March 1, 201115 yr Yes, there are numerous programs available or you can just use standard voice recognition to activate the necessary key commandsThanks. Since there are numerous, can you point out the one you think the best? March 1, 201115 yr Hi.There's a list of features for each in their manuals:p 13 of http://www.jdtllc.com/v4/rcv43.pdfpp 8 - 13 of http://www.aerosoft2.de/downloads/pfe/manual.pdfI will say that I use RC4 and love it. The quality (sounds, ease of use, documentation, features & flexibility) leaves me with no inclination to explore any alternative. However the following points may be worth considering.i. You can't use RC for VFR: no flight-following. I've never tried using it for very short IFR flights as any first waypoint within 40 nm of your POD qualifies as a DP.ii. Version 4.3 (current) will not give any taxi instructions beyond a general make-your-own-way-to-the-runway. I believe RC5 will address that though the developer says I shouldn't hold my breath for its release.iii.There are regional accents in RC but they are not selected by region so you can have a South African controller directing you in Alaska... You can choose which voices to use for which type of controller but not where geographically to use them. That's about all I can find to criticise in RC. Not much really. I don't often use ATC for VFR flights as I simply don't like MS ATC any more. I never, ever use it for IFR as I hate the way you're directed well off your plan about 100 miles before your destination. IFR in the UK and Europe (big small-scale Air Hauler fan) simply doesn't fit into such a big scale. It does work well with Air Hauler. When under IFR to uncontrolled airports I usually cancel IFR in the air with RC and switch to monitoring local traffic via MS just to be sure I can avoid any nasties.Regards,D
March 2, 201115 yr Thanks. March 2, 201115 yr Thanks but reading through the readme.txt, isn't this program only for the checklist? I can't find anything about FS9 ATC Hoang Le i7 13700k - Sapphire Nitro+ AMD RX 7900 XT - Asus TUF Z790 PLUS D4 - Gskill Trident 32GB DDR4-3600 LG 34GP63A-B Ultrawide - ASUS VG259QM MSFS2020
March 2, 201115 yr Thanks but reading through the readme.txt, isn't this program only for the checklist? I can't find anything about FS9 ATCYou can program them to recognize any command you wish and convert it to a key press. What I do is have a button on my joystick that simulates the "press to talk" switch. That brings up the ATC menu. I can then either say the number that corresponds to the menu command or have the program recognize several alternative words so you can either say "one" or "say again" or "roger" etc. It's not perfect but I'm waiting for the new Radar Contact to come out and it does the job until then. What is does achieve is gets the keyboard out of the way and make FS9 more realistic. I usually only use the keyboard before and after a flight or to pause it. (I also use a HOTAS system and several GoFlight modules so I have plenty of switches to flip!) :(

March 2, 201115 yr Correct, although certain commands are almost always on the same number (ATIS, etc.) and those could be programmed so that when you said "ATIS" it would press the number 1 key, etc. Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
September 9, 201114 yr Author Anyone ever found a review comparing the features of PFE and RC4. I am fed up with FS9 ATC and need to replace it - I've been waiting for RC5, but could be years yet! :-) I already have OnCourse Software's FDC - not sure if that should make any difference to my decision? If there's no reviews (I do have the manuals for both programmes) anyone found any major disappointments with either? I know FC4 doesn't work for VFR but 99% of my flights are IFR jets, so that doesn't matter I suppose, especially if RC5 is, er, around the corner! How to RC4 and PFE compare when you are taxiing? Is one markedly better than the other? Finally, do both programmes integrate with Aerosoft's AES OK (haven't really read the pdfs in detail yet, sorry if I am asking questions here which are answered there)? Thanks, Martin (BTW, would be getting one of these programmes for the ATC, not for flight planning - I use FSNavigator (FS9) and am more than happy with that for my flight planning). September 10, 201114 yr I think you will find arguments for both products and avid fans for one or the other. From what I've read, each has it's advantages and disadvantages so I'm still waiting for RC5 in the hope that will address all the issues that have been raised about both of them. Yes, I know - could be a very long wait!
September 10, 201114 yr Author Thanks. May end up with PFE: been waiting SO long for RC5 the anticipation is dying off, sadly! M. :-) Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)

September 10, 201114 yr I don't use either stock ATC (maybe tune to a centre for a bit of company on long flights ,maybe check atis ,poss flt following) but don't use ATC at all and that includes PFE OR RC .Just use FSNav create flightplan use its M1 M2 functions to fly and land.Landing is still the critical phase of a flight for me in FS9 if I get this right whether ILS ,visual ,good or bad weather then I am happy. All ATC procedures can be learnt if needs be in the future at the moment flight and landings are what I concentrate on.PS I do try to observe decent protocol at airports ie I don't push in front of taxxing aircraft ,I wait till any aircraft have finished app and landing etc .AnywaysthoughtsAndy PS you can still avail yourself of the progressive taxi service on landing whether you use ATC or not ,so that's useful to.I know some of you wince at the very thought of using of prog tax ,but as I said before If I execute a decent landing then I am quite happy for progtax to ease my way to engine shutdown followed by brain shut-off and sleepy time zzzzzs
