August 7, 201114 yr Author I have old system with E8500 not overclocked, ATI4870 and 4GB RAM, and only thing I have to avoid is complex addon sceneries airports a la EDDF etc...My NGX runs most of the time with fps at 20 (locked at 20 by external limiter).******* tweaks didn't help me, so I just made rebuild FSX.CFG made some modification according PMDG manual, chapter performance, and I'm very very happy how it runs. I will buy new pc next year, but until now I can enjoy my NGX,btw I use water 1x high,ASE and UT and REX textures. RadoThat's incredible! I have pretty similar machine (it says in the top post), and although I do have a bunch of high quality airports, so far I haven't been using my NGX at them because I am afraid of the fps hit. If you get a minute or two could you PM me your in-game fsx settings and tell me what you did to your fsx.cfg file? I am anxious to know. And Evan, I find it weird as well as some people are getting very high frames while others, who may have very high end systems as well, cannot run it well. Best regards, happy flying, Wallace

August 8, 201114 yr Im sorry that you cant do it yet but you dont have to go that far. Intels I7 2500k is just as good as well as many other options, and if you search "Toms hardware " you will get a lot of info and prices for upgrades that will suit anyones pocket when u can. Once you have the info at hand you will find the hardware from different suppliers etc at good prices. I upgraded the motherboard ,CPU and ram for around 900 dollars. $900 = 3.5 months of food... August 12, 201114 yr Yes , I suppose it is a lot ,but there are a lot of excellent options for far less than that. I Hope that a patch comes out soon to sorts the FPS issues out once and for all. I have strange fps issues where I can load the plane and do absolutely nothing and the FPS will sit at around 70 then dip to 45 for a few seconds ,then go back to 70 for 15 seconds and back down again for 5 seconds and so it goes on. It's like something's drawing power intermittently .
August 12, 201114 yr I too noticed a 15 to 20 FPS drop with the NGX compared to the Level D. Even though I am using turboboost I decided to overclock from 2.8 to 3.6 GHz on my i7 860. I also disabled high resolution 3d cockpit and now I am back to where I was with the Level D - about 40 to 45 FPS on the ground in ATL with my sliders around 50% running ASE. I had done the fsx.cfg optimization on *******' site awhile back and all my other settings are set as recommended in the Introduction guide.
August 12, 201114 yr Sorry for the late reply, my NGX ran perfectly ( until I whipped Mr Marsupial across my sceen ) I can get around 20+ often, on a 2.4Ghz Processor, I'm upgrading to i5 2500K
August 12, 201114 yr try disabling the "high resolution cockpit" from the FSX settings. it only really affects the sharpness of the information on the DU's. Antoine v Heck --- Ryzen 5800X3D, 32Gb DDR4 RAM@1600 Mhz, RTX3090 (24GB VRAM). 2TB SSD - VR with Quest 2 via link cable
