I am Completely Indifferent Either Way About MS Flight

I think he means that Microsoft will be taking a percentage of all Flight addons sold. A bit like the console market, where they get a slice of the pie for each Xbox 360 game sold. If that turns out to be true, then be prepared for addon prices to rise.
Chris, in most cases developers are already paying some percentage of the sales price to whomever is handling their product's sales. It's just that using the MS Store would substitute one company's fee/percentage for another! As it happens, it would actually cost more for the majority of small development houses to self-publish than it would be for them to pay a fixed percentage for ultimately better services. The potentially larger market exposure from participation in the MS Flight Live Store will more than likely offset any increase in costs for any given developer. Let's face it, the current market for any developer is a very miniscule percentage of those who've purchased any version of Flight Simulator. If people don't know you exist at all, they're sure not going to be buying any of your products! Having a single "button to push" on the top toolbar of MS Flight should offer a hugely expanded potential for sales...

Yet again Bill, you make sense of it all. That is the strongest and most logical argument for a single marketplace. A one stop shop which the great unwashed have access to, has to be good news for all devs. Its funny how people can whip themselves into a froth over no real knowledge(including me sometimes). I have a feeling that when the first real demos of flight start to be shown and the online sim media get their hands on it, that we are going to see more comments in this forum like:'Well, this really was worth the wait. I am happy to tell you all, that for the most part, all our fears were for nothing. Flight is really awesome. The graphics out of the box are amazing, and the world does not look like a wasteland outside of Hawaii. The weather engine has been completely overhauled and best of all, it will run smooth as silk out of the box - as tested with all sliders at 80%. Best of all Microsoft have left the architecture completely open for developers to change core aspects of the sim. Just%20Kidding.gifNot a totally unrealistic scenario.:( Erich

If it rocks, I'll go hybrid. If it goes ALL WRONG, 'll stick with FSX.Dave.
