November 24, 200322 yr HI Paul,Interesting point. It wouldn't matter which sim we did our development for though, we just want the best quality we can produce.Kind Regards,Rob Young Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
November 24, 200322 yr Yes, indeed. The Fly! series was special, more so because of the people there. Hm, looks like I'll have to take a closer look at the SF260. Not exactly my type of aircraft, but coming from Rob & co. it can't be anything but great. :)After recent events with some payware stuff I need something to restore my faith which is all but gone. November 24, 200322 yr Have spent a few more hours flying the new SF260 from my homebase at Biggin around the South-Coast and onwards to Exeter.Thoughts are:1) New engine sounds are very subtly different but there is definitely more of a bass roar on application of full-power (I run my FS through my studio mixer and amp) - fabulous!2) Slightly disappointed that the throttle/mixture/prop controls don't work in VC mode (using the mouse)4) Don't really like the dirty canopy effect - in real-life I tend to clean it before I fly as I hate dirty windscreens whether in car, aircraft or PC monitor...QUESTION: Has anyone succesfully installed the "clean" canopy textures? I attempted to change mine as per instructions (ie ADD/REMOVE PROGS, MODIFY etc) but it didn't make any difference. Cannot find the clean VC canopy bitmaps - mine are all the "dirty" canopy version in my SF260 folder.4) Definitely the best 2D/VC panels re framerates (as Anthony mentioned). Makes such a nice change from some other payware developers who obviously use 4Ghz 8GB RAM machines and don't consider that most people will not be using top-end PCs (and don't beta-test their products properly before selling them....mentioning no names:-)RegardsAdam Moore
November 24, 200322 yr HI Adam,I've replied to your issues via e-mail already. The alternative canopy textures in the canopy folder ARE clean. The dirty ones are already installed by default in the texture folders for each livery. The control panel texture method is fine - you have to follow instructions to the letter. When you do the change, you will see instructions that tell you about the red crosses. You must have a cross against the option you DON'T want and the ABSENCE of a cross for the option you do want.Even if you cannot get that working you can still manually change the canopy and there is a crystal clear set of instructions in the spare canopy texture folder! The functions in the VC panel reach the limit of what is currently possible in FS2004. As we explain in the documents (did you read them?) until the FS2004 SDK is released by Microsoft no FS aircaft is able to mouse click the throttle, mixture or prop controls, so we are no different from any other available FS2004 aircraft. But thanks for the positive comments you make elsewhere.Regards,Rob Young - RealAir Simulations Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
November 24, 200322 yr RobAs discussed via email I will try again tonight. Obviously its not anything like a major problem - just personal preference. I did follow the instructions to the letter but maybe the fact that it was a Sunday and I had little sleep that I may have missed something..I didn't realise it was a Microsoft SDK issue with regards to the throtle/mixture/prop movement in VC mode. Thanks for clearing that up.And just to reiterate what Rob has said to me - PLEASE READ THE MANUAL FULLY BEFORE INSTALLING THIS AIRCRAFT. I thought I knew the aircraft "inside out" so may have missed some important points regarding the new FS2004 version of their fantastic SF260.Adam Moore(stands in corner with dunces hat on..)
November 24, 200322 yr Thank you Rob Young.Thank you RAS.Thank you for, IMHO, the best GA aircraft there is.Oh yeah, the view from the VC is absolutely awesome.I've been thanking you since the FLY days, and I hope it continues.Regards,Bill Polak
November 24, 200322 yr "(stands in corner with dunces hat on..)"He he, no need Adam, I know your heart's in the right place. All the Best,Rob Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
November 24, 200322 yr I second Bill's thanks.I quoted my experience in a topic titled "Oh my God...they actually did it!!!".As I stated in that post, this addon has a very special quality that can only be experienced. I love "pretty" addons as much as anyone, but the dynamics in the SF.260 are extraordinary. Combine that with one of the "prettiest" packages (external mode, 2D, VC, etc.) and you've got the best GA addon produced for FS9, IMO.I'd be curious to know what the X-Plane fans think about the FM for this plane in FS9. This is the first FS9 addon I have that actually feels better to me than the GA's in X-Plane, and that is not the norm for me.All the best RealAir...and PLEASE...keep em' coming!Jim
November 24, 200322 yr Adam, I copied the bmp from the clean canopy folder to one of the aircraft, and bingo, the windows were clean.. this was a happy surprise, because I had looked at the bitmaps ahead of time and failed to see the difference.. but it does work! Bert
November 24, 200322 yr Thanks for the generous comments. We really appreciate them. Of course we work very hard to squeeze every drop of quality we can from FS2004, but we never really know if it's what the users will like until we release the aircraft.Jim, thanks for the enthusiasm. I hope you find the Decathlon as good, if not better, than the SF260.Kind Regards,Rob and Sean - RealAir Simulations Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
November 24, 200322 yr Hi Paul,Yes, that would have been interesting at least. The group of people working on Fly! and Fly! II definitely was a nice group of people. Do you have time left to develop any kind of add-on. I am suffering from a severe lack of time lately.Best regards,Henri
November 25, 200322 yr Hi,I'v got to tell ya all, I just deeply love the two GAs from you RealAir!!! They are not too complicated to handly and fly for someone who flies for years now with FS2000 to FS2k4, but they seem even to be better than the GAs from FSD! And I have them ALL!I just wanna tell you that you developed the best!!! Regards, Torben Hadler
November 25, 200322 yr So Rob,Are you guys busy working on the Payware 172? :) Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

November 25, 200322 yr Thanks Real Air! The SF.260 is literally, "The Best!" If you have not done it, purchase this plane right now. You will not be disappointed!(That dynamic shine really does shine!)Rob - have you guys ever considered doing the Falco?
