Hi guys, I am new to AVSIM, so I am sorry if this question might have been asked before, but PLEASE help me!!My current CPU specs are:Core i7 870 (@2.93 ghz)6 GB RAMGTS 250 1GB vga500 GB HDDAntec Kuhler Shelf620W seasonic power supplyWindows 7 64 bitWith this configuration I only get a maximum of about 10FPS. And the main problem I seem to be having is that the FPS drop to nearly 3 or 4 when turning the aircraft. This is so frustrating because i used to have around 25 fps on my old laptop computer which was a core2duo 2.2 ghz!!! And i cant seem to open nhancer for some reason !Please help me out on this! Thanks before hand for all the help

If you are not already on the 266.xx drivers, download them from nvidia.comand install.Download nvidia inspector and use it to set your settings. There is a guide on Avsim on where to get and how to set up nvidia inspector.http://forum.avsim.net/topic/324786-nvidia-configuration-guide-inspector-2xxxx-drivers-version-20-explanations-of-all-settings/Lastly, set up your machine based on NickN's advice, search on Avsim forums.

Did you build this system? If so, make sure you installed all the MB and chipset drivers. Did you install SP1 and SP2/Acceleration? I had this problem too until I installed Acceleration and activated FSX/Acceleration. As I recall I also reinstalled the chipset/motherboard drivers as I built my system and wanted to make sure they were installed correctly. Now everything is smooth and FPS are outstanding!Best regards,Jim

Max temperature for the GTS250 is 105c, so yes, 60c is incredibly safe and normal

You could also try tweaking your FSX.cfg file using Bjote's website. It is automatic and free.http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.htmlCheers,Noel.

You could also try to overclock that CPU...How is FSX installed on that 500 Gb HDD?

I have a similar setup but with an i7 960 and a GTX 460.NO tweaks at all, no overclocking, no nhancer etc... just plain FSX + Acceleration and I never see anything less than 40fps.Just for comparison with my old PC I reduced e.g. all graphic settings to the minimum (no traffic, no clouds etc) and got between 400-500fps with the standard 172.Try setting everything to minimum fot troubleshooting

You GTX250 card is throtling that cpu it needs at at least a GTX460 (560/570 better) to operate at best.IMHO when you turn the 250 is struggling to display the textures fast enough!Do you have hyperthreading turned on in the BIOS - may be worth turning off.RegardsPeterH

You know... I look at all these help threads and think to myself:"What the deuce Microsoft?"Maybe for once they could design a game that doesn't require end user tweaks... :Rolling Eyes:I have many games that I simply install then run, and they work.Sorry OP but a lot of the links posted are pretty much required to get damn FSX running well...

This is true, especially when using any 3rd party add-ons to FSX, like GEX, REX, FTX, etc. The aforementioned Nick N guide is the quintessential FSX tuning/setup guide, just plan to set aside a day (week?) to get it done. Considering it takes powerhouse systems to make FSX run smooth & pretty, what the hell were people doing in 2006? It must have looked like arse.

Ryan,FSX out of the box runs very well on the hardware of today's computers. It's not Microsoft's fault we want to add everything under the sun and then p and m about the performance of FSX.

Exactly, even with my old 8800GTS and an E6860 I got at the same settings between 300-400fps. With everything maxed out I could easily get down to single digit fps
