Finally I decided my big update

Featured Replies

Hi all! Would not want to be without, this amazing 737NGX from PMDG, sotherefore I decided yesterday, to finally buy a new PC + FSX Gold version. However, it will take some weeks before I get my hands on the PC(Grapich Card, not in stock and also they have 10 days building time) What I understand, FSX Gold is equipped with all required SP1 and SP2or am I wrong here? This should then be my new specs: -Corsair Graphite 600T Midi Tower-PSU Corsair TX V2 850W-Motherboard, MSI P67A-GD80 B3, Socket-1155-CPU, Intel® Core# i7-2600K Processor 3,4Ghz-CPU cooler, Antec Kuhler H2O 920-RAM, Corsair Vengeance# DDR3 1600MHz 16GB-Grapich card, EVGA GeForce GTX 580 1536MB PhysX CUDA-HD, Western Digital Caviar® Black 1TB 7200RPM-HD, Corsair SSD Force Series# 3, 120GB SATA 6 Gb/s 550/510MB7s read/write.-OS Win7 pro Ultimate 64-bit. Before I used an AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual 4400+and only using FS9 in XP-64 using the 4GB patch. Fs9 will still be a platform for me, since I´ve invested soheavily in it. Also like the iFly for Fs9 which I´ve flown since last oct now. Since earlier I have PMDGs 747, 747Cargo, and their MD11, all for Fs9.But after seen those AOA video (Own the AOA training, for 747 and MD11 since release day)I couldn´t resist FSX no more. (I Have to blame PMDG, making such an incredible ac LOL.gif Puuh, wery expensive, having to change computer and platform, but what shall one do, when PMDGalways makes the best of the best. Hug.gif When I have everything installed again and done some testrun, I will overclock theCPU to 4,2 Ghz, having CPU < 1,4V. I hope this isn´t a bad idea or? Worried.gifHope to be back in the forum again this autumn. After all....there´s so much one can do during summer, than flying. / Leffe

4.2 is achievable without even trying, I think you should aim higher for 4.6 or 4.8. Anyway, what is the CAS for the ram ? You should aim for 7 !!! Also, unless you are running other programs and require 16 GB of ram, I can't see a reason to get more than 8 GB. Mark.

It's basically what I'm running at the moment. You will get 40 FPS in the Queen sitting at JFK all maxed besides water levels low 2x and no traffic. However, you could make me a huuge favor when you get set up, to tell me if you observe any oddities with your PMDG's after long flights.. such as black screens in the fsx menu.. I'm having this issue and it's driving me crazy because I have to fly like I did on my old rig... no autogen/ water details. It's a pain in the rear and it's silly as hell to use such settings on such a powerful rig because of Microsoft's incompetence.

Mark, I see, but already made the order. The RAM isn´t the most costly anyway, so..Thx for the input about the CAS, will be looking into it.

Have you done the "HIGHMEMFIX=1" Tweak? Sounds like you haven't.

Gold DOES have SP1, SP2 and Accel...I like the setup of your system.I would whole heartedly ask you to read NickN's FSX installation guide.I have an ASUS board and O/C to 4.4GHz is not even an issue.I also have an SSD, but as I started applying addons to FSX, the drive started to get a little fuller than I would like.I used the much larger standard drive and I do not experience stutters. Lastly, be on the look out for UIAutomationcore.dll problems.

What haven't I done, Of course It's on.. This problem seems to go away only when ENB is disabled. Are there new versions or what?

Basically, you need to download the mentioned dll and place it in your FSX root directory so your FSX won't crash after using menus excessively.

Hi Leffe; UIAutomationcore. dll has been identified, by some FSX simmers as, a bug that causes CTD in FSX. It happens in 64 bit systems and shows up when you access menus in FSX "too much". The problem is supposed to be that the 64 bit version caues a conflict in the 32 bit version needed in FSX. There are a series of Windows commands to take ownership of the file and delete them. If you Google "UIAutionmationcore.dll", you'll see the FSX entries. Big Grin.gif

Basically you have chosen the best in the market and of course the price is high. With a modern game you should hit average 150 fps @ max detail but the rusty and ancient FSX engine will grant you no more than 3 dozens of fps. Thank you M$ Anyway, you will definitely enjoy a lot NGX, that's for sure. Just set a good CAS within memories, nothing above 6 or 7 of course I mean. Everything above 4-6 GB is wasted. If you load 10 heavy addons while running fsx and open task manager you will notice that you will use only 3-3.5 GB, no more, never. Also on 64 bits of course. cheers

FSX Gold includes FSX Acceleration, and Acceleration includes all the updates from SP2.

Hi Lief, That sounds like an AWESOME system spec, however, as someone pointed out, much of the power of the system will go to waste as the FSX engine isn't optimised, as far as I know. If I could have provided you with a bit of advise prior to purchasing, I would have said to ditch the MSI board and go with ASUS, although MSI isn't bad, just personal preference really. The EVGA GFX card is awesome. I also would not have gone with so much RAM, 8GB would have been just fine, but then I would have gone for the lowest possible CAS timing, 6 or 7. The Corsair PSU's are really good, I have one although not the same model. I do however also have a 1TB WB Black HDD. They are really great with thier 32MB cache, makes a difference. Oh, and I probably would have gone for the Intel Core i5 2500K as far as value for money. It's cheaper than the i7 and can run just as fast if you overclock. FSX will run very well on this CPU. Other than that, great system mate!
