Just two question about the NGX, will it be possible to download winds aloft speeds and directions into the FMC using programs like Active Sky?Secondly, will we be able to view D-ATIS messages? Thanks,

Just thought I'd give this a bump in hope of a reply! :(

I highly doubt this will be possible.

Why not? Surely a program like Active Sky could produce a text file that would have every waypoint in your route with the corresponding wind speed and bearing. This textfile could then be read by the FMC. To me this doesn't seem much different to how the fmc would be able to load a route that is pre-saved. I only have a very limited knowledge of programming and certainly no knowledge of programming with fsx, so I apologise if this is too simple and cannot be done this way.

Sorry... I should've vritten "I highly doubt this will be implemented/programmed". Of course it's possible. But I really doubt PMDG did it. But I may be mistaken. rolleyes.gif

Even if they don't, it's easy enough to visit http://www.aviationweather.gov/products/nws/winds/ and input winds aloft yourself. All you really need are three altitudes (I choose 340, 240, and 180) and input the winds into the first major VOR waypoint on your descent, then copy to waypoints up to 12 miles from the airport. That's why I do anyway.

It does: current_wx_snapshot.txt - found in Users\[owner]\AppData\Roaming\HiFi\ASE\WeatherOf course, it's probably no small thing to import that into the fmc. It works in FSBuild, though.Jeff Hunter

This is something we do want to do - likely will not make the initial release, but it's definitely on the list for the service packs.

Wow, snappy response, Ryan! I think I might try and master some of the more mundane things - like flying - before I worry about where and how I get my winds-aloft data.Love your work.Jeff

Ryan, could you give us the full list of features (as of yet) that you have planned for the service packs? I recall some getting mentioned here and there but I forgot what they were.

Might help to wait and see what's actually in the plane initially...then we will know.
