February 15, 201115 yr Hi GuysIf anyone can recommend a good email client I'd be grateful. Troble is, it MUST be able to work with POP3, IMAP and Hotamil.I'm currently using MS Live Mail for Win7x64. It does all those things but is INCREDIBLY SLOW! It drives me to distraction. Can only assume it's 'bloated' to be so poor.I've tried a few but they seem to do only one or two email types, not all three. Thanks Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
February 15, 201115 yr Love my Live Mail better than Outlook, or Outlook Express.Could it be just the time it takes to check 3 e-mail servers and download messages from all 3?Mine starts fast, connects to my POP3 and Gmail accounts fast, downloads fast, opens messages fast, and send messages fast.
February 16, 201115 yr +1I really like Windows Live Mail now as well. Works fast. Syncs really well. Backs up email locally and keeps them on the Hotmail server. No complaints here Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

No complaints hereI use to like mine too, and on my 3 laptops it works great. I recently downloaded and installed the latest version to my PC. This is quite different. MS have made it impossible to revert back to the older version (unless you know of an MS archive anywhere?) Boy, was that a mistake. It took over everything (or Windows Live did). Anyway, I removed it real quick and continued using my Outlook 2010. It comes with Office 2010, and I don't think you can get unbundled. I have experimented with the Mozzila email client and thought it was pretty good as a client. I do believe it handles all that you need it to do. My one complaint with it was that it would not remove the email from your email server. It would leave them there. That may have changed since I used it... That was getting a lot of complaiints, so they could have changed it.
February 17, 201115 yr Author Hi TomI have Outlook installed but have never managed to get it access my MSN (Old hotmail) account.Do you use it with Hotmail?ThanksPS Got your last mail. February 19, 201115 yr Hi TomI have Outlook installed but have never managed to get it access my MSN (Old hotmail) account.Do you use it with Hotmail?ThanksPS Got your last mail. Thanks, good to know.Phil,Which version of Outlook do you have? There is no "out of the box" functionality to use Hotmail and Outlook together - you'd need the Outlook connector - http://office.micros...A010222518.aspx to get it up and running. There's also a link on that page to "upgrade" your Hotmail to work with outlook properly (it doesn't cost anything to upgrade though). Also, I think the connector will run on x32 versions of Office, not 64bit versions (x64 OS'es are fine though). I had no idea about that. My Office version is 2007 Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
February 19, 201115 yr Author Many thanks Leo.Have FINALLY got Outlook setup for all my 8 email accounts! What a bloomin performance though.... Microsoft don't make it easy do they?Probably the most expensive email client in the world, but still the most complicated to setup correctly. I guess probably because it's an application that has been allowed to expand over the years, constantly having bits added, but never being rewritten? Thanks though Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
February 19, 201115 yr Sorry about your experience with Live Mail. As I understand it, one of the differences between pop and imap is that one (I don't remember which off hand)will save on the sever and one will not. You can set up accounts either way. In fact, to get work email to function on my Droid, I had to use the work incoming settings, but my personal email outgoing settings. I was able to download just the Live Mail software to my old xp laptop and had no problems.Bob Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.

If MS made it easy, therre would be little need for threads like these :)In fairness, 2010 is a breeze to set up - its preconfigured with a lot of common mail providers, and IMO is a much more polished interface to 2007. Think Vista - Win7 :) Louise London, UK
