the NAV lights could use a extra bulb as well. They are hardly visible on those screenies while they do light up the apron even during daytime.

Digger57 settings for Shockwave on 737-800 works great, Thanks, any chance for the 900 aircraft....

Another limitation with Shockwave Lights, and the method in which they are positioned(Referenced to the Aircraft Ref Point, as opposed to "attached" to the wing) You will see the Wing Strobe Lights and the Wing Nav Lights become disconneceted from the wing, when the wing flexes. However, seeing other aircarft, at night, especially in the sky, in a more realistic way, more than makes up for that slight limitation. There should be a way for addon developers to make their product Shockwave light compatable.Ie To make an addon able to accept Shockwave lights, "attached" to the Wing within the model.Alternativly, (even better) to add similar light effects. I can't see how A2A can ahve a copyright onthe design methods of "projected light effects" in FSX... only the actual "effect files they wrote" Geoff

Awesome! I tried it. Works great. Thanks!

IMHO, the stock PMDG NGX volumetric, 3D lights that come with the airplane look better then these.

Hi allI tried these settings and the lights do not change at all. I always have the lights from pmdg, whatever kind of light I am using.Did you try with the latest hotfixes from pmdg?thanks.Patrice.

Could you advise me as to where can I download the modified .dll file which corrects the problem listed within this topic:(For the 737, ideally you want a modified version of the A2A Dll, that turns off the TAXI LIGHTS, when the Gear Goes Up).Thank you

Don't lose your time with this stuff, tigmiver. It does not work on PMDG as lights are not managed in the aircrat.cfg file.Patrice.

Did you buy the files of shockwave-light? You must have it before you can change the lights to use...

OK, let´s get this bird moving. Would you please remind me where the throttles are?

Making these lights working is simply impossible: this needs to modify the aircraft mdl file, a task that noone, except PMDG, can do.Patrice.

You are saying don't bother with shockwave lights within pmdg's 737 NGX as they dosn't work?I have purchased shockwave 3d lights and use them to good effect on many aircraft within FSX and as shown in the screen shots within this topic, the PMDG 737 NGX looks to be able to take advantage of the shockwave lights some how.I only want to know what this updated .dll file is that switches a nose wheel mounted light off when the gear is raised, and more importantly how this modified .dll file can be obtained.Regards

+1I added the Shockwave nav lights and strobe to the Level-D with Winglets for that very reason. I haven't had the time to work out the settings for the NGX yet, but it's terrible not being able to see other NGXs at night.I'd love to know the reasoning behind why PMDG made the nav lights and strobes were made so small and dim.Good to see you around Geoff.

In the real world, a light has the same "brightness" during the day, as it does at night. ( A light bulb does not know the time of day). However, when the human eye looks at a light bulb at night, when the surroundings are dark, it APPEARS to be a lot brighter, than it does in daylight. This is because the human eye's sensitivity to light changes, between strong daylight, and dark nightime. ( Ref Night Vison)This effect of the human eye NOT simulated in FSX. Therefore, a light bulb that is set to a given brightness to look realistic in daylight in the sim, will appear to be a lot dimmer than it should at night. One way to compensate for this would be to have a Sim Light bulb be programmed to be brighter at night, than it is during the day, but as yet, I do not believe that anyone is doing this.So lighting, and aircarft lighting will continue to be a compromise.. typically, appearing to be too bright during the day, and too dark at night.Personally, I favour accepting the fact that a light is too bright during the day, so that it appears more realsitic at night, and aircraft lights, especially for those aircraft in the sky, look more realsitic, and realistically depict what one would see in real life, when viewing aircraft in the sky at night.I like the Shockware 3D ligts as an addon, especially as it is relatively easy for a user to add them to an aircraft, and select the level of brightness ( light type) that they prefer. As addon developers evolve their techniques with FSX, hopefully we will start to see similar lighting "effects" incorporated into the aircarft model , programmed to alter in brightness according to ambinet light level (or maybe as a first approximation, the elevation of the sun .. etc etc)

Here are some pics with shockwave lights Shocked.gif
