August 6, 201114 yr First let me say that I am still getting to grips with flying the 737 after only previously been used to flying GAs and no I have still yet to read all the manuals. However, I have not had this problem with the iFLY and would like to know whether it is something that I am doing wrong (more than likely) or of it's some issue. For some reason I do not seem to be able to reduce power on finals. Even with a shallow approach slope, full flaps and spoilers I still cannot slow the aircraft to less than 200knots and the engine power does not drop below 50%. I have to add, these were just initial test flights without any info programmed into the FMC. Is that the problem or can someone shed some light on this for me. Many thanks guys. August 6, 201114 yr and when you use the AFDS? For example HGD SEL, SPD and APP? Can the A/T system slow the aircraft down? Regards, Harm Swinkels
August 6, 201114 yr Author and when you use the AFDS? For example HGD SEL, PSD and APP? Can the A/T system slow the aircraft down? Hi Harm, not so sure to be honest, as I have been flying with AP for the flight and then manually on approach. Which is more strange... August 6, 201114 yr well, i must confess that it seems that the speedbrake either doesn't have the effect on reducing speed as i am used to. But you had the throttles back to idle? So approx. 25% N1? I think there are some difficulties with bringing the speed back, but i guess that it is like the real thing , just because PMDG created this bird! Regards, Harm Swinkels
August 6, 201114 yr Author Mmmmm, I thought AT was disenaged. I'm going to run anothjer test flight and check it again................ August 6, 201114 yr Make sure your ingame settings throttle sensitivity is all the way upsounds to me like your throttles are not disengaging all the way John C
August 6, 201114 yr Author OK guys, this is not right. John, I thought you may have had something there because that is exactly what it feels like. But no, I've checked that and it's fine. Christi, no AT. So my scenario is, I simply load the plane for a test flight with no FMC input. 5 flaps and manual TO. I don't touch anyhting else no A/T or A/P. I fly north of Canberra turn 180 line her up for finals, gear down and I can't get her to slow down. With all that she should be falling out of the sky almost!! Full throttle off, speed brakes (I know it's wrong but this is a test) full flaps and still cannot get her below about 200Knts, well I can, but it is a rediculous amount of time it takes with an almost level glide slope! August 6, 201114 yr That is weird... sounds like an aircraft.cfg screw-up. Have you submitted a ticket with PMDG? Cristi Neagu
August 6, 201114 yr Author That is weird... sounds like an aircraft.cfg screw-up. Have you submitted a ticket with PMDG? Nah not yet. I was hoping it was something I had done wrong! August 6, 201114 yr Hi Howard, If your engine N1 isn't dropping below 50% im guessing your joystick is not calibrated properly. Try a flight without the joystick to confirm if it is the source of your problem. Thanks, Armen L CholakianPMDG Sound Engineer
August 6, 201114 yr Author Hi Armen,I can't see it being a joystick issue as it is fine with everything else and has beeen for 18 months! Below are three pics showing the engine power 1) on the runway 2) level flight with throttle completely closed and 3) the last picture taken exactly one minute later. As you can see there is virtually no change in the AS and the throttle has only dropped to about 32% and will not drop any further. If you are try re-establishing the Throttle Axis in FSUIPC or try disengaging FSUIPC as your Koysticj controller and let FSX do the job. I had a similar problem after inaverantly omitting the Throttle from the Axis controllers. Andy Brockbank
August 6, 201114 yr Author Hi Andy, no, I do not have FSUIPC... it's strange 'cos you can see from the images that the throttle does work and it does start at 21%, but once up high and level it is not possible to drop the power below about 32% !!! August 6, 201114 yr I am not sure here but you are trying to slOw down an 800 with 44,000 pounds of fuel (i assume you have pax so a very heavy 800) without the use of flaps or gear AND descending at 1000 feet per minute? All I can say is good luck my friend! Try this. 1) Have 10,000 pounds of fuel in the plane. 2) fly at 4000 feet 3) 250 kts and hold this speed. 4) start the stop watch on the panel and at the same time reduce throttle to idle. 4) tell me how long it takes you to slow to 210 kts AND dont use ANY drag (flaps, speed brakes, gear.) AND DO NOT descend!!!And if you can, not the distance it takes you. So you would have to be fly DIRECTLY to or away a fix.JackColwill
