November 25, 201114 yr Commercial Member In the real world, a light has the same "brightness" during the day, as it does at night. ( A light bulb does not know the time of day). However, when the human eye looks at a light bulb at night, when the surroundings are dark, it APPEARS to be a lot brighter, than it does in daylight. This is because the human eye's sensitivity to light changes, between strong daylight, and dark nightime. ( Ref Night Vison)This effect of the human eye NOT simulated in FSX. Therefore, a light bulb that is set to a given brightness to look realistic in daylight in the sim, will appear to be a lot dimmer than it should at night. One way to compensate for this would be to have a Sim Light bulb be programmed to be brighter at night, than it is during the day, but as yet, I do not believe that anyone is doing this.So lighting, and aircarft lighting will continue to be a compromise.. typically, appearing to be too bright during the day, and too dark at night.Personally, I favour accepting the fact that a light is too bright during the day, so that it appears more realsitic at night, and aircraft lights, especially for those aircraft in the sky, look more realsitic, and realistically depict what one would see in real life, when viewing aircraft in the sky at night.I like the Shockware 3D ligts as an addon, especially as it is relatively easy for a user to add them to an aircraft, and select the level of brightness ( light type) that they prefer. As addon developers evolve their techniques with FSX, hopefully we will start to see similar lighting "effects" incorporated into the aircarft model , programmed to alter in brightness according to ambinet light level (or maybe as a first approximation, the elevation of the sun .. etc etc)Yeah, I get that regarding the landing lights. What I don't quite undertstand is the Nav Lights and Strobes.I had a chance to see the IFly 737 yesterday at a friends, and the Nav Lights were a vast improvement over the NGX, as they could actually be seen on VATSIM.It would be really great if PMDG would provide a patch for larger/brighter Nav Lights and Strobes for those of us who fly on VATSIM. I have Shockwave, but as we know, its just not the same due to the wing flex. November 25, 201114 yr Yes, they work on many airplanes, those with lights definitions in aircraft.cfg (including iFly 737 ngx). But on PMDG 737 NGX, no. Patrice Dubois
November 26, 201114 yr Hi Sabine,if someone answer your signature question, please, let me know. My copilot always say : it´s beside of you on the right Edited November 26, 201114 yr by Saheike OK, let´s get this bird moving. Would you please remind me where the throttles are? //^:^\\ Greetings from Sabine Keil
November 26, 201114 yr Really??? I thought the throttle was the pedal on the right?! But that would explain why I still can't seem to take off when I floor it...
November 26, 201114 yr I would assume the add-on in question is "3D lights redux for FSX" by A2A simulations, am I correct? I want to be sure before I purchase it. Ron Priever

January 25, 201214 yr Transavia 737-800 WL at Airport Groningen-Eelde (Shockwave 3D landing lights and nose wheel taxi light). Wow, I love it!!!Can the Level D 767 be modified like this?Daniel
January 25, 201214 yr I just installed Shockwave 3D lights on PMDG 737 NGX.All went well except landing light are taking turns flashing on and off.Any solutions? Thanks, Digital Storm, Win 7 64-bit, Intel i5 4690k (OC 4.5 GHz), ASRock Z97, FSX Gold, two Dell monitors, 1x Samsung 500GB DDR, PC 8GB DDR3 (1866), RC4, DX10 Fixer,nVidia Inspector tuned by FSX DX10 "How To" Guide, nVidia GeForce GTX 970 (4GB),Opus, GEX, UTX, UT2, REX (4, Soft, Airports) FS Global 2008, PMDG JS41 & 737NGX, 750W Corsair
