September 26, 201114 yr Hello, can we importe in plan-G - in text format - a route defined in rfinder? Can you after export it in FSX, directly in the right format for MCDU / FMC wilco airbus or other ... ?Thank you for your advice.PS: I think, after reading here and there, it is possible under FSC
September 26, 201114 yr I use FSBuild and I really like it, mainly because it exports to a lot of formats. All other planners I looked at only have a handful, and never a complete list. FSBuild is the only flight planner currently available the I have seen that caters for all of my add-on aircraft. It's a bit hard to learn at first, but you'll quickly get the hang of it. But once you do and you click that "auto generate" button, you know you'll have the flight plan for every aircraft installed. September 26, 201114 yr Best free Plan G, can be run on seperate machine and used as gps, uses google maps http://www.tasoftware.co.uk/ OMG! Finally something that I can work with for my VFR flights that does not require me to follow a full study of all aspects of flight planning. This one looks really good and impressive. Downloading it now, I have got to try that one out. Thanks for the link mate. Brilliant! Marc Baas

September 26, 201114 yr Thank you for this. Does fsbuild manage sid and star ? Yes, yes it does. September 27, 201114 yr I use FSBuild for all my flights. I use Flight Aware to get the routing for a US originating flight and then paste the route into FSBuild. Or for a non US flight I use the auto routing built into FSBuild to get a very accurate route and then import the route into FS, ASE, Radar Contact and my LDS 767 FMC. In addition to great routing FSBuild also does a great job on fuel burn planning and I have it connected to ASE for aloft winds. IMHO just the best for my flights todate. Bob
September 27, 201114 yr For IFR planning, SIDS & STARS etc I use FSCommander which I would highly recommend. You can download it here. The unregistered version does not allow you to save your flightplan and terminates after 30 minutes (although you can run it as many times as you like). If you are using it with the likes of the NGX then you can just manually input the plan into the FMC. The unregistered version still allows you to use current NavData if you have purchased it from Navigraph. For VFR then Plan-G is king, especially if you can run it across the network to follow your flight as you go !! G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron
September 27, 201114 yr OK and thank you for all your advices ! Well, if I try to resume, I have the choice between :- plan-G : better for VFR (I try it across the network and it really look very good for VFR. But for IFR, I don't find it useful: no import/export function for example)- FSBuild or FSCommander : for IFR, it seems to be the best ones. But which one do you recommandate ? Thank you !
September 27, 201114 yr i would try both, it really comes down to the fact that what we think really does not matter, all we can say is that there both excellent and very mature products. you are the one that needs to answer your own question by trying them out (and carefully reading the manuals) all things being equal, it may come down to choosing one that makes you feel more at ease with.
September 27, 201114 yr Choosing between FSBuild and FSCommander, I'd pick FSBuild anytime due to the fact that it exports to a huge range of add ons. FSCommander export function is very limited, sadly. I use them both however: FSbuild for all route planning, and FSCommander to track my flight and get info on airports and such. Perfect combo! September 27, 201114 yr HelloFScommander would be my choice especially across a network with a second display.Much more than just a planner thoughThe moving map linked to FSX with autozoom is invaluable for navigating around taxiways if you use RCBeing able to visually see the wind direction and being able to visually choose the SID is a great help.It is also a great VFR planner with control zone violation checking. But on a single machine with one display, purely for flight planning FSbuild will serve you well. My advice : buy them both.
September 27, 201114 yr Thanks a lot for all your advices !I will look both and make my choice after reading the manuals ... I'll give you back my choice when it'll be taken see you soon
September 28, 201114 yr I will look both and make my choice after reading the manuals ... Hello Like yourself, I'm unsure which one of these two to go with. However, I can't find the manual for FSBuild anywhere. Is it actually available to read without purchasing the product first? Regards
