August 8, 201114 yr About to shut down a flight with the NGX. A horn started going off at ~11,000 ft while climbing. I can't get it to stop and I can't find anything wrong. No warning or alarm light, nothing on the FMC. Scanned overhead and other panels and I can't figure out what isn't happy. The climb is going on fine in VNAV, LNAV. Not sure if the NGX has gone crazy or I'm missing something. Any suggestions? Hate to shut down a flight that is otherwise going nicely. #concernedOverNebraska Regards,Bob Quick
August 8, 201114 yr If your not already suffering from hypoxia and can read my reply, i think there is something wrong with pressurization. I had the same thing happen once. Gerrit
August 8, 201114 yr Is the pressurization working? Did you set it to your cruise altitude. Did you switch on the airconditioning packs on the bleed air panel?
August 8, 201114 yr Possibly an issue with pressurization? Click the "Alt Horn Cutout" on the overhead and see if it stops. Go directly up from the logo light switch. Then look at your pressurization gauges and see if you can figure out what caused it.

Some idiot had the bleed valves off :/ I got the cabin to pressurize and the alarm to shut off. But I still have 'auto fail' illuminated and the altitude windows (for pressurization) show dashes and won't allow input. I wonder if anyone is alive back there. I could sure use some coffee. August 8, 201114 yr Exactly. Get down as soon as possible! And go to the failures menu and repair 2 items: Pressurization and oxygen mask Gerrit
August 8, 201114 yr Author Switched pressurization to manual and things seem to have stabilized. May just just make it after all. Regards,Bob Quick
August 8, 201114 yr Switched pressurization to manual and things seem to have stabilized. May just just make it after all.I was just typing up a post telling you to try that, but you figured it out before I could finish. Good to hear you've got it figured out.
August 9, 201114 yr Commercial Member I too had a problem with pressurization, the auto failed and I had to go to manual, but I only noticed it because I was looking at the overhead, no horn. August 9, 201114 yr lol, i had that last night. I really gotta question my safety when flying if this stuff is happening this often. They did model this after actual data after all, right? I'm sure that my lack of experience is contributing to some of these factors. Todays flight I had an electric hydraulic pump fail. Got the HYD indicator and number two electric pump had overheat and low pressure I think was the other. Turned it off and continued the approach - noticed my pressure dropped 20 psi. What i didn't understand was it was the left side showing the lower psi but the right pump. oh well more reading to figure it out. Walter Trester
August 9, 201114 yr Although this will ruin my flight and make FsPax yell, i'm eager to open a door once just to see if this leads to explosive decompression. Gerrit
