August 5, 201114 yr Guys, you can't really compare fps between computers as each system is different. Of course someone with a OC 4Ghz etc is going to have better performance over a core Duo2 1.33Ghz - Basically if your system is less than one year old it's gonna suffer....I actually took the plunge and bought the ngx, against my better judgement, and while the NGX has some really nice features, it does have performance issues. In EGPH I used to get 30+ fps on approach, with NGX, it more like 15-19fps, with for me is borderline poor. That's with a I7 2,66Ghz, 12GB Ram, SSD fsx, SSD Win 7 x64, Nvidia 285 1GB....oh well!....disappointed. Chris Farrell Chris Farrell
August 5, 201114 yr Commercial Member My FPS is about the same as the Level-D 767. The major advantage of a 64 bit OS over a 32 bit is that it doesn't have a 4GB RAM limit. Windows 7 x64 is a good OS and as long as it's got 4GB RAM it runs faster than XP on kit up to 3 or 4 years old (imo). SP1 has some memory handling improvements which speeds things up a bit. But FSX does have a GB limit, it is a 32 bit application. As of SP2 it is large address aware so 2 to 32 equals 4GB.... The main difference is, that in 32 bit systems even that limit is unattainable and FSX will only see half i.e. 2GB's, which is NOT sufficient and safe. ==================================== E M V Precision Manuals Development Group ====================================
August 5, 201114 yr What mouse lag issue?I think they are talking about mouse flikkering issue when you move your mouse around on the buttons, it is happening to me too Burak
August 5, 201114 yr I think they are talking about mouse flikkering issue when you move your mouse around on the buttons, it is happening to me too I see that too, even if I don't touch the mouse [ which I hate to do anyway ] it still pops up after 10-20 seconds or so and flickers, damn annoying especially if the mouse cause performance hits -this bug was my main reason to do most instructions via hardware way back when. C Farrell Chris Farrell
August 5, 201114 yr Correct. Mouse lag is exactly that: FPS drop when the cursor is visible above the FSX screen. Be that windowed or full screen.
August 5, 201114 yr So why does the mouse cursor appear with the ngx even if the mouse has not been touched or moved. Nothing is creating vibrations on my desktop and I wear headphone so sound vibrations won't activate the mouse Bleeding annoying. C Farrell Chris Farrell
August 6, 201114 yr Nvidia 9800 GTX GPUi7-950 Bloomfield 3.06Ghz8GB DDR3 1600 RAMWindows 7 64BitFSX on dedicated HD (:F/) with no other programs on the drive PMDG 747-400 @ KPHX, Runway 26: 20 FPS avg (Max: 25 | Low: 15)PMDG 737-800 @ KPHX, Runway 26: 25 FPS avg (Max: 34 | Low: 22)PMDG J-4100 @ KPHX, Runway 26: 25 FPS avg (Max: 29 | Low: 19)PMDG MD-11 @ KPHX, Runway 26: 22 FPS avg (Max: 29 | Low: 19) Frames locked @ 25. I should also note I have UltimateTraffic2 @ 100%, REX/ASE/GEX/Ultimate Terrain USA all at fairly high settings. The PMDG 744X has the lowest frames for me followed by the MD-11, then J41, then NGX. It seems like a progressive timeline to me: The older the plane, the lower the FPS on average. My specs are unique, your mileage may vary. August 6, 201114 yr finally someone that says the true about the frame rate well said Word Not Allowed!im shocked about this but i expected that because (everyone can read my previous comments before the release) nobody from betatester and development team was so clear and detailed about the fps. they were so clear about systems and so on but not abut performance. luckly i dont have bought it and i wont do it coz its no sense using a plane slower then the 747X!!! :( Slower in general.Comparison to 747-400X:747-400X:2D: 40 VC: 32NGX:2D: 36 VC: 27 Apples to apples. And yes, there is a mouse issue, the very much same as in the competitor. Last test shown: full screen, cursor shown 23fps, cursor hidden 27fps. That's about the same difference as in the competitor. Around 20% loss.

I say, give the NGX a shot, you won't be disappointed.
August 6, 201114 yr Tomorrow, I'll do a comparison test of the 747 vs the 737 and report the framerates. Any specific scenarios you want me to do? Paul Gugliotta
August 6, 201114 yr on main airports in bad weather with uts at 40% Tomorrow, I'll do a comparison test of the 747 vs the 737 and report the framerates. Any specific scenarios you want me to do?
August 6, 201114 yr I say, give the NGX a shot, you won't be disappointed. But be prepared for disappointment all the same if you have poor system specs. Dont make the same mistake I did people! Dylan Jutagir
August 6, 201114 yr i'm having slightly lower performance as compared to the 747-8i too.. fsx.cfg is tweaked using the ******* tool. external limiter locked at 30fps. in the VC at uk2000 gatwick airport on runway 26L, daytime, fair weather, REX clouds, GEX & UTX Europe: 747-8i: avg 27 FPS737ngx: avg 20 FPS the ngx seemed to fly less smoothly too, more microstutters were detected. i'm wondering why everyone else seemed to be having much better performance in the ngx?? Aloysius My FSX Setup: i5 2500k @ 4.5GHz PALIT GTX 560 Ti G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB 1600 CL9 P8P67 M-Pro FSX on WD Caviar Black 500GB Windows 7 Professional 64bit on 2nd WD Caviar Black 500GB
August 6, 201114 yr Author I say, give the NGX a shot, you won't be disappointed. Thanks! On the ground with medium traffic and in the VC with the HUGS down would be good. Hoping for positive results! Kristoff Ottar-Spencer
August 6, 201114 yr Everyone reporting microstutters, etc., have you tweaked FSX? I now I have a powerful cpu and decent video card, but I find the motion in the ngx very fluid. Even when frames get low when I am in thick clouds (bad weather and I have pretty much everything maxed out). Alfredo Terrero
