August 2, 201114 yr PMDG 737 NGX psychological exam As you are all well aware 737 pilots must first pass a psychological test before they're allowed to fly. Since the NGX will be as real as it can get i think it's only fair to take this before release day. You should only have the honor of flying such a complex aircraft when you can keep your cool and can take responsibilty: So here we go: 1.Have you ever started a thread/topic in this forum without first spending some time on searching for existing conversations about similar or even the same subjects? 2.Have you ever, in this forum, exaggerated your knowledge on certain topics, or even bluff, with the sole purpose to try winning an argument? 3. Did you ever continue an approach because you were impatient, when in fact you should have decided to go around for safety reasons? 4.Are you willing to leave the IRS alignment time to its realistic maximum duration setting? 5.Did you ever exceed the speed limit of 25 knots during taxi? and as a result crashed because of accidentally hitting a building or house that FSX so cleverly decided to place only 6 meters away from the taxiway? 6. Have you ever forgotten to actually fly the plane by looking out of the window once in a while because you were so concentrated on programming the FMC CDU? and the most important question 7.Are you able to keep your cool and wait a few days after release day, and then purchase? In order to pass, the answers will have to be1. no, 2. no. 3. no, 4. yes, 5.no, 6. no, 7. yes. I have already failed the test myself i must confess. But I will purchase the NGX anyway. August 2, 201114 yr I sure don't have the patience to run that test. But - I have actually and IRL been cleared when going through a DMT... -------------------------------- Defense Mechanism Test (DMT) ad modum Neuman A reliable and sensitive test for combat pilot selection By Jaan Suurküla, M.D. SummaryThe Defense Mechanism Test is used worldwide for combat pilot selection. It has drastically reduced the frequency of serious pilot errors under stressful conditions, the most common cause for flight accidents. It detects defence mechanisms, that prevent the pilot from assessing the situation realistically in acute stressful conditions. These defences bring about a distortion of the perception, like ignoring a warning signal, or interpreting it to be irrelevant or changed (eg from red to green). This behavior occurs in people with trait anxiety, a disturbance caused by anxiety-provoking situations or traumas often in childhood. It is associated with a low stress-tolerance. To alleviate anxiety, subconsciously these people acquire the habit of using defence mechanisms that reshapes the perception of the situation so as to appear less threating. This disturbance is very common in modern society. The test has also been used for selection of civil pilots by some companies including the Scandinavian airlines, SAS. It has also been used successfully for selection of top managers and other people who must act realistically and in a balanced manner under stressful conditions. ------------------------------- Peter Vestergren
