July 7, 201114 yr Commercial Member Quite honestly, ANY reason that you might have for me to have defused it doesn't, in any way, give him the right to be so... uncivil and impolite. In essence, you are blaming me for his ranting. Hardly fair or realistic.I admit that I didn't know what he was talking about but I did ask and politely too. But rather than stop, show me EXACTLY what he was on about, he attacked me personally. Calling me an idiot and a liar... I didn't lie. I didn't know. I thought I knew. That is NOT lying. At least, not in my book. I'm also no idiot and that, I am pretty sure, has been proven by the two products that I have released. Both are high quality, well reviewed and fun to fly. I might have gotten lucky once... but twice? I hardly think so. Blaming me for this is, again, rude. I will not accept any responsibility for someone else going off like some indiscriminate bomb. July 7, 201114 yr OKAY!Let's set the record straight...1. I was agreeing that the GNS430 normally looks like the ones you linked to. I never said that the one in the T-38A was correct.2. I programmed the GNS530, GNS430 and the KAP140 myself. I have allowed MilViz to use them in the T-38A as Colin stated as a "free crutch" for those who (like myself) occasionally like to be able to "see" where they're going, and perhaps even use the AP for those times I have to take a potty break. As it happens, I also coded the entire T-38A's 3d instruments and systems, and rigged all of the model's animations and lighting.3. Looking just a moment ago in the GNS430's script, I found that I had not modified the display condition to work with the T-38A's avionics bus. That is now fixed, and I thank you for pointing that omission out so I could fix it. As it happens, there are no bitmaps at all. It is pure vector drawing code.4. I trust it now has the official "bliksimpie Seal of Approval."5. What Colin meant is that these are based on the default Garmin 500 XML script, not that it was the default FSX anything.6. I think you owe everyone here at AVSIM an apology for your completely over the top and incredibly rude behavior. Thank you kindly sir, 1) at least now we know the truth - that there were indeed a little vector drawing code error (and yes vector drawing look much better then the old bitmaps I referred to.- that there has never been such a gauge in default FSX.2) The rest of the gauges, as I have already said, absolutely look stunning. GOOD job..! it is an example of what proper gauges can look like.3) What Colin might have meant and what he wrote is two completely different things. We are not mind readers. I qoute for you "We did not code the Garmin stuff. That comes straight from FSX. If it looks like that, it's because it looks like that in FSX."4) Yes sir I do give it now the "bliksimpie Seal of Approval." and that is an honour as everything I have ever known about the GPS430/530 I have learned from you - direct/indirect via posts/general documentation and have always give you credit in such upgraded freeware GNS430's and GNS530's that I have uploaded for the flightsim community to use, because without your help I would never have been able to share such gauges. Apology as per instruction of MOD.I humbly apologize for my rude behavior and for creating a bit of tension for the fellow forum users. :( So please forgive me for pointing out a problem in a way that resulted in a lot of confusion, that could have have been negated have Colin had the decency to just say, "yes there is a problem, we will look into it" but most of all at least had the decency to give credit where it is due for Mr Bill (who we all highly respect) instead of making it out to be just some old default GNS. Last but not least the issue that was pointed out was in no way a method to degrade a absolute awesome development. It was merely an attempt to notify you to correct the little issue to make it 110% perfect. For accusers of me trying to degrade your product:For those that think and made the accusations that I am from another developer trying to bring disprepute to your product.. Sorry to bust your bubble.. I have never ever developed anything payware related and received money for that and is not affiliated with any payware developer. The opposite however is very much in truth and that is that I have spend 100's of hours on freeware and specific the GNS430 and have shared this freeware freely. You dont have to go any further then AVSIM to find that for yourself. Most probably you even have this upgraded freeware loaded on your computer when you fly, so make sure of your accusations. So how about Mr MILVIZ now come and do the same after he bended the truth a little, trying to reason away a very small immaterial glitch..My posts might have been a bit "direct", so again SORRY, but at least I am not the one with egg on my face. :(
July 7, 201114 yr Can we please please end this??? Nobody lied and I believe Milviz explained the confusion and entepretation on their part. I am interested in the thread but not the BS. Where is the Admin?Bob Officially retired

I am out of here..At least anybody with a bit of commonsense can make their own assumptions now that Mr Bill has cleared up the issue for us.. No reason to get admin involved if the things did not turn out the be what you hoped for. :(
July 7, 201114 yr Just been up for my first flight, what a brilliant plane - first impressions are that it is more of a challenge (for me) to fly than the Lotus L39 - I nearly crashed the T-38A on my first approach, it really doesn't like low speeds, and requires quite a lot of power with the flaps and gear down to maintain airspeed. Lots of trim adjustments required at speed, will take a lot of concentration and practice to learn to fly well! Very smooth gauges and kind on the FPS (probably similar to the L39). Who really cares about a tiny mistake on an insignificant gps background colour (which is already fixed) for an instrument that isn't even on the real plane. I can think of far worse problems with other addons I have bought that haven't been fixed in years. Give it a rest.It is sad that a thread about a great addon is being overshadowed by something so pathetic.Support and encourage the Devs, we need more aircraft this enjoyable to fly for FSX.
