August 8, 201114 yr Remeber this topic guys? Someone brought up the fact that the flaps are retracted still. These pilots could of used the NGX for abit without hoping into a real NGhttp://www.thestkittsnevisobserver.com/2011/08/05/guyana-crash.html
August 8, 201114 yr OMG, just unbelievable! How did these guys get a job as pilots? Maybe though there was some mechanical failure that prevented the flaps from being deployed? Matthew S
August 8, 201114 yr Author OMG, just unbelievable! How did these guys get a job as pilots? Maybe though there was some mechanical failure that prevented the flaps from being deployed? Remember the NGX wasnt out before the crash happened ;)They didnt get proper sim training.
August 8, 201114 yr OMG, just unbelievable! How did these guys get a job as pilots? Maybe though there was some mechanical failure that prevented the flaps from being deployed?Maybe they made a mistake? One thing every pilot should remember is that they're human, and as such prone to errors. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
August 8, 201114 yr Yes- we aren't perfect- that's what check lists are for. :) In the C172, there's a pin (gust lock) that runs through the yoke shaft to prevent movement of the controls when the aircarft is unattended. In it's correct form it has a guard that prevents the key from being inserted to start the engine while the lock is still in place, for obvious reasons. But sometimes the guard breaks off, or someone has made a substitute part that does not have the guard- but removing the lock is still at the top of the check-list, since it's fairly important to have it removed when taking off !!. And there's a subsequent check-list item to ensure that all control surfaces are free and clear at run-up. But if you look at some of the NTSB reports, it's amazing how often pilots get to take-off speed, then can't figure out why the aircraft won't "go up", and still can't figure it out as the aircraft rolls off the end of the runway into the fence, or worse. August 8, 201114 yr I just went back and looked at the pictures of the crash site. It looks as if the flaps lever is in the fully up position - not even the leading edge slats are down. If they landed with no flaps whatsoever, and that is how it looks, that is a monumental screw-up! Matthew Bellette

Sorry, but I find it quite disturbing. Steve Smith i7-2600K - GTX580 - 8GB ram

August 8, 201114 yr Take a chill pill. OK, forgive me for being ignorant here, but I took this thread as making fun of an incident that happened in RL. Steve Smith i7-2600K - GTX580 - 8GB ram
August 8, 201114 yr Veteran captain and fo go through the entire approach at the abnormally high speed required, ignore all audible warnings and land no flaps. Seriously? Seems it's some of US that need more NGX time. Regards, Mark
August 8, 201114 yr Commercial Member I'm flabbergasted as to how it's possible to conduct an approach and land a 738 flaps up without either pilot noticing the problem... If that's really what happened here then - just wow... Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
August 8, 201114 yr three would of been a lot of warning signs. here is a few touching down halfway down the runway the smell of burning brakes because when standing on them trying to stop and the flap and speed brake being the up postion would of been a big sign. Sorry, but I find it quite disturbing. No, I was just being sarcastic.A question to Ryan, do you think the NGX can ever be featured in some real world training facilities?
