reboot between each install. i.e. Install, fly, reboot, install, fly, reboot etc. Paul Smith.
February 16, 201115 yr Commercial Member Technically, you are "flying" when you load the sim, without even clicking the button to move from the initial screen into the sim. This is why there are problems with loading a complex add-on without first leaving the home screen in a default aircraft. I'd argue that flying is insignificant, as long as the sim is running, but I don't program things, so I'm not one who would be able to say that with any backing. The reboot is the classic must with Windows, however. Kyle Rodgers
February 16, 201115 yr Have you created a support ticket with PMDG? I had the exact same thing happen to me. However, even though I received the activation error, the AC operated properly. PMDG sent me a file to fix the bug, and I haven't had problems since. Give it a try. Branton Turner
February 16, 201115 yr Commercial Member What he said, but with a reboot between each install. i.e. Install, fly, reboot, install, fly, reboot etc. There's no need to reboot - FS doesn't install any system devices/drivers etc. All you have to do is run the sim at least once when you install the original RTM version, then again after SP1, then again after SP2/Acceleration - the sole reason is that the cfg files, shader cache etc don't get created until you actually run the sim and there can be problems if you install the SPs or Acceleration without those files already present.Phil, send a support ticket - I can look at your system remotely if you want and see if there's anything that jumps out at me as being a potential cause. I've tried 3 times to raise a ticket. Have any got through? I fill in all data fields required, but but then just get 'Page Loading' until eventually I get a server time-out.Any ideas?