July 7, 201114 yr I am so happy that you will be able to sleep tonight. I know that this has been such a traumatic experience My heart goes out to you for the pain you have suffered. The GPS430 will never ever be the same for me. I will never be able to use it the way I used to. Sorry folks I know I was the one who wanted this all to stop but this guy really needs a vacation.Bob Never said you were an idiot. yes I unfortunately did call you a liar, because like you in my book that is lying when you openly and publically state that your company did not code it (even if you did not know everything) it does not make it better. So sorry for calling you a liar (for what I substantiate to be a lie in my book) Unfortunately we all have different values it seems.. July 7, 201114 yr Moderator ...it really doesn't like low speeds, and requires quite a lot of power with the flaps and gear down to maintain airspeed....and now you know why the "speed bug" is pre-set to 190 kias, that being close to the ideal Vfe speed @ ~90% N1. Very small changes to power, not pitch are the best technique. Keep the AoA within the range 0.55 and 0.60 units, and green doughnut to grease your landings. Fr. July 7, 201114 yr Commercial Member I've been able to land it ONCE. all other times... either pancake, go around (run out of fuel and then pancake...) twice i landed on a road... that was fun... July 7, 201114 yr So, is this plane really good ? Any info/pics/vids appreciated.thxVic It's probably one of the best FSX addons . The flight model is really good. Here is a quick and dirty demo of a closed pattern in burner.I added music but Youtube deleted it so I put some stuff they had available, turn it down if it bothers you.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNrfm6g-s7kRegards
July 7, 201114 yr Author Nice one. And a very nice setup there too.I don't miss music in YT videos, so they actually did good. :(
July 7, 201114 yr Moderator Good heavens! What a fabulous set up you have there! The only "music" I want to hear in aircraft videos is the sound of the aircraft!FWIW, there was no music at all. It was quite silent. Not even any wind noise...Nice job airbraking, but then you were quite "hot" on final so you really needed to slow down, fast! :( Fr. July 8, 201114 yr How do you fly this T-38A jet in the pattern? One word -- FAST!In fact, if you are anywhere close to max gross weight for takeoff, you fly it at about 90%-95% RPM and maintain at least 200 KIAS! That's right, at LEAST 200 KIAS! If you turn and apply load, you make sure you are faster than even that! If in the pattern you ever see the red arrow on the AoA index, and you are not in the flare or at least transition to flare crossing threshold, you apply full afterburner and initiate a go around! That information comes from many real world T-38 pilots that I work with, including two who provided their seals of approval and worked a very long time to refine the FDE.If you get to the point where you see nothing but the green circle on the AoA index, then consider that a minimum speed and avoid any significant turns. If you see the red arrow on the AoA indexer, and you are turning, you are asking for a deadly outcome in the real world. When the jet stalls, it does not nose over like most aircraft. It simply rattles and grumbles to a horrible degree (shakes) and the VVI goes to a descent rate of between 2,000 FPM and 2,500 FPM. If you work the math, it tells you that if you are on the base turn or after, you have about 15 to 30 seconds left to live! That is why you level and cob full burner power if you see that red arrow on the indexer prior to your flare over the runway. The real world price for not doing this is just too severe to avoid it!Take a gander in the POH and find the section devoted to the USAF Test Pilot School study to determine best method to land the T-38A. If you read that and practice it, you will achieve consistent landing results. When you do, I guarantee you that from that point forward, flying any high performance jet in FSX will seem a whole lot easier. And when you consider the truth of that, it is the ultimate validation of the role of an advanced training jet in a study program designed to produce USAF pilots.Cheers,Ken
